  • This is mouse pattern made for fishing in streams and rivers. The whole base of the fly is made out of foam to keep it afloat even in the strongest currents. The foam lip upfront and the articulated body creates a lifelike and irresistable swimming action. A real killer for trout but works great for pike, perch and bass in stillwater as well!

    Hi Andreas, This is an interesting fly design. I like that it has the movement from the rabbit fur. It would work well for some of our big browns in Lake Crescent, Tasmania, Australia. I have been watching a lot of TH-cam in the last two weeks as I have been off work with a medical issue, so watching a lot of Fly Dressing, Fly TV and Fish TV. The down side is that there is now a lot more fly tying materials that I need to buy😪. I relay like the techniques that you demonstrate and the instruction that goes with them. Tight Lines Craig

    I tied something like this in yellow to imitate a duckling. Great for pike! I love the simplicity of your tie!

    That’s a great fly. I will have to tie a few for Northern and Bass in northern Wisconsin.
    My dream is to head back to my Mor Mor’s home and fish for northern. she was from
    O Ronnas on the shore of
    Osterdalalven.

    I think that fly will work for bass and northern pike too. Going to tie some for those species but also for night fishing for trout.
    Great tutorial. Thanks.

    Nice pattern! Is the trailer hook necessary, or do you hook up the front hook more frequently?

    • @FlyDressing
      @FlyDressing  ปีที่แล้ว

      It works well to tie on two shanks instead of a shank and a trailer hook. Mostly depends on the speed of the retrieve and the targetted species.

    how durable is this fly? Will it stand up to Pike and Musky the way it is tied or would it be a good idea to add wire or mono rib for strength? Thank you.

    • @FlyDressing
      @FlyDressing  ปีที่แล้ว

      Using some ribbing to reenforce the fly (zonker especially) is not a bad idea, but I wouldn't say that it's necessary.

    What is your opinion on tying the whole zonker vs a dubbing loop with the fur only? It might be lighter that way?
