He probably sees different musicians all the time and can't remember everybody's name. And quite frankly, all he needs to know is what mix they are so he can control it. And yeah he mistook him as the basis, but Syn quickly corrected him.

Shadows sounded pretty rough....not their best performance, but they hadn't even started touring yet so some rust is understandable. They sound a lot better these days. They also seem pretty nervous in the vid....I think they kinda felt it was a sellout move to go on TRL.

A7X is my favorite band but I think they're more hard rock and punk than mostly metal. Like when I think of metal I think of Killswitch Engage, Slipknot, Ozzy, Metallica, Lamb of God, etc. They just seem mostly hard rock and punk. Sure the riffs are heavy and the solos are blistering, but that doesn't make it metal. I'm sure you could counter this reason, but punk can have some heavy riffs in it, and something like jazz can have some pretty fast picking.
How the hell is metal not their main influence? Wicked Ass Solos, Legendary Riffs, Aggressive Vocals, Double-Bass Drums... and last of all Screaming (even though its deteriorated lots since their metalcore days). Yeah they have inklings of country, hip hop, pop, theatrical, etc But their main influence for 90% of their music is clearly of metal influence. Gotta know what 'metal music' is first to even clarify what these guys are, draw from and pay homage to in their wicked tunezz :D
