Thank you Dr.Khan and Prof. Stephen Dale for an interesting and illuminating, scholarly discussion. I believe I learned something about Ibn Khaldoun about whom I knew nothing before.

It was a amazing discussion and i am happy that there's a video on ibn khaldun on youtube that deals with his writings, ideas and thoughts other than his biographical videos.
7:00 you talked about what amazed prof about ibn khaldun ?? Here i would like to put my experience. In THE MUQADDIMAH at a place he talks about the poor and miserable being of JEWISH community that the JEWS have been kept in ghettos and are not allowed to mix with others, their poor economic and social standards have made them to get involved in theft and crimes. Well Sir 1200 years ago a MUSLIM SCHOLAR writing this about JEWS is peculiar at the same time mind blowing or bewitching because it is the JEWISH community that has been cursed by ALMIGHTY in the HOLY BOOK. And a muslim scholar of that era still finds that scope or creates that space that these people are poor and helpless not only because they are cursed both by MUSLIMS and CHRISTIANS but that they are kept poor and helpless.
The same thing that i sense as a muslim in india at this moment and i feel that ibn khaldun is a contemporary socialist for Indian muslins just change the word Jew to Muslim. Now the ruling class in India says every now and then that it is their faith and beliefs that have kept muslims so poor and marginalized and goes on to say that even modern education is of no help to them then by quoting JINNAH and all sort of personalities and asking were they not educated????

You at the end of the video discussed about KNWOLEDGE as per IBN KHALDUN. I have yet again a contemporary experience of myself to what ibn kahldun had said for seeking knowledge and what knowledge is.
He says "As long as such a habit has not been obtained , skill in a particular discipline is not forthcoming". And in the biography of WARREN BUFFET THE SNAWBALL Warren Buffet and his friend Charlie Munger is defined as "creature of habits". And if you listen to Warren Buffet he says in his speeches that he reads every day for 7 hours and reads every news paper and even his portfolios and stocks and is a life long learning machine.
Second comes experiment based learning which in 21st century has become a new normal for any science students certain projects and assignments lab practical's today go unmentioned but IBN KHALDUN saying it then was a big thought as that era was more of mugging and memorizing which he himself mention
Thirdly he links intelligence with connection(connextion). And if we watch STEVE JOBS STANFORD COMMENCEMENT SPEECH he there says future can only be predicted looking backward and coins a term CONNECTING THE DOTS. He shares his interest in typography and the interest he showed then came to use when he built the computer.
And KHALDUN said it in his times which in itself shows the depth he had. And i think THE MUQADDIMAH not just for now but centuries to come would be relevant because it is getting more practical and used as the modern civilization grows.
