Great video again, thanks :) Was a bit confused when you were referring to Gregor Samsa as "George". His name isn't George and Gregor isn't even the Russian version of George, it's Gregory. Not a huge complaint, just a bit jarring. Keep up the good work.

Lindsay Jacobs' strong implied story was possibly the saddest side story in Downpour.

I noticed this last night, but if you look at a certain wall with the UV light, you can see someone wrote "sequestered does not equal safe" meaning that even isolation or solitude cant keep you safe (probably from yourself)
I thought that was really poetic :)

I like the way you narrate the videos. Also, I've never seen a youtuber that takes the lore of a game so serious. I like it, because to me, the lore is what justifies the mechanics of the game, and therefore, what shapes the game as a product, or as a piece if you want

Awsome Job!! Even that I'm not very expert in psychology, it makes a lot of sense what you are saying. In Silent Hill official trivia, the name Murphy means "sea warrior" and Sewell means "Sea powerful or Sea king".
I'm looking forward a Symbolism of Silent hill downpour, KEEP GOING!

The screen quickly fades and reveals an execution chamber at Ryall State. Murphy was scheduled to be executed for the murder of his own son, a crime he committed in retaliation on his wife for taking Charlie's custody away from him. He was also convicted of the murder of Officer Frank Coleridge. Before the lethal injection is administered, Sewell asks Murphy for his final words; he answers, "See you in hell, cupcake", before dying.

I like reading all the epistolary and bibliographic items in Downpour because it just really resonates with Murphy's character and the theme of penance through punishment. I remember him reacting so horrified about that side quest where he followed those ribbons and realized that child's fate and her mother's decision. Heartbreaking. I also loved the art room for that one side quest, where Murphy investigates the map and paintings, and I can make out some scribbles of other conspiracy theorists who were looking into it as well, lol. And that one side quest where he enters an apartment to recall the scene of a crime so he can help avenge the murdered family. Ugh, Downpour, it's so good.

I'm sure it's confusing due to the game, but Conduct Disorder wouldn't apply to any characters as they are all adults. Conduct Disorder relates to a child or adolescent with a complex that refuses to learn or respect the laws of society and others rights. The adult manifestation, which many diagnosed with Conduct Disorder eventually have a replacement diagnosis with, is known as Antisocial Personality Disorder since it is not believed that you have the capacity to have a Personality to be distorted in childhood. Just something I wanted to point out.

Gotta say, this is definitely one of your better videos, especially with the music, which was really fitting in that odd sort of way. Try to keep that ten-minute length going, I can't get a good fix off only seven or eight minutes.

It's odd they mention conduct disorder, since that diagnosis is only for children and early teens. Interesting correlation though is children diagnosed with conduct disorder and are not treated often develop into Antisocial Personality Disorder. So perhaps Murphy was diagnosed with Conduct Disorder and was never treated? Just speculating. Excellent video as always :)

I don't know if you have a degree in psychology, but I want to just make a quick statement.
You spoke a bit about PTSD "which may have in turn, affected [Murphy's] ability to empathize with others and respect authority and law". I have PTSD from being deployed to Iraq in the US Army and I personally know a few other people that have it too, so I am not just going from my personal experience.
But, PTSD is not usually linked to intentional disregard for the law, and the symptoms for PTSD do not include recidivist behavior. The thing that makes it a "disorder" is that you become panicked in certain situations, and that some sleep issues and the avoidance of areas or people that remind us of traumatic events.
In my experience, I have become far more empathetic and sympathetic [yes, they're different] and so have my friends. Please be careful to not "misdiagnose" fictional characters with psychological issues. PTSD already has a stigma around it, and telling people that PTSD leads to problems with empathy, the law and authority makes people like me seem unapproachable or dangerous. There has been enough stigmatization and damage done by the mass media as it is.
Thank you for reading my comment, and I really do love your videos. It's just that this one issue stung me.

I am so sorry that this hurt you, as I never intended that. Murphy's story is in no way a reflection on real mentally ill people anymore than other SH characters are.
I did not mean to imply that it is connected in all cases, so much as it is in just Murphy's case. Having lost his son and becoming dissociative and detached from his life after that, rules and laws no longer mattered to him because what else could be taken from him? These issues seem to be comorbid in his case, but of course real people with PTSD arent generally like this, just like most people who are bullied dont become like Eddie.

The right to vengeance is one of the most ancient and universally recognized, a law older than any government around today so wouldn't it be that modern law and order do not respect either the dignity of victims or natural need to avenge yourself and loved ones which is intrinsic to the human condition?

This is awesome work! Although I don't remember the book "The Metamorphosis" to have a character called George. I think the character you were trying to refer to was Gregor. I remember this because of my first time playing Resident Evil Revelations 2 way back when it first released by episodes and its deep references regarding Franz Kafka and his literal work.
Hopefully, in the future, you can make some Resident Evil Revelations symbolism videos, as the Revelation series have so many references of both Dante's Inferno and Franz Kafka.

Muse, what do you make of these creepy pictures of monsters hanging on the walls around the building? I know one was of the Doll monster, but the other picture was of the final boss from the first Silent Hill game. Its always kind of bugged me why it makes an appearance, almost as if its connected to something.

The jail warden said that Murphy had no criminal record. Then all of the sudden he took a police cruiser. He even said that Murphy was not like the other inmates and actually believed him to be a good person. So what problem with the law would Murphy have? And I’m not gonna loose sleep over some scum that kills children. So I can’t be mad on that cause Murphy at least had a good reason. Anne was absolutely convinced that Murphy hurt her father which isn’t true. So no wonder why Murphy has a problem with the crazy lady that keeps hunting him down and think he’s responsible for something he had nothing to do with or even knows what happened
The only problem with authority Murphy would have is maybe the police not handling his son’s case as they should. Or maybe Napier got off to easy and Murphy would be understandably upset about it

How much of Japanese do you know? Do you also make analysis videos as well by using Japanese language for games like Resident Evil, Silent Hill or other games that are primarily created by developers from Japan, if so then you should collaborate with other youtubers because stuff like this is mindblowing and in my opinion the original japanese words are more faithful and tells the narrative of how these games are supposed!

@gamingmuse, reference Ravens of the Native Americans using an Inupiat, Arctic Native, wearing a Puffin headdress with A fish in its beak. The derogatory term "Eskimo" has been given them as a label. There are Inupiat and Inuit under this label. Fyi. 😉
