verdammt harter Stoff, vom absolut allerfeinsten. Schon gut wenn man da einen richtigen Jazz-Spürhund n eben sich weiß. Unser gemeinsamer Favorit am heutigen Abend die Bläserfraktion ab 30:00 min. Wünsche noch einen schönen Abend liebe Freunde.
This is jazz at it's best! Hard swingin, inventive, creative. Thank you for this entry. You tube is nothing short of fantastic. I was born in 1943 in a small town in middle Illinois and there was no jazz to be heard except on some nights when the stars were properly aligned and I could get Harry Abraham from Rochester and that was a great treat some this stuff on You Tube is so incredible welcome in my life that words can't find a way to express the meaning that has for me. So Thank you and God Bless.
how good is this?!!!! Even if you don’t like jazz, just watch and admire this group of musical greats. Great footage from the days of VHS tapes but better for it’!!! Love this and thanks for uploading!
steve gadd is the kind of player that opens up to the music.i think he kicks alot of ass when he solos, but it´s all about phrases and feel.just think about the amount of people he played for.he must be doing something right.
I remember husband. Performing with lew soloff and Eddie gomez at the blue note my husan# a professional drummer they tore the roof off with kenny Garrett andboobbywatson
These men are geniuses on their instruments, and as progressivism goes they reflect today’s progressive movement, a confusing group of ideas that have a small element of sensibility every once in a while witch is harmonic, but ends up beautiful in it’s strange way but vacant of hope and mostly depressing .
Dude is cut! I love the counting in of the band to him lighting his cigarette around 43:50, and check out the slow pan of the camera to after it sounds like he falls down stairs retrieving a dropped stick at 51:30....even the cameraman was like "what's happening over there....."
That Gadd is known for his groove and solos . He invented a whole new approach to drumming he has inspired all musicians not just drummers . Maybe you need to listen more

George Young, the most underestimated Saxophone player in the world ...

You got that right. I don't think there is anything that he doesn't play well.
True!!!
Amen, brother! His ideas, facility, and articulation are incredible!
Great Icons of Jazz all of them!!!
Eddie Gomez el para mí más grande contrabajista que a dado el Jazz!!! El quinteto, maravilloso, la base rítmica descomunal!!!

Gadd and Gomez are worlwide recognised, Young, Soloff and Murray too but they deserves a lot more of it, in my opinion

Steve Gadd listens!!
Superb
Calling all Gadd freaks - does anyone know what ride cymbal Steve was using during this gig?
@MrSteviedan i'm curious as well, but it sounds like a precursor the 18"Session Ride. Hi pitch attack but low timbre, kind of . . . .
@@jazzhole8208 Thanks. Just love this cymbal. Sounds like he used it on the Eddie Gomez album 'Discovery' too
I once asked Gadd when he came to Osaka, Japan. That was 1994 and he used the same ride cymbal. He told me that ride cymbal was ‘Hammered Earth Ride’.
@@天倉正裕 Hey, thanks for the info. My favourite ever ride sound - gonna seek one out!
34:45 I like it so much
Gadd Top
I'm fool enough to find out new Jazzy vocabulary in this performance.
😃🌱💛🌷

Is David Matthews the conductor and string arranger?

Eddie Gomez...the whole band would sound middle of the road and lame without him
These men are geniuses on their instruments, and as progressivism goes they reflect today’s progressive movement, a confusing group of ideas that have a small element of sensibility every once in a while witch is harmonic, but ends up beautiful in it’s strange way but vacant of hope and mostly depressing .
Gadd is maybe the best drummer when it comes to pure groove. But his soloing abilities are just not there.

D Gee you are saying the same i'm saying with other words.
what a stupid comment
Neil Williamson what would be a brillant comment then God?
