Your explanation of the armbar was excellent, if I could add on I would say legs apart on the armbar should improve with level of experience with the submission. I’d like to see levels of ability with the submission, with the higher the level the faster the submission would apply. The only way to slow down the speed is to have comparable defense. This way you could look at the animation and tell if you have the sub. Also player should have the ability to give up on a submission attempt promptly if the player needs to.
