This car was way ahead of its time. We still have this. We also had a Merc and a BMW but My dad always preferred this over the other two. I know why whenever I drive it. It’s so classy and powerful. By the way the BMW and the Merc have so many mechanical problems but this crown still works like it was new in 19991. The best car we have ever owned
The fridge option is my favorite. I used to leave a small Pepsi can in the fridge when I was a kid in iraq during a family trip. Good memories for sure.
Oh yes, really nice car. Those, the "Brazilis', Mazda 626 and early BME 5 series were very common cars, even as taxis. I also remember Opel Vectra being common in Kurdistan.
Never seen something so ahead of its time. As for the swing vents, I have them on my LS430. Trust me, once you try it, you won't want another car without it.
Me too. They both have the 2JZ GTE. SUPRA has the Non VVTI version while Aristo has both the VVTI and Non VVTI because the VVTI is for the JZS161 Aristo and the Non VVTI is in the JZS147 version of the Aristo only. There is also a JZS160 version of the JZS161, 160 and 161 have the same body but the 160 uses the 2JZ-GE instead of the GTE.
I own Toyota Crown Royal Saloon A/T 1991, S130 Model GS131, Engine 1G-FE 2000cc DOHC 24 valves, Silver color, interior seats Maroon color , full leather dashboard with analog meter, not digital meter, telescopic & tilt steering, driver`s power seat, power sliding back seat, Auto A/C, front auto swing A/C vent, rear A/C vent, rear small fridge, the same model as yours but the windows are not frameless, your Crown is Hardtop model, the backlight model is different too, my Crown has Red light on upperside, Yellow light and backward light on downside, this vintage car is really awesome, I`m in Jakarta, Indonesia.....
I currently owned a factory 2.5ltr 1Jz-ge jzs131 1990 one of these absolutely love it!! Also just purchased a rolling body aswell!! With original wheels and radio which I will use on my other one! I even have all the floor mats 😁
Replace with ARP head studs and increase the torque and it solves the gasket issues. However 5m and 7m engines are notorious for rod knock later in life too. Still, replace those parts and the 7Ms actually can take and make a whole lot of power. You just have to be committed to them. IMO, they'll start getting more popular as JZs dry up.
at least Crown 7MGE were far better than Cressida, Crown were the only 7MGE with a Karman-Vortex MAF 7M headgasket is dick all too, toss in ARP head studs to the higher spec and youre set. 7M headgasket pays only 6hrs labour
even a 7M non turbo still goes through head gaskets, here in Australia they came standard in Cressida's and probably 9/10 have head gasket problems later in life. ide get a crown with literally any engine besides a 7M
This is kind of like the Japanese version of a Lincoln Town Car, very traditional and lots of velour. Mmmmm velour. Also the US market did receive a version of this car, kind of. The Toyota Cressida, same exact engine/transmission as this car, same chassis, different body that somehow manages to look like this car but isn't. Toyota did this a lot with the Crown platform during this time, make several different versions that look almost the same but are not the same, different fenders, doors, bumpers, etc.
Hey Derick, was the Eclipse ever optioned to leather seats? I thought I saw leather seats in a Mitsubishi Eclipse. The interior was tan. It was hard to tell if it was leather or not
Super (not Royal) Saloon 80-82 models were the 'it' cars in Saddam's Iraq. He awarded them to all army officers, ministers, directors, etc. Also, a generic CROWN 4-cylinder version was imported by the thousands for the use as TAXIs in the entire country and the government traded them for any old taxi (mandatory of course). Many of those are still in service and Toyotas of all models and sizes imported those years are what carried a country reliably through all the wars, embargos, poverty and lack of service and parts. Their reliability speaks a lot of Toyota quality that used to be.
There are a couple of JDM Toyota Crowns driving around were l live in Australia and we did have tge Toyota Crowns in Australia in the 1960s infact the first Toyota l rode in was a Toyota Crown and there was even a ute Toyota Crown but instead of a six cylinder the ute had a four cylinder engine which was a 5R but we bet the recent Crowns because in Australia there are JDM vehicles that are under a year old and because coming from Japan they are obviously right hand drive and in Australia you cannot register a left habd drive vehicle in Australia you used to be able to many many years ago and before you could register that vehicle and still renew the registration on that vehicle hence there a couple of Mustangs and Corvettes and American cars driving around that are left hand drive but once a car is registered in Australia you can keep registered for the life of the vehicle
I am pretty sure if you guys enjoyed this video you guys would like a few of the videos I am making of my car check them out. I've always hated it that Toyota kept a good cars out of the u.s. arrrg
1993 Crown Majesta due to the engines 2JZGE or 1UZFE. This cars platform is also on the 1993 GS300 platform so other parts are easy to get here. The non turbo Aristo (GS300) 2JZGE or a regular 1992-93 Crown Royal Saloon 1JZGE/1UZFE. All of these cars are affordable and will have lower miles. They typically are driven by older people and due to the gas tax the 1UZFE (4.0V8) goes for less. Also, all the above mentioned cars you can get parts in the USA. Most people focus on the twin turbo cars and drive the prices up where as these can be very reasonable to purchase.
Derek; You've been in Japan too long, I think I heard you say "styring" in your intro. BTW, you seem to have an accent similar to Linus from LinusTechTips, is this a Canadian west coast thing?
Worst engine ever. Had a Cressida and did not believe what I had heard about them, now I do not know if I could ever buy a Toyota again. Evil cursed engine. Beautiful perfect big body cars. If I can find a Cressida for what I sold mine for I will take the risk again.
This car comes in a 1UZFE engine the same as the Lexus and you can also get the 1JZGE and that is also very reliable. You just have to stay away from the G series.
This car was way ahead of its time. We still have this. We also had a Merc and a BMW but My dad always preferred this over the other two. I know why whenever I drive it. It’s so classy and powerful. 28 years old and still near perfect. Wish I would hold up that well 😉
Tharmas13 Store yourself in a well conditioned garage, do maintnence often and don't go to the mountine passes:D
The fridge option is my favorite. I used to leave a small Pepsi can in the fridge when I was a kid in iraq during a family trip. Good memories for sure.
When I was on holiday, these were all over Japan. They were most commonly used as taxis. I love the look of them.
These also came supercharged. I love the "3D" dash.
Back in Iraq this was very famous and everyone dreamed of owning one
Still this car and other crowns very popular in Iraq

