Not at all. There's a ton of shoegaze revival bands that have been doing this style for years and are way better IMO. Ringo Deathstarr, LSD and the Search for God, Vadaat Charigim, Cheetahs, No Joy, The Cherry Wave, Pinkshinyultrablast, Tamaryn, Wildhoney just to name a few.
