    I live in a historic 1913 craftsman bungalow. Most of the wood work in our home was painted, until I purchased a surfprep 3x4 sander. The surfprep makes restoring all the wood in my home so fast and easy and is virtually dust free which is awesome for my young family. Surfprep is the best!

    Wow. I'm new to furniture restoration. I just bought my SurfPrep Sanding System. I've got it packed away because I just had a shoulder replacement, so sadly I can't "work" on anything right now. I just want to say this is the BEST video I've seen yet about how to set up that vacuum hose. I'm really looking forward to using my sander in the spring. And I'll be looking at your other how to videos. THANKS.

    So thankful you did this excellent video! I am getting ready to purchase this sander today. I purchased a fixer house and am a complete novice. I will be stripping railing, window trim, and cabinets to restrain. It is so helpful that you included the sandpaper grit for stripping!!! Extremely inspiring for me to see a woman doing this and makes me feel confident that I will be able to complete my projects. THANK YOU!!!

    Thank you so much for this demo! I opened my Surf Prep the other day and had no idea how to attach the black hose to the sander. I haven't yet looked at the attachment for the shop vac. Also, I bought a dust catcher to try to preserve the filter on my shop vac. Will look at it all soon. Love your work, your explanations and your 10 minute Tuesdays.

    Am considering this sander, saw that another refinisher i follow uses it, too. I’ll just be doing smaller furniture pieces as a hobby. She uses the 5” orbital but my gut tells me that the 3x4 is sufficient for me - what would added benefit of 5” orbital other than increased sanding surface? And (may be a dumb question) could I attach this to my house vacuum - it’s a higher end canister w/ good motor. (Hate the idea of buying a shop vac as I am short of storage room.)
    TIA and you do a great job on-camera explaining. Not everyone can do that!

    • @BellaRenovare

  • @SethCorbinMusic
    @SethCorbinMusic 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    My assumption is that the surfprep foam sanders are better for irregular contours, but not near as good as a high quality random orbit sander. For this price you could get a Festool sander which is way better for flat surfaces

    • @BellaRenovare
      @BellaRenovare  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can use it for either surface. They have random orbitals as well. This originally was made for cabinet refinishers. Festool is a good brand too. They all have their strengths and weaknesses. I will say one thing that is really important to me is customer service and how a company treats me and that has been amazing with surf prep.

    • @SethCorbinMusic
      @SethCorbinMusic 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@BellaRenovare hmm, that is good to know about their customer service. I am interested in a foam pad sander for contours, but almost all the sanding I do is flat surfaces which is where my random orbital sanders shine. But when you need to sand contours, nothing beats these I bet

  • @thewoodologist8176
    @thewoodologist8176 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Surfprep is a great sander, although i use it for sanding in between coats, with the 3mm stroke and small surface area its great for light work especially with their soft pads. Now if you're looking for a serious tool, a festool rotex in aggressive mode could have that whole table sanded in 30 seconds with a 100 grit paper and zero dust. Now if you want something great for an all around sander, the festool ets or mirka deros with 5 mm stroke are the best there is out there.

      I think I've seen every TH-cam video on Festool and Surfprep. Why the top of the line and most expensive? Because I have asthma and have suffered trying to work on all of the projects I have been "collecting" projects with great intentions to restore. I do not like a lot of the furniture we see in stores these days. I love the things I have refinished, including painting. So, I bit the bullet and bought a CT36, Festool sander I wanted, some other accessories, and a surfprep. I don't do TH-cam videos, but I have bought a lot of sanders for projects. Ridiculous waste of money. My very sick dog just passed. I'm going to use my grief and put my emotions to work. Thanks for your info and input.
