Rachel Zegler Snow White Symptom Of Disney's DEATH

  • Rachel Zegler is Snow White for the Disney live action remake of Snow White animation. But as Rachel Zegler has not had good press since, other versions of Snow White are entering the ring as competition. Disney+ has had series like Loki, Secret Invasion, Willow and She-Hulk but they never leave much of an impression. Are all these cases related? And can Disney turn their IP's around before celebrities like Rachel Zegler do permanent damage to PR? Is Snow White worth watching?

    Rachel Zegler's Snow White turned into a complete disaster a few months ago due to her interviews. But this has prompted other companies to see weakness within the Disney brand and decide to take advantage of the gap in the market, setting themselves up as competition. But is Rachel Zegler and Snow White the exception, or the rule? Is Snow White simply a symptom of a deep rooted problem at the core of the Disney company, and if so, can Disney even fix this problem? Do they even want to? Let me know your thoughts down below and as always, thanks for watching :)

      Id love to chat with Rachel for 5 minutes. In regards too her Streaming statement. Id like to know what year she thinks Netflix made a profit?
      Or Amazon?
      Hell. Ill have her pick one, any streaming service of any kind thats managed to turn a profit and name the year that happened. Then when we have firmly established that no streaming service has EVER turned a profit of any kind. Ill ask her if she thinks she " deserves" any part of the expense if her work dosnt turn a profit this year? Meaning shes going to pay every penny of her cheques back if the service dosnt turn a profit.
      Because she didnt do her part by bringing in the audience. That is her job as an entertainer.
      Ill betcha she disagrees.

      Yeah too late for her.
      I'm sure it may take some time for this tidal wave to crash fully down on this industry, but it gains a whole new story and several million pounds of force more, as audiences begin to lose interest and realize that these celebrities, Idols, Gods/Goddesses among us that they have for so many years told us they were, and likely was internalized by the aforementioned to disastrous result.
      Yeah let's watch this Jenga tower crumble with glee when someone finally makes that one last fatal move. Snow White may not be it, the linchpin, last straw, etc. But this certainly is gonna cut it close if they wanna go forward with business as [un]usual.

      I don't think she cares about the negative impact of her words tbh.
      She probably sees it as her duty to help ruin Disney since it was founded by an evil white cis man and genuinly feels guilty working for them.
      She already got her " bag" and could comfortably retire at any time, there is really no loss for her speaking her mind.

      To be fair, she is only half to blame.
      Since the actors get their orders from the producers and studio how to present themselves and the movie in public.
      Gadot actually wasn't much different, but she was experienced enough to be not as outspoken.
      Which was easier, since she doesn't play the leading role.

Because they hid the plot of the movie, a lot of people were excited because it was Barbie. Many adult women still love Barbie. I was even somewhat interested in what they were going to do with making a Barbie movie. I didn't end up seeing it because a movie has to look stellar for me to be interested enough to go to the theater.
      Snow White has been constantly dragged down by the way it's been discussed. People love Snow White and what they're being told is that what they love has been removed. Not only that, but what they loved is wrong and they're bad for liking it. I can't imagine that Snow White is going to do well when THAT is the message they're choosing to send out. Barbie didn't do that. If Snow White had been exactly the same as it is, but the actors talked about how excited they were to present a live-action Snow White without all this "It's no longer 1937!" "The prince is a stalker!" stuff, I would actually agree that the movie would probably have a good opening, but they've made every effort to shoot themselves in the foot and I don't see this going well.

    Tremendous points. Also, the Andrew Garfield clip “you’re canon …. In my mind….” That’s the problem! Canon cannot be individual in your own mind! Hollywood is full of this doublethink. At least Garfield had the (likely unconscious) scruples to not leave it as “you’re canon now,” since I guess he understands the meaning of canon and felt the need to add the qualification. Most of Hollywood wouldn’t actually understand the word and leave it at that. Canon matters. If you despise everything and everyone in the IP you’re working within, you have no qualifications to work on it.

    • @the_absurd_hero
      @the_absurd_hero 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      I reckon this trend comes from “head-canon”-what someone imagines canonically happens to established characters or in established stories but may not have literary evidence for such thinking. (E.g., Some people have “head-canons” for what characters are supposed to look like or why they develop certain behaviors..) The problem, of course, is that having an individualized canon is a contradiction in terms: As you say (quite correctly) canon is established by and for groups, not individuals. “Head-canons” are just personal interpretations and pet theories that people believe in *too* much; it’s actually quite closed-minded. And it’s all over the place in fanfic, which says a lot about Hollywood writers, I guess.

