"Carmilla" and "Mircalla Karnstein" give you a tip that the screenplay took inspiration from the 19th century story by J. Sheridan Le Fanu, which was published a few years before Bram Stoker's Dracula in "In A Glass Darkly", which is misquoted from 1 Corinthians 13:12 . Its intended new meaning by JSLF, was that people see things the way that is the darkest way, which keeps them from Salvation. Le Fanu's "Carmilla" has been associated with the traditional folk tale "Tam LIn" by screenplay writers of the past - Carmilla is a letter jumble of Mircalla. In the original, she IS THE SAME character.
And millarca was another alias in the story.

What the mini essay says is nothing. I kind of like a screenplay that doesn't have a Greek muse tell you everything about the little glimps left in the characters that you can remember from similar stories and can look up from other sources on the same subject to further your own private speculations over an otherwise absorbifying movie. An added entertainment factor; probably doesn't belong in comments.
This is a vampire movie, Carmilla is half vampire, half human. But she didn’t harm Laura.

This was not a horror movie, it was a twisted suspense thriller with a wacky ending.

This film has been trashed on Rotten Tomatoes but it's excellent, you can tell it's small budget etc but it's well worth a watch and is emotionally compelling if you have a concentration span greater than a household cat. Magic.

Not fair! This is not a horror movie! It’s a depressing drama. Not sure who was doing what to who, but nobody was having fun, and it didn’t improve 😢 just made me never want to go live in the woods . Maybe I am not as nature loving as I thought.

This movie is NOT a fantasy but, it can happen in real life. Working in a NYC Hospital in the 90’s I came across a woman that was shot 5 times in the back by the husband of a female while they were having intimate relationship. We had no idea until the “trachea” was removed. She was very proud of what she had done,....broke up a marriage 🤷🏼♀️🤷🏼♀️🤷🏼♀️, this is not a horror movie but it is imho a suspense and somewhat thriller

A great movie i love someone who respect you for who ore what you are
I was interested in discovering the mystery of Camilia's mom. There were questions I felt were left unanswered like who was the guy from the car accident, why did her mom leave her, and did the mom really die from cancer. I liked the story and acting but wish some of the storyline had been flushed out. Also, the film kind of skipped around at the end during the bedroom scene which made it hard to decipher all of what happened.
Yeah, it looked like there were some shots missing during the ending. I agree that the movie didn't really explain much of the story at all.

My guess is she was feeding on him and they were on their way to turn his dad into a vampire. I was confused as to wether the mom died and then she became a vampire or if she was just used for feeding then she died from cancer. Also if she was a real vampire did she feed on other ppl or animals. It took me a bit to figure out their vamps bc it is in no way clear other than the blood on her lips after feeding from the knife cut.
@@stehaniescott5797 Except that they aren't vamps. She only has only has blood on her mouth because the other girl cuts herself. I mean, they both are seen eating regular food. So, why do you jump to vamp? A vamp wouldn't die of cancer. A vamp wouldn't die from a slash across the throat. A vamp would have just ripped the arrows out and slapped the guy across the face.

He killed his wife cause he was jealous that she fell in love with a woman.and no longer wanted him. And used it as a diguise that he did it to protect the family. Maybe he did. But he was clearly jealous.
He should feel happy his wife likes girls.Two heads are better than one.
Look the story up on wikipedia. Hes not jealous but religious, he was protecting her from a vampire and a repeat story of his dead wife.
@@barbarapearce9738 If you'd watched you'd known it wasn't about vampires but about homosexuality and a jealous hubby killing the wife's lover and later her daughter starting something with his daughter. Might be he had religious motives but that doesn't become subject in the film. His wife later dies of cancer and his daughter makes a runner.

Father killed Carmilla mother cause of a zealous So Laura warn to Carnilla to leave the house and tell her he killed your mother and her if she don't leave but it's to late it's done Carmilla died So Laura call the police the happen of their house and she run to leave her home.I love very much this story and thanks the uploaded

I originally "disliked" the film since it wasn't horror and thus didn't do justice to Le Fanu's original. As i thought about it, though, I "liked" the film as an artistic exploration of "f-upped" relationships. Everyone's "love" relationship in this movie was twisted due to circumstances beyond their control. I liked the scene when the unfaithful wife admitted she was to blame. People liked this movie because of its exploration of a homosexual relationship - that's a pretty twisted interpretation! Breaking up a marriage with a child involved is NOT a positive thing, whether the extra-marital relationship is homosexual or heterosexual.

If you look closely at the 1:27:39 mark of the movie there is a person with a white cap on the left side reflection of what looks like a television you'll see him reach and put his hands at his collar wonder how many that watched didn't notice this.
