Such a wonderful playing. Bring memories of my youth. I learned to play this concerto, so many years ago.. I no longer play, so there are talents such as yourself, to listen to... Good luck in the continuation of your musical way.
oh.. my..god... THAT'S what my teacher gave me?? Oh man.. I'll giv eit a go, hope I don't kill it. That was positively amazing Matthew.. you are my new hero.
I'm playing this for my solo in February. I'm a little nervous, considering I'm a Sophomore in high school. The more people I listen to, I get a little more nervous. But, I think I may be able to pull it off. Thank you for this wonderful video to refer to. You tone is envious and I love how expressive you are. Again, thank you very much for this amazing video, an aspiring musician.
I took this to Texas state Solo and Ensemble as a freshman. Got a 2, and was disappointing. I was super sick and got no sleep the night before. But it was fun and this is a great piece.
Not gonna lie, I wanted to play this piece ever since I heard it my sophomore year of high school on Skins. I practiced and practiced, but it was just too hard for me. Three years later, I still like to take it out of my old music folder and give it a go. I have so much admiration for you. Not only can you play this piece FLAWLESSLY, but memorized!
+Makenzie Milligan I'm learning it too. Some tips are don't try to be this guy, practice the slow parts faster than youve been told, and take the fast parts slower.
+Solution For Your Problems That's how I've been practicing but the conductor is making me play it EXACTLY like this. It's actually kind of frustrating.
+Makenzie Milligan My private instructor wants me to learn the first page Andante really slow, but that doesn't help. Go AT MOST 20 beats under for that, But in the Allegro runs I reccomend ~152 BPM=One Eighth note.
+Justin Phillips Please justify your assessment of his tone as sub par. I'm not saying you're wrong, or at the very least entitled to your opinion, but what is your reason for saying so? Thanks!
Congratulations on your success at Yale Matthew. Hope you got the professional playing position with a fine orchestra (per your interview in the Yale News). I know 3 years have passed since that time. Best wishes for a bright future. Hope you will listen to my friend Gervase de Peyer. He is a world famous clarinetist from London and has many albums and You Tube videos as does my friend Dr. Stephen Clark who also has quite a number of videos; solos, ensembles, and WW Quintets with Austin Peay. Stephen has a You Tube channel and does great work. Keep up the great work!
I think that weber's work is amazing, This one has subtlety in all its phrases, especially the first that should get more piano and felt like something coming out of the depths and find light, all designed in a large crescendo since the early piano. Good work, these are just a few tips to make your performance better. Good technique. CONGRATULATIONS :)
There are some problems with the tuning and the accents. But in general, great audition. I apolagise for any grammar error. I'm Now learning this concertino.
I have to play this as an audition in May and haven't started practicing yet. Not to mention the fact that I'm only a freshman in highschool, so I'm very scared. Also, I have to audition on this in the fall for another honors band. Any tips?
Your videos are great and I would like to repost your channel exactly on a nice platform named Gan Jing World. If this sounds interesting to you, please respond to me. Many thanks!
@kittyswillcolor Don't be scared yet! Start practicing it every day, very slowly at first. Listen to the best recordings you can find, and take it to your private lessons. But practicing is the most important part. Good luck!
@kittyswillcolor practice slow with control. on those runs that u have to tongue, the tendency is to tongue fast and crazy and strain your tongue. remember u will tongue faster than u really think and do practice slowly or with control and relax. so start practicing.
+Justin Phillips What she is saying is do not critique or criticize other players playing when you can not play the piece yourself. The fact that he can play Webers concertino is an accomplishment on its own, the piece isn't easy, especially for students. Which solo de concour are you playing? Messager or Rabaud? How about when your finished working on the piece you can upload your performance? I know I would be delighted to hear a true prodigy, maybe Anthony McGill would recognize your amazing abilities! Full ride to MSM or Juilliard. I wish you luck and maturity in your musical life :)

This was my senior solo and college audition piece back in 79. Very nicely done....Kudos!

I was at the concert where you did this with my school. You were AMAZING
Wow. Can I just say how flippin amazing you are?! I am a freshman and my band director is making me play this. Any tips?
+Makenzie Milligan I'm learning it too. Some tips are don't try to be this guy, practice the slow parts faster than youve been told, and take the fast parts slower.

+Solution For Your Problems That sounds like a pretty good idea actually.
Bruh legit same. Ik this is from a year ago, but I'm a freshman and this is the audition piece for getting into Symphonic band and I'm dying
your tone is amazing! im in middle school and im doing this for a contest. :) it's very exciting!
+Justin Phillips why do you have to comment? his is amazing m8.
+Justin Phillips Please justify your assessment of his tone as sub par. I'm not saying you're wrong, or at the very least entitled to your opinion, but what is your reason for saying so? Thanks!
Do you feel that it's too shrill or something else?

Amazing piece for an instrument in it's infancy.
It's my district band solo too!!! It's my first year in district band, and I'm extremely nervous even though it's like 5 months away!
I'll be playing this for Solo next year, an hopefuly make it to State solo again like this year :D
WONDERFUL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Any tips for this song this is for a competition and the prize is playing for the President
Where can I see a copy online and buy a copy of this piece? I need it for school. JW Pepper doesn't have an option to see the music on this one.
This guy's awesome... and he looks like Pierre from War and Peace.
Matthew BRAAAAVOOOO ! ! !
Great job!!!
I'm a bit of a gear head....what was your setup? (Especially mouthpiece)

A fine job
Can I have the piano part to this if so please send me it via email or just post the link
@Michael Geng How I got to tongue faster was by practicing my scales over and over. I started off slow then gradually became really fast! :D
He's not wearing a tie though, he's wearing a bow! Phony!
@kittyswillcolor practice slow with control. on those runs that u have to tongue, the tendency is to tongue fast and crazy and strain your tongue. remember u will tongue faster than u really think and do practice slowly or with control and relax. so start practicing.
Can you give me advice on how to tongue faster?
Which clarinet was used to play this?
Which brand and which model?
The clarinet is a Buffet Vintage. The mouthpiece is a Vandoren B40 Profile 88.
+ClarinetTieGuy why does he have a clarinet like that when he sucks
+Justin Phillips Please post a video of you playing the entire Weber that's better than this :)
I'll wait, don't worry!
Aemort what does that have to do with him sucking? im playing Solo de Concours right now so.... yeah. Weber can wait

@kittyswillcolor I'm a eighth grader who will play it in ninth grade, so your not the only person with a hard job, luckily of course I have a year.
Das steht aber nicht in den noten die ich habe. Sie sollten besser schreiben: frei nach Weber!
Sg
you went flat I think at the end..... and at the beginning on those Fs.... Other than that.. really good. I like your tongueing.
.
when you were playing forte the notes were almost at a blaring level, but other than that nice job!
SKINS!
Sigh.... If only you people commenting were at all musically talented.
Suono misero , il resto poco niente
This is like Stanley Drucker, except for the skill level.
