I saw VH on ghe VH3 tour with Cherone at the House of Blues in Myrtle Beach. Cherone was able to sing Roth's as well as Hagar's songs quite well. His songs were great live too. They opened with Unchained & the place went nuts. He is a very versatile singer. Not their greatest album but was awesome live
It's worth the one listen imo, there's a few decent tracks and the guitar playing is mostly awesome, look at it like an eddie solo album and it's easier to appreciate

Thanx for suffering through the ‘bad music’ for is Dr. Fukk. Me being an Eddie Van Halen does find some value in quite a few of these songs. Some extra notes about Eddie having to much control in regards to this album. This was the first album that saw Eddie perform lead vocals which he did on Once & How Many Say I. Eddie really was trying to make a great album & it appears that it’s lack of success broke him. Not to mention, I’m sure the biggest part, his marriage to Valerie B falling apart. He supposedly hit the bottle really hard. To those who thought Eddie dogged it on stage during those first Roth shows should see how rough Eddie’s playing was on the Best of Both Worlds tour he did with Hagar right before those first reunion shows with Roth.
@@robertsparling917 I was going to say you're wrong, Leppard is closing, but I double checked and they changed it. Van Halen III is worse, the songs on Adrenalize while bad are at least catchy. Tear It Down at least is a decent song (although the version recorded during the Hysteria sessions was better)
Van Halen 3 is the only Van Halen album I don't have. I won't be buying either. Loved the original Tear It Down and I liked White Lightening. So basically I liked two songs off those two albums.
Adrenalize doesn’t suck IMO but that Van Halen record is trash. Nirvana is one of the best bands of all time also my opinion since I enjoy punk rock and they have that sound.

Maybe they shouldn't have called it Van Halen but fuck it,I like the album. "Fire in the hole" is a great tune and Cherone did a great job live, especially with "Mean Street."
I do like Cherone's album a tiny bit better than any of the Hagar crap but none of it comes within a lightyear of any song on the first 6 albums. Eddie's genius must have needed Dave's input or the constant aggravation from clashing with him to get the juices flowing and get the songs rockin'. Everything after just sounds like dish water looks. I am no fan of Def Leppard especially this abomination so won't try and compare.
Great review, especially 'From Afart' lol. But Cherone doesn't sound like Hagar. (Listen to them back to back) and I don't hear any similarities between Josephina and More than Words, except that they're both mellow? I don't completely hate vh3, but the song that Edward sings does make me cringe. I think the album could have used much better production, and I actually think Edward put too many guitar overdubs on. For instance, one I want and without you we're much better live than on the album. Regardless, even with better production This Album never would satisfy a DLR era only Van Halen fan.
