That's right but as far as I know the train route takes a bit more time compared to the bus and also the bus route is more beautiful.

Hey, it's valid only for the Salzburg to Hallstatt route. You can visit other towns and lakes on the way to Salzburg with this ticket.

We did day trip from Salzburg to Hallstatt for 30€. I think Hallstatt to Salzburg should also be possible same way.

I am not sure about one way ticket price. Also, not sure if the one way ticket will cover all 3 buses or you have to buy separate tickets.
i live one and half year in salzburg only language problem otherwise its heaven no crime no raciism magic days and one main things working conditionds for indians very bads due to language barriers

Hey, ideally it should be good as it is summer time but would recommend to check the weather few days before your visit and adjust the day if required.
@@NainaMehar My plans are for the same trip from Salzburg to Hallstatt on Aug 17/18th of this year. hope it will be a good day. BTW- there is a viewing platform that extends over the lake. Is it easy to cover in the same day? How far is it from the bus stop?
@cookmaster3626 yes, you can find the cable car which will take you to the top. If you are planning to hike then covering too many places won’t be possible in same day.

2. If we start early around 7am, then Can we cover the hallstat town and visit saltmine as well in a single day?
3. Does the Ticket of 30 euroes include return trip from hallstat town?
1. We started around 8:30 as it was Sunday and the first bus ran around 8:15am. Other days the first bus is at 5:55am
2. Yes, you can. It also depends on how much time you spend on each place and have to do time management.
3. Yes, a 30 euro ticket is a day ticket so you can also get down at other stops on the way and board the bus again as many times as you want.

How many hours did you spend in Hallstatt including the bus rides?
We took the morning bus from Vienna around 8:30-9 and started back from Hallstatt by bus around 4:30 pm. It gave us around 4-5hrs to explore Hallstatt.

One last question, what is the last bus that departs from Hallstatt to Salzburg ?
Right, I meant bus from Salzburg and not Vienna. You can check the timetable at salzburg-verkehr.at. The first bus starts around 6am (8:30 on Sundays) and the last bus returns in between 5-6pm if I remember correctly but you can verify information on the shared website. We bought our ticket directly from the station or you can even buy it directly from the driver, it's quite convenient or check website fahrplan.oebb.at/ to book it in advance.

Hey Naina...how much time it took from Salzburg to Hallstat in total ....were these bus connecting..and in google the in between connection is showing train thus taking more time. thanks for your info...since we are visiting in October 2023
Hey, it takes around 2hrs and the bus are connected. We just waited for sometime in Bad Ischl but there are continuous buses, so there should not be any issue. Just make a note of last bus time while going so that you won’t miss it while coming back. The bus actually takes a little lesser time than train.
Hello, you mentioned that there are 2 ways to go to Hallstatt from Salzburg (via bus 542 and 543 that same as yours and ferry) is the cost of 30€ the same?
30€ is for a day ticket by bus, with this you don't need to take the ferry. That is required only if you come by train for which you need to check the price on their train ticket booking platform.

Hi 👋 just saw your video while I was getting more infor about Hallstatt. I’m visiting next month (April), do you recommend staying for a night in Hallstatt? Or a day trip should be fine.
Hey, if you want to do a complete hike to the top, I would recommend staying for a night. But in April it would be cold and snowy so exploring outside for long could be difficult. If you just want to explore the grounds you can do it on a day trip easily from Salzburg.
Hey i am a solo traveller i want to know. Did we need to book in advance for bus ticket, if no what about seat reservation and which numbers of seats are better for scenic views and from which site i can book in advance.
There are no dedicated seats, so you can buy a ticket directly from the bus stop, just reach there early. I would suggest sitting on the left side on the way from Salzburg.

Yes, if you are taking a day ticket you can stop and board the bus again as many times as you want on the same day 😊

That boat takes you to Hallstatt town if you come via train as it drops you across the lake. If you are coming by bus, you can rent a boat to enjoy the lake.

The ticket is only valid on the bus, it will not work on the train.

Hey, I didn't visit but you can take the same bus all the way to Dachstein Ice Caves instead of getting down at Hallstatt.

15 euro is one way, you need to buy a day ticket for 30 euro if you want to return as well.

As shown in the video there are a lot of lakes on the way from Salzburg to Hallstatt and they look beautiful from the road. You can make stops on the way if you want, we didn't have enough time.

No, I didn't but you can use the same bus to get down at Ice Cave. Instead of getting down at Hallstatt, get down at next stop
