Govinda Vita a high hill, generally attributed to be the site of a Govinda sanctuary and is situated external the northern defense of mahasthinagarh (Pundranagar) of Bogra locality. On its eastern and northern sides streams of the dying Karatoya. K. N. Dikshit unearthed the hill in 1928-29 and Md. Nazimuddin Ahmed led a profound delving here in 1960. The structure stays on the eastern region uncovered four times of building and revamping; the most recent is addressed by a non-descript asphalt of the Sultanate time frame from where 18 coins of the free Sultans of Bengal were rescued. The time frame from the top was addressed by fragmentary dividers of the late Pala period and the third time frame uncovered a complex of dividers and a polygonal stone platform of the early Pala period. The fourth and the soonest period uncovered a square sanctuary with 56 sides, having a special stepped area in the middle, and encompassed by a parade way of the late Gupta period. These two sanctuary edifices are arranged on the high bank of the Karatoya, when a lot bigger waterway, they were in this way presented to yearly immersion and scouring. As a precautionary measure against the stream's activity, a progression of intricate parallel revetment dividers and cross-dividers were raised at various levels, including a 150 long semi-roundabout stall. Nonetheless, this divider was totally cleared away by the incredible surge of 1922 AD.
The profound burrowing uncovered other than these progressive time of building and modifying, an assortment of punch checked coins and Northern Black Polished Ware (NBPW) of the Maurya time frame, about six Sunga earthenware plaques (second first century BC), a cut blue schist circle molded latrine plate (first second century AD), a dirt seal and an earthenware Budhisattva head (fourth century AD), three huge earthen tanks (sixth seventh century AD) related with lime-shells and a human skeleton. Different relics found were catches, eardrops, pendants and nose-studs, dolls and toys of different materials and shape, going from earthenware to a few assortments of semi-valuable stones.
