Monster and Lotto are often linked to Obsession, and I would also include one of their Japanese releases Electric Kiss. Most watch the dance practice of this as it has great choreography, but I love the MV. If you like Star Wars, they collaborated with Disney to make a song to promote the franchise in Asia, Lightsaber. The MV is short, it works well if watched together with the live version.

What you saw in the "Obsession" MV was that EXO's doppelgangers were actually their alter ego clones and they were using their superpowers, such as Chanyeol with his fire power, Sehun uses his wind power to deflect the arrows, Baekhyun uses his power of light as a saber in the fencing battle, and Suho (the one with red hair) controls water in the room with all the pictures of water, etc. to fight their other selves. At the very end you see the planet on fire in the end of the MV because it's supposed to show how the world is coming to an end as EXO (the good guys in all black) and X-EXO (the evil ones in the colorful outfits with crazy hair and makeup) battle for control, etc. (Each of the members are playing 2 different characters -- there are only 6 people in this MV.) X-EXO has been created by the evil Red Force and EXO and X-EXO are fighting each other. EXO are trying to prevent X-EXO from taking over and corrupting humanity and X-EXO are trying to stop EXO from finding the Tree of Life and putting the two halves back together and restoring peace, etc. To truly understand EXO, you need to be aware that EXO debuted in 2012. "Mama" is EXO's debut song and MV and it is how EXO was introduced to the world and it explains the group's concept -- and since then, everything SM does branches off from that storyline. From day one, EXO's concept is that they are aliens from planet Exo and they came to Earth with superpowers to protect the Tree of Life from the Red Forces. Each of the members has a superpower that is unique to them and almost every MV will have at least one, if not all of them, using their powers. Now you also need to know that In the beginning there was 12 members and they were split up into 2 groups EXO-K and EXO-M. EXO-K sang and performed their songs in Korean and EXO-M sang and performed those same songs in Mandarin Chinese. EXO-K had 6 Korean members and EXO-M had 4 Chinese members and 2 Korean members. So, to really understand their full origin story, you have to watch both the K and the M version of "Mama", because the EXO-K version focuses on the K members and their powers and the EXO-M version focuses on the M members and their powers. But I think it's still even more complex than that. I think at times we have been watching EXO, and at times we have been watching X-EXO -- with the release of "Obsession" we have only just discovered that the story hasn't necessarily been showing EXO the whole time. With the new information provided to us through "Obsession," it also makes me question how Lay fits within the X-EXO/EXO storyline. Maybe he is one of the members who has been able to break free or avoid the Red Forces' control. In Lay's solo MV for "Sheep," the Allen Walker relift version, we see everything burning outside as if an apocalypse is happening. Maybe "Sheep" is showing us the planet burning from Lay's viewpoint, like we see the world burning at the end of the "Obsession" MV. Also, I believe that the storyline in "Obsession" is connected to SuperM's debut "Jopping" MV storyline. If you pay attention to what Baekhyun and Kai were wearing in "Obsession," those outfits are very similar to the black outfits that Baekhyun and Kai are wearing in the "Jopping" MV. Kai is even wearing the same backpack parachute in both MVs. Which seems to be SM Entertainment's way of making sure we see the connection between those MVs. Therefore, it is thought that, as part of SuperM's storyline, Baekhyun and Kai have gathered the best of the best of SM's groups -- Taemin from SHINee, Taeyong and Mark from NCT, Ten from WayV and Lucas who is a former member of WayV -- to help them battle the Red Force, and maybe, eventually, take down X-EXO. Just like the Marvel Avengers come together as individual superheroes with their own storylines to create the Avengers and to fight evil, it is thought that SuperM is coming together to create the ultimate supergroup to help EXO fight the evil and corruption inflicted on humanity by the Red Force. Unfortunately, to make it even more difficult to understand, each part of the story is not necessarily in chronological order, so we as EXO-L (EXO fans) have to become detectives and analyze every aspect of all of their teasers, MVs, song lyrics, albums, concert VCRs, choreography and even live performances and piece it all together to understand the story behind it all. And not only are EXO's and SuperM's MVs and storylines connected, but pretty much all of SM's groups have storylines and concepts that connect together, which is designed to become part of one giant graphic novel or movie in the SM Culture Universe. To help you pinpoint the powers being used in EXO's MVs and live performances, here is a list of the members and what their special power is. Their versatility in their discography is one of the main unique things about EXO, together with their insane vocals, that sets them apart from the rest. Their b-sides are crazy good and there is something for everyone as they cover a lot of genres. The Obsession album for example is a must listen if you liked this song that is the title track of the album.
Actually EXO is the king of dark concepts😁 I highly recommend Monster, Lotto and Jekyll (doesn’t have an official MV). They’re also so dark and cool🔥 Also their singing talent is phenomenal in these songs.

