It is okay to pause and reflect on the verses and ask questions, the Quran is supposed to be understood. Not just to be listened to. Also you can stop wherever you want so as long as the idea that the verses trying to convey is complete. May the all-knowing guide you and us and increase our knowledge, and may he teach us that which is best for us. He is over all things capable.
As a Muslim I actually appreciate you stopping and trying to understand the verse instead of just listening for the sake of listening, much respect sister.
"Alif, Laam, Meem" are Arabic alphabets, which are equivalent to A, L, M in the English alphabet. Their meaning when combined and written as a verse of the Qur'an is known only to Allah (SWT)

It is one of the miracles of the quran and also proved that it was not written by man but from Allah himself.
From what I was taught Alif laam meem is something that cannot be translated. Those words are with god and only Allah knows it’s meaning, this Surah is the longest for good reason and one of the most important in the Quran.

Alif lam meem is three letters in arabic, you can compare them to the Alphabet as following : Alif : A ; Lam : L ; Meem : M , the way that they were putted here is still a mystery , Only Allah knows :)

Alif, Lam, Meem. These are letters from the arabic alphabet. You will find them mentioned at the beginning of so many chapters in the quran and usually a word refers to the quran (quran, book, revelation) in the following verse..
It is a challenge from Allah to the Arab who claimed that the prophet Muhammad invented the quran. So the quran says these are the letters of this language produce something like this..
It is similar to go to a carpenter and tell him these are the nails, wood and hammer make a closet like the one I made..

There are also discoveries in the Quran from 1400 years ago that is only discovered now recently
Alif-Lam-Meem (only Allah knows it meaning), no one knows it meaning, there are some verses of the Quran that no one know it meaning, like Alif-Lam-meen, Qa-Si-meem, Qaaf, Yaseen, Hameem, Alif-Lam-Ra and so on .
But some of the scholars of Quran exegesis (Tafseer) they said in their views Alif- start with Letter A so it means Allah, Laa means Lauhil Mahfuz (the board that Quran has written in the heaven), Meem start with letter M which means Muhammad (Prophet).
Alif for Allah
Laam for Lauhil Mahfuz
Meem for Muhammad
Which means the Quran is from Allah---written in Lauhil Mahfuz---And Revealed to Prophet Muhammad (P.B.U.H).

In the Quran you see a lot of those random arabic letters. Like Alif Lam Mim. Those are basically a challenge from Allah. So the Quran was sent down to the people of Arabia at the time were the Arabians were the most eloquent, they were amazing at poetry and linguistically very strong. They were very proud of their language. So the Quran is like saying that this linguistically miraculous Quran is a miracle. An example is: ‘A B C. Those are the simple letters you use right? Okay check this out *writes a miracle with those simple letters* now try to do the same’ or if I give you a meal, that is so insanely delicious. So you ask me what are the ingredients. And I say ‘Flower, water and salt’ to show that I used simple ingredients, to make something amazing. I hope u understand ❤
Benefits of Surah Baqarah
There are many benefits of Surah Baqarah some of them are mentioned below:
In the house where Surah Baqarah is recited Shaytan will not enter. Abu Hurayrah (RA) said that the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said: “Do not turn your houses into graves. Verily, Shaytan does not enter the house where Surah Al-Baqarah is recited” (Tirmidhi)
Surah al Baqarah helps to protect the person who recites it against the evil eye, witchcraft, evil whispers, and it also brings immense barakah into one’s time and overall peace in life.
Surah Baqarah brings greater reward on The Day of Judgment and adds blessings in this worldly life. In hadith Prophet Muhammad (SAW) said: “Recite the Quran, for on the Day of Resurrection it will come as an intercessor for those who recite It. Recite the two bright ones, al-Baqarah, and Surah Al ‘Imran, for on the Day of Resurrection they will come as two clouds or two shades, or two flocks of birds in ranks, pleading for those who recite them. Recite Surah al-Baqarah, to take recourse to it is a blessing and to give it up is a cause of grief, and the magicians cannot confront it.” (Muslim)
The last verses of Surah al-Baqarah are one of the most memorized verses of Quran among Muslims and it is for a good reason. In hadith Prophet Muhammad (SAW) said: “Whoever recites the last two verses of Surah al-Baqarah by night that will suffice him” (Bukhari)
Holy Prophet Muhammad (SAW) said: “Indeed Allah wrote in a book two thousand years before He created the heavens and the earth, and He sent down two Ayahs (verses) from it to end Surah al Baqarah with. If they are recited for three nights in a home, no Shaitan (devil) shall come near it.” (Tirmidhi)
In conclusion, we should try to recite the Quran in order to get a proper understanding so that we can act upon its wisdom by memorizing it. May Allah enable us all to bring His verses into our hearts and make them a means of illuminating our hearts, our lives, and our graves! Ameen

