Collanades are still there. The old staduim is still there just the outside shell.im a die hard bear fan my whole life. The staduim inside is not that bad.You can see the game perfect off the sidlines of course. Then i sat vs green bay coming off the playoff loss to the eagles.Bears where 6 point favorites and im just knowing there gonna crash them for once.I think we boo mitch and nagy the whole game.We had the ball in green bay territory the whole game and we can only mustard up 3 points wtf is that.We loss 10-3 i was so pissed leaving out of thete.Im just knowing from that loss to the eagles on the double donk we where going to L.A. and smash them again then you never know the saints or the cowboys i believe. Then we beat l.a. we go back home either way cuz are record was better then the cowboys they where a good match up for the saints.Bears vs Cowboys nfc championship game.Man a bunch of what ifs.
It’s a shame what they did to that grand old (soon to be empty) stadium. They left the colonnades, but wiped the history away. It looks like an alien ship landed on top of it, but I’ve heard many call it, “The Toilet Bowl.” It’s okay inside, but it has no character or sense of history to it. Instead, it’s more like somebody dropped a football field into the middle of a shopping mall. I look forward to seeing the Arlington Heights stadium plans. I’m glad the Bears are leaving the City of Chicago…
Thanks for these ‘89 games. Vikings/Tampa/Packers home games from this season are hard to find, hopefully we see them too. Never thought I’d see the Steeler shut out again from this year but thanks to you we did.
I really appreciate all the classic games you've posted, but what I REALLY appreciate is that you've taken the time and effort to edit out those fucking commercials.
Beau, what do you make of the Bears slumping to 6-10 in 1989? I was a kid and as much as I loved the fact that Majik did his thing for us that year, I've never really come up with a solid explanation for why the Bears went into the toilet, and only for one season. I know Hampton went down early, but were there many injuries other than that? Neal Anderson was at the top of his game and the defense was still formidable.
Brad James - That purr/hum/chopping sound is the aircraft 🚁 over the NFL fields and other crowd noise during this era. You don’t hear that much anymore due to modern technology to filter out noise. That humming sound sure is nostalgic though for this era.
I also just wanna thank "Beau Bear" for putting these games up. Strange thing about this game is the Rams beat is when we had our best years ('86 & '88) yet couldn't beat us THIS crappy year? Damn! We'd of been 15-1 again in '86 if we'd beat them and 13-3 in '88!
Pat Summerall just gas the perfect Sunday afternoon voice. I mean, of course John madden is great too, but Summerall takes me back years ago to a cool autumn Sunday more even than Madden. Good times…
From 1989, if you can find the Vikings game from wk 2 would be a great one. Another game I'd rip eyes out to see is the Miami game in '88. We beat the hell outta them! I think it was the season opener and a little revenge for '85 when we played in Miami. My dad said that if we'd played Miami 10 times, they'd of won once that year. McMichael said that if they'd played those Dolphins at 12:00 noon on a Sunday they'd of killed them. Well......they did just that!
The Bears started the season 4-0. Bengals 17-14 *Vikings 38-7 Lions. 47-24 Eagles. 27-13 Then Dan Hampton went down with his 10th knee surgery and they won 2 more games all year. This game 20-10 and the Steelers whome they shut out. *I'd love to see the Vikings game. That was thier best game of the year.
WBBM's signal in those days was transmitted via satellite and offered to home C-band dish subscribers in a package known as PrimeTime 24. The downside: the station was prohibited from carrying CBS' second game of that day's doubleheader.

Harbaugh had a good season at Indy in '95. We came within one pass of making it to the SB that year instead of Pittsburgh. We called him "Captain Comeback."
Gimme one Harbaugh or Tomczak over 10 Mitch Trunksky’s or Jay Cutler’s. I too thought our QBs sucked back then but as they have gotten worse over the last 30 years, these guys are Hall of Famers compared to what we have now...
As a Lions fan, loved that old stadium look with the columns. All covered up now, but that was one of the coolest NFL stadiums around.

@@nurserock77 Totally agree, remember watching Walter Payton run all over the Lions in that stadium. A classic era we will never see again.
The people in chicago are unhappy with the quarterback situation, the story of my life as a bears fan

Thanks for these ‘89 games.

The Packer game at Soldier Field was more high scoring than you'd expect for a day that was absolutely frigid.
Thanks for publishing....I have the first 54 minutes in great quality, and now I have this to complete it....thanks ma man :)

Beau Bear is one of greatest fans Chicago has ever had!
Thank for the upload, I love the old Summerall Madden Games.

I watched this hoping that something bad would happen to the Bears so I can see Ditka go ballistic.
LOL where did DItka throw a fit and pull Tomszak?
1:36:48......Wow!

The downfall of Ditka’s tenure 1989. Six and ten.

I listened to this game on the radio...I was at work!!! Sure hope I can see it via TH-cam!!!!
Harbaugh was just a lousy qb.

Did Bugs Bunny let a fart at the end of the game?