You "were expecting a boy group K-pop song." Honestly, I'm GenX and avoided K-pop for that reason until EXO in July. I heard their skills and I was like, "Wow! This is grown folks music! And they can sing!" I've been deep down in the rabbit hole since. And loving it! It's funny you weren't expecting what you happily found in Obsession. I was the same. But EXO has been all over the place over the years... Like other commenters, I strongly suggest their classics "Tempo," "Call Me Baby," "Monster" (those harmonies, OMG) and their debut "Mama." They get hardcore party with "Drop That (Live)" and smooth with "Groove" and "Ooh La La La." And "Artificial Love" is a more mellow, funky EDM piece. They hit RnB hard. I can listen to the newer "Hear Me Out" and "Let Me In" all day. Honestly, I can listen to these guys harmonize anything all day. I'm sure you won't be able to react to all the suggestions. I just think you might find those songs interesting on your own. Anyway, I really enjoy how well you explain your reactions. Thank you and happy listening! lol

And not only are EXO's and SuperM's MVs and storylines connected, but pretty much all of SM's groups have storylines and concepts that connect together, which is designed to become part of one giant graphic novel or movie in the SM Culture Universe.
To help you pinpoint the powers being used in EXO's MVs and live performances, here is a list of the members and what their special power is.
EXO-K
💦 Suho (Kim JunMyeon) is the leader of the group and he is a lead vocalist -- his power is the ability to control water (Fun fact: Suho in Korean means guardian, as in the guardian of EXO. That's why as the leader of EXO, his stage name is Suho.)
💡Baekhyun is a main vocalist and his superpower is the ability to control light
🔥Chanyeol is the main rapper and lead vocalist -- his power is the ability to control fire and his spirit animal is the phoenix.
🌏D.O. (Do KyungSoo) is a main vocalist and his power is the ability to control earth (dirt), which gives him super strength/force
☄Kai (Kim JongIn) is a main dancer, lead vocalist and sub-rapper and his power is teleportation (Kai means opening as in a door or gateway, so his stage name is meant to symbolize his role in the group.)
🌪Sehun is the youngest member of the group and he is a lead rapper, lead dancer and a vocalist -- his power is the ability to control wind
EXO-M
❄Xiumin (Kim MinSeok) is the oldest member of the group and he is a lead vocalist and lead rapper and his power is the ability to control snow/ice (frost)
🦄 Lay (Zhang Yixing) is the Chinese member of the group, he is a main dancer, lead vocalist and rapper -- his power is the ability to heal anything.
🌩 Chen (Kim JongDae) is a main vocalist and his power is the ability to control thunder/lightning/electricity
(As you can see, Xiumin and Chen were given stage names that sounded more Chinese so they would fit in better in EXO-M because they are the Korean members of the Chinese group.)
The Chinese members who are no longer part of the group, but are still an important part of EXO's storyline:
🐉 Kris was the leader of EXO-M he was a main rapper and vocalist -- his power was the ability to fly and his spirit animal was a dragon (Kris left the group in April 2014.)
💭 Luhan was a main vocalist and his power was telekinesis (The ability to control things with his mind) (Luhan left the group in October 2014.)
⏰Tao (Z.Tao) was a lead rapper and vocalist and the martial artist of the group, so he did the flips and stunts in the group's routines. His power was the ability to control time (Tao ended activities with EXO in August 2015.)
Thank you so much for all of that information. I will try to dive into it a bit but I doubt I will go as far as to follow the lore in that detail. I will be happy if I know the members names by Christmas and I even think I won't even remember that. But I am trying... I will enjoy the MVs and the live performances and take it from there.

Their versatility in their discography is one of the main unique things about EXO, together with their insane vocals, that sets them apart from the rest. Their b-sides are crazy good and there is something for everyone as they cover a lot of genres. The Obsession album for example is a must listen if you liked this song that is the title track of the album.

Since you like EDM and club scene, I suggest watching EXO’s concert stage for Diamond, Drop That, Run This, and Power (all in one video) because you’ll see how they make a set for their concert turn into a rave. It’s so fun to watch.
You "were expecting a boy group K-pop song." Honestly, I'm GenX and avoided K-pop for that reason until EXO in July. I heard their skills and I was like, "Wow! This is grown folks music! And they can sing!" I've been deep down in the rabbit hole since. And loving it! It's funny you weren't expecting what you happily found in Obsession. I was the same. But EXO has been all over the place over the years... Like other commenters, I strongly suggest their classics "Tempo," "Call Me Baby," "Monster" (those harmonies, OMG) and their debut "Mama." They get hardcore party with "Drop That (Live)" and smooth with "Groove" and "Ooh La La La." And "Artificial Love" is a more mellow, funky EDM piece. They hit RnB hard. I can listen to the newer "Hear Me Out" and "Let Me In" all day. Honestly, I can listen to these guys harmonize anything all day. I'm sure you won't be able to react to all the suggestions. I just think you might find those songs interesting on your own. Anyway, I really enjoy how well you explain your reactions. Thank you and happy listening! lol