At the time of Qur'an revealed the Arabs who are forgot the creator and worship the idols and they are so pride with their language the best poets gets reward so Allah mokering the Arabs likes ,are you pride with this letters. "Alif Lam Meem" is the name of 3 letter in Arabic.. some of the Al-Qur'an surah start with this kind of opening (letters). Usually translated in the book with added comment "only Allah know the meaning".
23:14 "Iblees" (iblis) is translated ini English as Devil/Satan. It has same root word (in my opinion) because of the similiarity of the consonant and the pronounciation
Eeblees / iblis -> "ibl"
evil -> "ivl"
This surah covers all three parts.
Believers, none believers and and those munafiqiin they say we believe but Allah clears to his prophet that they only saying we believe

The beginning letters are called Muqatta’at. I love Muhammad Asad’s translation of the Quran and his explanation of it in the Message of the Quran. Basically emphasizes the concept of mystery when it comes to the divine.
This whole Quran reading is much better with Muhammad Asad’s annotations and footnotes. Please check his translation out, it blew my mind
The Name Bagarah means Cow. Every Surah has a Name cox it's easy to identity. This surah name Bagarah given because Allah commands to Prophet Moses to inform his people to slaugh a cow just as a worship. May Allah continue to guide sister. It is beautiful how you attentively listen. This is the word and message of God to mankind and we all should listen and believe.
some chapters of the quran starts with arabic letters. which is one of the miracle of it because arab poet could infuse letters to poetic verses during the prophet time, still make sense of their poem. Yet quran makes it so natural as if those letters belong in their rightful place there. No one knows the hidden mysteries of those letters.
English equivalent would be like a, f, g. roses are red. violets are blue...
the random english just add much to the poem itself. yet in quran the letters have spiritual significance to the chapter.
Alif Lam Meem has a meaning we don't understand only the lord. It's there to show the mystery of God, somthing we will never understand.

Alif laam meem are arabic alphabets and it does have a meaning. The people who our beloved prophet Muhammad ﷺ was sent to used to act as if they didnt understand the arabic that he recited the quran to them with but Allah used those letters at the start some chapters of the quran to show the people that this quran is in a language which you understand . The example i would use is like me reading a poem to you but then you acting as though you dont understand what im saying and you act as though i am speaking jiberish but when i say A B C and so and so then its like making clear that the poem im reciting is in a language that you understand and speak.

This surah if you're playing it or reciting it in your house, it chase away all evils jinn within. And it is hardly for to make a bad dream.
alef lam mim Arabic letters indicating the linguistic miraculousness of the Holy Qur’an, as this heavenly book in the language did not precede any poet, knowing that people at that time were eloquent and had a high critical sense. Secretly and listen to Muslims reciting it so that they can enjoy the beauty of his language. Even Al-Waleed Ibn Al-Mughirah, who was an infidel, was mentioned in the Qur’an that he would be subjected to a severe torment. He said about the Qur’an that it is the best he has ever heard.

Every verse has a context that's why it got revealed in parts not at the same time.
For the context you go to the sunnah aka hadithe meaning /saying action and approval of the prophet muhammed saw.
no one know what alif lam mim is except Allah... Allah want to tell us that when u want to learn(tadabbur) the quran, be humble to Allah and say that we as human have no knowledge expect Allah...
I suggest that u watch the signs of qiyamah/ last day according islam
