This is the second time today I have watched this video. I got interrupted a couple of times this morning so I thought I would watch it again so I could study it in detail😊 I would love to see what the Indonesians do and some of the general footage of the show. Everything you put on your channel is so interesting and educational.
I dont know if you remember me messageing you a few years back about the diversity of crayfish in Alabama. I wish i had known you got to visit my very diverse state Chris. My best friend and my nephew are very knowledgeable of the fish and crayfish in our states waters. My nephew host a few native fish keepers every year for a week after Christmas to travel the state and collect shiners and darters. Thanks for all you do for this wonderful hobby. I've been keeping fish since i was 7 years old. I'm now 74 and still have 5 aquariums going
i think i remember you...i will be in Alabama in May..i want to check the shiners and dartes but of course also the crayfish again. If you are in Alabama we can meet and have a waffle at the Waffle house....
This is the best channel that covers so many of the amazing things that people are getting involved in all over the world of Aquatics. Thank you for all the efforts you have been keeping many of us informed and inspired to get more out of the best hobby
I folllow you in social media, but I recently discovered your channel Chris. I love the content so much. I appreciate all the hard work you put behind this...
Fascinating to hear of Indonesia’s aquascaping. I would love to see more about it. I appreciate this video with the information about various wood types for the aquarium. Also enjoy the video of the natural waterways. I find those very inspirational for my own aquarium setups.
I absolutely love wood in aquariums. I personally feel like there is a lot to be learned from Bonsai artists, and their work with driftwoods. I like the way they create flow and movement with woods. I was watching the way those Indonesian aquascapers were working heavily with wood, and that was very interesting for me to see. Another thing I took from this video was the way the riverbeds actually look in nature. You could take three photographs in literally the same place, create an aquascape of the 3 photographs and end up with one heavily planted tank, one blackwater tank, and an aquascape that is just open substrate with river rocks dotted around and lots of negative space. Brilliant Video, Chris!
Your friend's shop has really beautiful aquariums! It would be really cool if you could show them to us someday. Also, wow, the Indonesian aquascapers are really amazing. I would love to see a video about them. I love the way roots look in an aquarium.
I love this video! Thank you for sharing Chris, and I would love to see some videos on some of the Indonesian aquascapes, they do a remarkable job with the wood and they are very inspirational, I to can look at them for hours, only a few years ago we here in Australia were very limited on the wood we could get but now here in recent years it has exploded with the aquascaping scene, I must of been a little ahead of my time as for years I have loved not only keeping the hardscape in the aquarium but I to like making them protrude the tank, even sedges or large plants growing out, I have used some of our local Eucalyptus wood in the past and it is so heavy and hard the beauty is it sinks immediately but not only that I have taken pieces out of tanks that I have had submersed for years and have had to cut them to fit other tanks and some were still dry in the middle they are so dense, but in saying that they are also hard to cut, once again a great video, I look forward to more like this my friend 🙂
My driftwood that I used was the spider driftwood it changed color and a bacteria bloom was present ...I tried twice boiling the wood totally not happy with the end results. Thank you for the amazing video 😊
Very informative (question at the end). I pick my own wood from local area and you gave me a brand new angle at it’s role in aquatic communities. What are the fish at 16’30”? Thanks.
@@chrislukhaup zero unfortunately. I was looking into what will be my next fish, was torn between dario dario and parosphromenus linkei until I stumbled upon those little guys. the way they move/ behave I really like. While videos here on yt go back 7-9 years, information appears to be scarce to non existent.

Great video, thank you.
What wood could I use in my sulawesi tank that won't affect the water parameters or lower my pH?
Maybe a bit off topic, but what are those HOB-filters on those nanoscapes in the gallery?
Awesome video btw!
they are Dennerle Hang on Filters
Hey Chris! Very nice! Take a look at my XXL scape with 340 gallons. 😊
How long do you have to water the Curlwood? Had it watered for 2 weeks, put it in my running aquarium and my Ramirezi died in the same night
if you have just one small one not too long…around 3 to 4 water changes….if you change weekly
👍🏻👍🏻