    • @MurasakiTsukimaru
      @MurasakiTsukimaru 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      @@the_absurd_hero Sometimes the whole "Headcanon" isn't really a problem, particularly things like comics when there's a dozen or more writers for a series. Panda Redd had a bit on how everyone's canon of say, Superman, is different because even if you read all the same stories, you didn't read them in the same order. So you get people who focus on this or that aspect. But then you have the people who confuse canon and "headcanon" aka fanon.
      Off the top of my head, the two worst fandoms for that are Harry Potter and Naruto. Try finding a Harry Potter fan who's active in the fandom (especially reading/writing fanfics) and understands that the Potter family were merely middle class, upper middle class at best, and aren't super rich nobility/royalty. Or that the whole "Ancient and Most Noble House of X" was only ever the Blacks and it was the Blacks calling themselves that, like a rapper talking about how he's the greatest ever. I have a friend who writes Harry Potter fanfics (more power too him, I'm just done with the series and instead write for other series.) and a number of his writers lost their minds over Harry "only" having the equivalent of a couple hundred thousand dollars to his name rather than a dozen mansions, Hogwarts itself, and more money than actually exists. They went on about the "Ancient and Most Noble House of Potter" and none of them realized they were quoting fanon that has literally no canon support (not even in supplementary materials).
      Or a Naruto fan who realizes that the literally only time a mob was ever after Naruto was when he just committed treason and that said mob wasn't "Angry villagers trying to kill the demon" but actual ninja trying to hunt down a traitor. Heck, good luck finding a Naruto fan who realizes that Neji had zero interest in killing or even beating the crap out of Naruto and actually didn't enter his fight with Hinata with the intention of killing or maiming her.
      I know there's other fandoms that are just as bad but those are the two worst I know of where people completely forget what canonically happened. MCU is a distant third (especially any portrayal of Steve or Tony).

    • @MurasakiTsukimaru
      @MurasakiTsukimaru 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It's my canon that MCU Steve Rogers went to an alternate timeline where he used his knowledge of the future to prevent tragedies, such as saving Bucky from decades of imprisonment and brainwashing or saving the Starks from being murdered then traveled to the main timeline after his wife died to give Sam his shield and say goodbye to his friends. But it's not the actual canon no matter how much I think the actual canon ruins his character.
      And that's something people need to keep in mind but often don't. YOUR preferred canon and the ACTUAL canon are probably not the same thing.

    The thing I'm most looking forward to WRT the two Snow Whites is how the existence of a competitor will make it that much harder for Disney to make excuses for their inevitable failure. I don't expect the Bentkey one to do crazy numbers simply because they probably won't be distributing and marketing it anywhere near to the same level, but in so doing they probably won't have to earn nearly as much to break even or make a tidy profit.
    It would do the industry as a whole a world of good if Disney's version flops spectacularly and Bentkey's goes on to make hundreds of millions of dollars; if nothing else it might finally denude Hollywood of this pathetic belief that the way to make the big bucks is to spend hundreds of millions of dollars, like a sailor on shore leave, with no regard for what it is being spent on. How about we start pinching those pennies and trying to get our money's worth, eh? Might save the House of Mouse from embarrassments like the set photos leaking for Snow White.

      "Remake" is the key here. In the minds of these people, everything about the source material is wrong and needs to be remade; and it's easier to do than an original, because all the names, places and characters are still there, and nostalgia often pays a lot. So they bastardize and "remake" all things that were once good.
      Outside of established comic book installments, what really was the last original story anyone saw from Disney? I guess Star Wars, technically; but that doesn't really count, does it? Everything else was remakes or reboots.

But with millions of customers crying out, telling them what they want, they continue to do the same thing and expect a different result. If most small business operated this way, they would not be in business very long. All this highlights how out of touch and narcissistic Hollywood really is with their target audience, at this point I'm rooting for other non-Hollywood production companies to enter the fold, I will gladly give them my money to see shows that don't have identity politics as the focal point, rather a great story along with some great acting.

    I have watched Brett Cooper's video reacting to the trailer of Snow White ands the evil queen and honestly it is so nice to see someone squeeing over being a part of a classic tale and not once crapping on people based on ideology or political leanings.
    That alone makes me willing to ignore a lower budget and excited to see a more true to source movie than a big budget Disney film.
    I just want actors promoting a film, being happy to be in the film and playing that role, being excited about it.
    And not trashing the audience and previous versions of said film to try and promote THE MESSAGE.
    I will happily check out Snow White and the Evil Queen and if it is truly good watch it with my daughters, along with the original animated film and ignore the MODERN Disney version.

    Affirmative action and Diversity Policies have been daftness in action by separating us instead of uniting us. Such is life from then till now

    ...Just me, or does the Snow White lady on the left (of the thumbnail) kind of look like the dude who plays Loki there?

    FYI...test screenings of Snow White say she and Evil Queen actress Gal Gadot are "wonderful."

    Disney: oh let’s remake a beloved movie that people have enjoyed for over 50 years
    Also Disney: but let’s add the formula that everyone hates and been cutting our profits as well unlikable people to play iconic roles to destroy the original successful story
