    Bleu I am currently enrolled in the AHIMA online course to prepare me to take the certification exam for the CCA. Yes the tests may be difficult at times BUT they are preparing you to know your information BEFORE you take the final exam in each course. I would encourage people to give it a chance. I would not reccommend a trade school at $20,000.00. You just need to take it seriously. Thank you for all you do. Happy Holidays!

    Thank you for addressing this, as well as elaborating on the instructor-led versus the self-paced courses. You've made such an impression on me by emphasizing the importance of reading the guidelines. Funny story. I typed in "ICD-10 Official Guidelines for Coding & Reporting" & found another coding channel with someone "explaining them", or so I thought. I was about 10 minutes into the video and she started encouraging everyone to go ahead & start writing and highlighting in all their books. I distinctly recall you saying not to mark up the books because you might not be able to take your exam with them later. She was also really into tabbing sections. I turned her off, LoL. Not calling any names because that's not important, but I do think it's worth mentioning here that all medical coding coaches on TH-cam aren't giving out helpful advice. Also, it's worth noting that she only has about 300 subscribers so she can't hold a candle to you. Thanks again, Bleu.

    Great video! 💙💙💙. Medical coding will definitely humble anyone real quick and it must not be under estimated. When I was training for medical coding, I thought it was super easy. Yeah right! As soon I realized all the variables involved in coding, my mindset changed with the quickness. 😂 By the way, there is a way to not have the "A" attached to your CPC credential. AAPC's removal of the "A" application gives details on the requirements. If you have a medical billing background or something similar you can have your "A" "removed" before taking the exam. A coder did it, and she took her exam, pass, and had no "A" attached to her credential. 🙂

    I just enrolled in the AAPC Medical Coding course only. It gives 12 months to complete. I have to complete the Medical Terminology which is online and pass that completely before it will allow me to move on to anything else. Yes it’s self paced and you might be able to go through it fast but so far I’m not seeing it. What I do not like in the medical terminology and anatomy is there is not a physical book it’s all online so I ordered myself a used book in good condition it’s coming tomorrow. That way I’m not completely tied to my desktop all the time.

    Doing the program currently with an instructor. I feel it’s just ok. I’ve had to do/learn most everything on my own anyway. Don’t know that I’d pay the extra money again for an instructor. I also feel it’s too crammed in and the course needs to be about twice as long at least. Many weeks it’s two chapters a week

      Holy crap 2 chapters a week? I went with the self paced and I'm managing at least one chapter a week. Sometimes one and a half, but that's cause I have kids at home so it's more like part time studying. I have paid 2 months in extensions but I feel like I'm retaining the information a lot better than having all that pressure to just cram so much information in a short amount of time.

      @@BunnyBoo5532 I’m not sure because I never did the class without a teacher. I finished in January and took my exam in February. I think if you have a strong medical background already you can get away with no instructor. You also probably should be a very regimented type person who can hold yourself accountable to stick with a schedule.

    Very informative. I am going to go with the AAPC course based on your recommendation. I am currently employed at the bedside as an RN. The bedside is a burn out! Are there any entry level coding positions for those of us who are already in the medical field? I live in VA and most job postings I've viewed are requiring experience.

    • @MedicalCodingwithBleu
      @MedicalCodingwithBleu  ปีที่แล้ว +7

      My mantra is you apply anyway! Everyone will say they want experience but if happy coders are already working employers have to take what they get.... but you also have to prove with your resume and presentation that you are worth the hire. Good luck!
