ok but brennan saying “oscar you wanna call odds or evens?” made my heart skip bc it felt like ruehob but it was the real people talking to each other and it yanked me the fuck out really quick and realize the absolute intentionality but also joy in which these two people were weaving this romance. i scream
Him eating the card is a funny moment but I love that it also acts as a statement that he plans to dance with no one else that night. Great coming together of wacky goblin shit and a serious RP moment.
Brennan is a genius the way he weaves all of those actions heavy with meaning... He knows what he is doing more than anyone else. Incredibly intelligent play.
Rue and Hob are amazing, and have my whole heart, but I gotta say, I also GREATLY adore Andhera and BINX just being two ridiculously awkward ace teens in love. Lmao
Alright Yes Hob eating the dance card was comedically timed and comedically delivered but it also actually invented romance, And Here’s Why: It’s not just about the fact that now nobody else can sign Hob’s card, though that’s half of it. The other half is the blatant show of *desire* there. I’m thinking particularly of the internet’s tendency to say “I’m eating this” in regards to something we like, be it a character, a concept, a trope, or a specific moment. The idea there, of liking something so much, of wanting something so much that it becomes a hunger, is what I’m getting at. Of Hob, looking Rue dead in the eyes as he slowly, deliberately, folds up the dance card they JUST handed back to him and eats it. It’s giving HUGE “I want you” vibes AND sends the message of “I will not be dancing with anyone else tonight” without saying a damn thing. AND they invented romance.

Also… ok, I feel like I shouldn’t be squealing and kicking my feet over what, in character, could be read as basically Hob *trying to protect Rue because he’s having a PTSD trigger*… but the fact that it was Rue he tried to protect from the triggering noise and not himself just has me wibbling.

There is something so great and being in a campaign and watching two other players get so consumed in a scene that you get overwhelmed by how good it is
i just cant get over how everyone who was "important" to hob's job as a guard of the goblins was there and yet when he felt danger he rushed to rue????? it kills me it destroys me, he has chosen rue from the beginning they were always more important to him than any job *sobs*