Beautiful and classy. Sedans/saloons might not be taking the beating in the market if they still looked like this?
my first JDM car back in the 1970s was a Custom Crown..loved it so ended up with 4 of them.U.K..
I had a brand new one, I miss it so much. I loved it.
Hope one day, you can show us a Nissan President!
That car actually exists???

hey man do you still own it if so do you daily drive it and has any issues arrised?
@@c3l1y no problems mate it done 300thau KMs too everything still works mint
The non-turbo 7M were just as bad for head gaskets unfortunately. Plenty of dead Cressidas to attest to this :)
what about the cressidas?? what happened to them

In Singapore we did get it in fact we used to have cab that is Toyota crown.
I had one and had to sell it for a GET THIS "A MINNI VAN" Yep a van for the kids...I sure miss it...it was a beautiful car!

I bet Doug meduro would love to review one of these lol such a cool ride
They infested the streets of Hong Kong as taxis at one point.
those were Toyota Crown Comfort - a little different than these
Toyota Crown Comfort is smaller size as taxi in Hong Kong.
Build quality, finish and material quality on these Toyota's was stunning. Would shame a lot of so called premium cars today.
These Toyota’s were so nice, if only they kept making the same quality for all their products they would be the standard for interiors and not VW.
Wow that's got to be the nicest 1990 car i've seen since the mid 90's LOL
Please help, what is the lever marked "lock" for, it is positioned under the rudder, thanks for your collaboration

absolutely beautiful i want one
one of my best car ever made
Supra and Aristo, I'll take 2 please!
This is why i want to import, the mileage is always great. And The wheels alone are worth the price.
Send in your yen and do it! It can be really rewarding. You just have to be realistic on price and patient.
This one is probably going to JDM Auto and Motorcycle in WA.
Gabriel Godby could you send me a link to PCA cars? The only thing that came up when I search PCA is Porsche Club if America 🧐
Gabriel Godby no, unfortunately Illinois
Car is going to Baltimore
Tim ok thank you. My guess was wrong. Enjoy the car!
:)
I want this car so badly : /
Well contact Derek there is a huge surplus of the 1989-90 Crowns just dont get a G series engine.
J J It's a nightmare to import right wheel drive cars to Norway. Most people import to Sweeden first and then to Norway. But wish I could.
Hey Derick, was the Eclipse ever optioned to leather seats? I thought I saw leather seats in a Mitsubishi Eclipse. The interior was tan. It was hard to tell if it was leather or not
wofkotto it could be aftermarket
wofkotto eclipse had either leather or alacantra :) mine 1g has thebalacantra fabrik very nice seats :)

Is the tv bluetooth enabled?
Quite a visionary interior in terms of the IP.
Is the car name royal saloon or a crown? Is the royal saloon name of the trim model of the vehicle?
Super Cool
Gotta torque that head gasket
Does any1 know where to buy parts for these kind of cars. I have a crown from 1988 and I need exhaust system, tail lights etc.
Is the screen touchscreen?
Is it legal to drive a left hand drive car on the US?
Hey bendaga ur right it’s a 2JZ engine.

this crown we call it hardtop in iraq because it has frameless glass
Too bad this car is Totalled now. It was for sale in Pennsylvania $1500 sold by a kid. Soo sad.

hello mate i would like to ask you if i can ship toyota crown 2010 can i do that or not ?
yes sir i had a royal saloon about a1981 beautifull car,but it rusted out gave it to a maori for 10$
Toyota didn't offered the Crown in Canada nor the US because otherwise it would have destroyed GM.
someone help me for rims type and size, also tyre size please...
Hi Derek, this is amazing. Could you source me something exactly like this but for export to the UK? Can I email you my details? Thanks.
