Trinidad and Tobago has the gas resources, but do not control international geopolitics and media. Internally, tax reforms and revenue arrangements should benefit the nation and people via projects and programs, not just international speculators seeking quick profits. I hope all political parties and leaders get on the same page and seek mutual interests without selling out to foreign influencers as has been the issue in small state economies. 👏🏼🇹🇹🙏🏼❤️

If Mr Young wants to help the world by ramping up natural gas (and also oil) production, Trinidad’s going to require a lot out outside investment in its energy sector. It’s a shame Mr Young wasn’t asked how he thinks Trinidad will attract such investment given that it imposes the highest (and some highly punitive) taxes in the world on the energy sector. Repeated promises have been made to reform the fiscal system (including promises of a speedy review of all taxes at last October’s budget), but still nothing has been announced. Meanwhile, investment goes elsewhere.

Mr. Quest just because the price of gas went up this year with the war, T&T will not see immediate profits the same year. It will be reflected in the next year financials. Mr. Young may have forgot to mention saving for the rainy day. Over the the past 50 years the price of gas has always rise and fall during tensions in different parts of the world. This is T&T's opportunity to safe guard our economy for the years ahead when gas may not be such a high demanding natural resource.

He should have had made mention of how we save most of these windfalls into our Heritage and Stabilization fund, ensuring we have the means to steer us through difficult times.

Whyyy. Our gas reserves are so small, every other major producer declined requests to step up production, if we do it to help rich countries fill their temporary shortages, we are just going to run out of our own gas faster. Ugh Stewart Young, are you thinking long term???
Trinidad and Tobago still has huge amounts of undiscovered gas reserves (it also has plenty of opportunities to provide its own energy needs from renewable sources instead of gas, thereby increasing the amount of gas available for export).
The problem is that it costs vast amounts of money to look for them/bring them into production and at the moment the taxation system doesn’t encourage people to risk their money paying for those things. The consequence is that reserves are declining when they should be increasing.
The government knows this (see last October’s budget and note that the Finance Minister has a Master’s degree in Oil and Gas Law, with a distinction, with a specialisation in Fiscal Regimes and Oil Taxation). However, it doesn’t seem to be in any sort of hurry to remedy the situation, which is pretty inexcusable given Trinidad’s poor economic performance since 2015.
Speedy tax reform, which is what the government promised last October, will benefit Trinidad and Tobago. Investment will flood into the country, creating jobs, providing foreign exchange, generating additional taxes, and increasing energy production (in turn generating royalties for the government).
the other nations don't want to ramp up as the price will go down a bit. Trinidad's case is diffrent it has new markets to sell to :)

The problem with health care in Trinidad and Tobago isn't the government. It's the ppl working in the system..the work ethics of most trinibagonians working in the public sector to say it's horrible would be a gross understatement
@@tobagogyal9350 Yes, there are many unethical public servants but I'll go even further and say that the problem with health care in T&T isn't the providers within the system. It's the people, full stop. Each citizen needs to take his/her health seriously so we won't flood the system then complain about overcrowding, lack of beds, long waits, etc.
you want better health care in trinidad ? in england you have to wait 4 hours for an ambulance and when you get to the hospital you have to wait 12 hours till a doctor can see you. so dont worry things not that bad in trinidad.

This Minister is a true politician. Seven minutes of video interview and he said nothing important. To give the International public an insight of how Trini politicians think, the Prime Minister, like every country fighting the Covid pandemic, had shut down the all activities in T & T. Now, he reversed that order and declared to free all activities but closed down the beaches. So the journalists asked him: "Why did he free all activities but closed down the beaches, which for an island is essential for entertainment.?" He replied: " Very simple. The scientists sent him a letter warning him that Covid is coming in waves.
The u.s looks down on caribbean people, I don't see the long term benefits of ramping up productions because they'll soon be importing it

Billions being spent and benefitting and enriching a few, this our population have voted for, decades now. We continue to vote for the 'knees on your neck' governance of the pnm and unc.It is time we stop trying to spray perfume on shit and face the reality that we vote people into our parliament that use our tax dollars for everything else but to benefit the people of this country, we need a psychological evaluation of the entire population to understand why voters continue to vote for pnm and unc.

Atlantic’s Train 1 is offline because of insufficient natural gas, The remaining Trains are running well below capacity…u guessed it - lack of natural gas. The Companies on the Estate are on schedules and still can’t get their requested volumes, but that person above saying what? You had exploration ventures by the upstream companies which produce less than satisfactory gas findings with exploration encouraged by the previous administration. This government after 7.5 years in office has only now announced expression of interest for the deep water blocks arising out of a piss poor showing. These guys knew about the gas shortage well in advance, we are an energy based economy….. explain to me what it is this guy above is really saying please?
