Diabetes mellitus is generally linked disease characterized by increased blood glucose concentration also termed as hyperglycemia. The other serious complication of uncontrolled diabetes includes kidney damage (nephropathy) eye damage (retinopathy) nerve disease (neuropathy) circulatory disease (atherosclerosis).
By this method human insulin was produced it was in July 1980 17 human volunteers were for the first time administered recombinant insulin for the treatment of diabetes at Guy's hospital London.
