@brodiebrazil I would say the Max Fried and Blake Snell signings were much bigger signings than Severino. Maybe you meant franchise record breaking contracts? If we're being honest the A's having a franchise record breaking contract isn't very difficult since they had the lowest bar to pass than any of the other 29 teams. Blake Snell and Max Fried are much "bigger" contracts than Severino though.
@mikepuncsak7297 that applies to more than John Fisher, it also applies to Jerry Reinsdorf, ex-Mets owner Fred Wilpon, Tom Ricketts of the Cubs, Ralph Nutting in Pittsburgh and a few other owners as well!
The irony is not lost on the A's move to a minor league stadium, given their financial resources. The humor escalates with the team's shift to Sacramento and the impending move to Las Vegas, amidst the backdrop of hefty player salaries. The consequences of these relocations for both cities are yet to be determined. Fisher's seeming indifference, especially following the potential green light for the new Howard Terminal ballpark, indicates a possible oversight. This raises the question of when he will recognize the predicament. As previously mentioned, it appears improbable. After all, this is Fisher, whose management style is infamously inadequate but comically so. Seriously, who conducts business in such a manner?
I love the grounded reality of this channel!!! *If you are not in the financial market space right now, you are making a huge mistake. I understand that it could be due to ignorance, but if you want to make your money work for you..prevent inflation.*
I feel sympathy and empathy for our country, low income earners are suffering to survive, and I appreciate Wayne. You've helped my family with your advice. imagine investing $10,000 and receiving $35,460 after 28 days of trading.
Honestly, our government has no idea how people are suffering these days. I feel sorry for disabled people who don't get the help they deserve. All thanks to Mr Michael Wayne, after investing $1,500 and receiving $6,700 in a few days
While I didn’t know about these fine points in regards to revenue sharing, I am absolutely unsurprised Fisher found a way to get more money without being a good businessman, just a greedy pig.
Not sure how this would work out, but revenue sharing should be changed. If revenue sharing matched only half of your team’s payroll at the start of a season it could artificially create a salary floor. Example if you want the $70 million at the start of this season, your team payroll would have to be $140 million. You want to be cheap and pay $30 million, the league gives you $15 million. Unspent revenue sharing goes into a players’ union fund to go after owners who don’t spend enough to keep a competitive team; perhaps as a way to find new owners to replace the bad ones who don’t want to spend. The sum of what revenue sharing is could be a part of winter meetings, so all owners know how much they need to spend to get their full share, and still have plenty of time to hit that goal.
No professional baseball player wants to play for the A’s in a little league park in a dump like Sacramento with sweltering summer heat . The MLPA should put their foot down and end this sham . Force Fisher to deal with Oakland work out a reasonable deal to use the Coliseum for the next 3 years until their new stadium is built ..The coliseum is a dump but it’s a professional league dump at least ..
Salary Floors should be instituted in all leagues, especially ones with revenue sharing. Good to see that the A's will spend for once... just a shame it's now and not while they were in Oakland...
@@bronxpinstripesYou don't get it, do you? True A's fans were protesting Fisher's ownership by voting with their wallets. "If you don't like something, don't buy it." That works with information too, by the way. If Fisher had been a better owner, and ponied up bigger bucks earlier, OR if someone like a Joe Lacob buys the team and keeps them IN Oakland, the team would pull 2 million+ fans over their 81 home games a season.
I was so excited for this video when you hinted at it during the livestream, always interesting to hear your insights! I think the team objectively painted themselves into a corner, meaning they'll need to part with more money and overpay players than theyd like for anyone they have interest in. With the prospective stadium costs going up as well, lets just say the GAP sales events may be shorter next year.
I wonder if the A's still have comments turned off on social media. Because this is a black eye to Oakland A's fans. Jesus. I'm glad I'm no longer an A's fan.
I'm still an A's fan until I see what shakes out over the next few years, but may end up with you as an ex-fan at some point. Kind of like I am an ex-Raider fan these days...
It's just a business to fish head! It becomes more obvious as time passes. No interest in building a competitive team. And his actions have alienated the heart, soul and core of the A's fan base. Vegas doesn't want the A's, Dodger and Padre territory. They will have little or no support in Vegas. And this free agent is nothing more than fulfilling a requirement.
Does Oakland have to maintain the $100 million payroll for the whole season or do they just have to have a $100 million payroll at the start of the season? Asking because the possibility of a Fisher stunt exists where he signs players to get to that point, trades them at or before the deadline, then repeats in the 2025, 2026, 2027 offseasons and so on or until the potential loophole is closed.
Fisher wasn't spending in Oakland because he wanted to drive away the fanbase to justify moving the team. Manfred, the useless commissioner was in on it too. Remember the big crowds in the playoff years: 2012, 2013? The A's can draw when they win! Keep up the good work, Brody Brazil!
Slap in the face to Las Vegas, too. A’s spend club record for a player who will play in Sacramento. Severino will be gone before the A’s move to Vegas.
About 20 years too late.. should've done that when they had one of the most talented rosters in MLB... The list of former A's who had major success elsewhere is sickening lol..
Well, the Sac TV contract comes in handy. It guarantees (with revenue sharing) they'll have enough money for the major league roster. I hope Kaval saved up enough money; I think the radio contract will be split between he, the GM, and Kotsay...

This cycle becomes difficult when you dint invest in community, stadium, fans, and team. Every decision has an opportunity cost associated with it. By kicking the can down down the road so long, the As find themselves in a minor league stadium. Reduced fan base, and pressure from the union and others owners to finally spend on payroll with a reduced income stream. Couldn't happen to a better ownership and management team.

Why? A minimum wage for baseball players?
He's right, one more big slap in the face to Oakland fans.
if the owner of the A's had his way, they'd never field a team and just collect a check
If he is making profits doing so what is wrong with that?

You mean "This organization is a joke" right? The team can't perform without a good organization.
@WesJamison the owner yeah
The commissioner used to be independent of the owners, now he works for them
They're building a $1.75 billion stadium in Vegas.
I think the reason why they're in Sacramento (with plans to go to Vegas) is because of Manfred...
I wish I could feel bad for somebody here, but when you're a business depending on taxpayers for survival your business model is wrong.
So much shadiness in the A's ownership situation.
Athletics, Pirates, and Rays need to start spending
Also the Rockies and Angels
Mariners as well. I know there's a few big contracts in there but so what. These owners are BILLIONAIRES
