I think a good 5 to 6 sprays should do the trick. I usually go 1 behind each ear, 1 each on the side of the neck and then one either on the base of the neck or the chest area.
Five sprays: Back of neck, front left and front right of neck, left inner arm at elbow, right inner wrist (pulse points). Some fragrances are too strong, they get only two or three sprays. Of course, I also shower and apply non-scented lotion before applying scents.
Five sprays can't be a rule because some fragrances are higher in oil content and 2 sprays contains more fragrance than 6 sprays of an EDT. Extrait de Parfums are almost always 2-3 sprays maximum after which you are suffocating everyone around you. On the other hand something like Diors Eau Sauvage, I can spray up to 8 times in a day from respraying when it begins to fade after 4 hours or so. Pulse points are a myth. Those areas are not warmer than the rest of your skin and don't make fragrances push more. They are still good places to spray. I like to spray my neck and wrists, but it doesn't increase projection.
If that were my case, and it isn't, but if it were... then I'd spray on the outside of my clothes and let it dry a bit before wearing. I'd then also pay attention to any discoloration the fragrance can cause. I don't think I have many with a color in them, but I wouldn't want them to ruin my clothes. I'm not sure that would work for people with allergies. I'd also recommend to stick to European houses, because the EU has much higher quality standards on products than (especially) the US, and for a large part those standards are about keeping allergens out of products. Especially the last ten years. Good luck.

Cool tutorial but ya got ta step it up and rock the Russian Adam guide to applying perfume if you really want to smell supreme. You have to be extremely wealthy to use his method I must say though as he does a paste base layer about 1 ml of concentrated oil and 70-90 sprays of his 5-700$ high end Areej la dore. The video is on TH-cam and it’s absolutely incredible (Russian Adam How to apply perfume )

I use body unscented oil in the shower then apply lotion next i spray my chest arms and hands and rub in like lotion I only apply to my under shirts
