Marine Commando Fighting Russians on the Frontline: Richard Sharp

  • The situation in Ukraine is something that we’re all painfully aware of, but how much do we really understand about the reality on the ground?
My mate Richard Sharp has spent the last 7 months in the warzone, and has first hand experience of the horrors and devastation caused by the russian invaders.
Whilst people were fleeing the country, Sharpie jumped in his van and drove toward the front line. As a former Royal Marine Commando, he shares his views on the conflict, thoughts on where the war is heading, and how he thinks it can all end.
He’s seen how the war has slipped out of the main headlines and wants to wake us all up to what’s happening out there.

Hello there. First time on this channel, I wanted to take the time to express some gratitude for this video and the exposure it’s given to the general population about the ongoing conflict in Ukraine. Sharpie is one of the most phenomenal men I’ve come across! he’s so articulate, professional, strong & clear minded, daring and the exact role model I needed to come across. I’m in the early stages of my application for the Royal Marines, hearing this man’s journey and the continuation of is inspiring to me as well as necessary. Sharpie by name and razor sharp in his ways it seems, he’s quite obviously a zero bullshit man. I truly wish I could of packed my kit and rode in that truck with him to Ukraine. What a F****** Warrior.
Thank you once again. I hope we see Sharpie in the future, safe, successful and making a solid impact in the world.
    Peace.

One thing he's forgetting about the annexation of the 4 regions: now that they are legally Russia (as per Russia) they can now use conscripts for the fight in those territories. Before that they could legally only use contractors and mercenaries.

As a British soldier for 17 years during the tail end of the cold war, I and my mates had no fears about the Russian Army. We KNEW we were better. The problem was.. there was so bloody many of them! AND they had Poles, Czechs and Germans between them and us, and we had more respect for those buggers! Even then though the vast numbers didn't have us quaking in our boots.
This century though!..as Richard Sharp said, we overestimated them. I for one thought that the Russians would have taken full advantage of the Opening of western technology to them.... they didn't, not fully! But their main downfall is they never changed their mindset! Lazy, corrupt inefficient muppets! From Private, to Major to General to Putin..

What really gets me is that some ppl. are now saying why does Ukraine not just let Russia have the areas /land it’s just a small part of Ukriane anyway.....
A small part of Ukraine ...WE ARE taking about a land mass over 200,000 sq km
In EU terms thats the size of Belgium, Holland, and Greece all put together..
In UK terms that the size of all of Scotland , Wales and most of England
In US terms is the size of South Carolina, West Virginia and New Jersey all put together !!
Why the should Ukraine give up all that land for what to be invaded only some years later !!
I SAY RUSSIA GETS TO TAKE LAND AND DEMAND UKRAINE CAN NOT JOIN NATO IS NOT ACCEPTABLE AT ALL !! Nobody wants to be a "buffer country". NO nation wants to have a little bit of freedom and self-determination, like some sort of 2nd class country
The whole concept is demeaning to an independent nation. NO nation wants to have a little bit of freedom and self-determination, like some sort of 2nd class country; That is not right, and Russia has no right to demand or bully Ukrainians or Ukraine to accept to be some sort of lap dog on a leash 2nd class country to serve kremlins geopolitical agenda and so Kremlin, Putin and RuZZans can feel better about themselves ...
Eastern European countries (ex soviet countries like Poland the baltic states ect ect ..) joined NATO because they are scared of Russia and want to be and stay independent. Nobody forced them to join NATO they was the ones running and knocking and begging to be able to join NATO and the EU ,,, .
When Russia invaded Ukriane Russia then just showed why it was a good idea for those countries to join NATO, because if they didn't they might just have got invaded as well just like Ukraine and Georgia did .
During Soviet times those Eastern European countries where nothing less than Russia puppet states. If they didn't join NATO after the fall of the USSR then they for sure couldn't guarantee their own independence from Russia.
Nato did nothing wrong, the only mistake was Ukraine not joining NATO to ensure Ukraines independence; Remember former satellite states like Poland, Romania, Czech Republic and The Baltic states, Slovakia ect ect all came running by their own accord, knocking, kicking, screaming and banging at the front door of EU and NATO begging to come in, no one forced them into it .
If Russia was not such a asshole country and stoped constantly bulling neighboring countries maybe other neighboring countries will not need to join NATO and by more open and welcoming to Russia ..
Also these people who advocate this view that Ukriane shroud just give up land and appeasement to Russians wants wishes are also being very ignorant to the fact that there were already treaties in place between Russia and Ukraine where Russia respecting the integrity of Ukraine's borders plus other treaties relating to the seas around Ukraine.
Putin has already broken those treaties.
Why would Ukraine believe Putin would stick to a new treaty when he's just broken half a dozen of the previous Russia Ukraine treaties and agreements.
Russia has demonstrated its treaties and agreements are worthless and you enter them at your great peril.

Great interview Dodge, just like to add the US already had the majority of equipment in Europe for years, I worked as a military contractor for the US DoD back in 2019 and they did numerous rapid deployment exercises in neighbouring Russian countries to see how quickly they could deploy thousands of pieces of equipment and troops as quickly a possible to Europe… all the equipment came from pre positioned stock around Europe.

Thing is, the quality of the equipment Ukraine has and training they are receiving by NATO is unparalleled in terms of scope and size. If Russia didn't have a threat on it's doorstep before it does now

Speaking Russian doesn't make you Russian anymore than speaking english makes you English. One of the main reasons for the widespread use of Russian in Ukraine is the suppression of Ukrainian by the Soviets/Russians. Crimea isn't really Russian either. The Soviets shifted other ethnicities out and shifted Russians in. From 2014 they have been deporting the indigenous Tatars to Russia.
Putin is not really trying to recreate the Soviet Union, he is more interested in recreating the Russian Empire. He is a Tsar in his own deluded mind.

How about inviting someone on your podcast to get the other perspective, George Galloway springs to mind. It's only fair and then we can draw our own conclusion because this guys source could be one sided. Also Putin is aware if he enters any NATO countries he would be obliterated, so take that theory off the table.

To put things in perspective, Ukraine had 176 ICBMs and over 2000 tactical nukes along with bombers able to carry them.
They gave it all up in exchange for security guarantees from USA, UK and Russia ( Budapest Memorandum 1994 ).
One would say that assisting Ukraine now when its being invaded should be obvious thing to do when you signed up on their security and they gave up literally thousands nukes...
