Vitto had the most melodic and tasteful solos I've ever heard. Just jaw dropping beautiful, and technically tight as hell. What a genius. Such an understanding of peicing together melodies and notes that melt together gorgeously...what an artist. Surprisingly, alot of geniuses sometime shy away from the spotlight...he deserves this recognition. The solo of "wait" is pure genius... The lady of the valley is phenomenal. Little fighter is awesome too. But I've never heard a more beautiful song than "When the children cry." Great list, thank you.
man what other music do y’all listen to bcuz this band is pretty forgettable. Vito was clearly talented but his solos were all tapping for the sake of tapping. I think theres a reason this band wasn’t a household name like Van Halen
White lion didnt hold him back. If anything white lion put him on the map. He even lost interest in playing so without white lion we maybe never would have heard of him as the Great that he was.He might have just faded out as a couchplayer as myself and never became anything.
They just came out at the wrong time, they are way better than those who preceded. Like just about all of them. Hard to be that good at the wrong time.
I met the whole band in 1989. The big game tour. Right before the show ..white lion. Meet & greet signing. Everyone was cool and nice. Vitto bratta was the last one to sign my big game cassette poster. He look up and smile man, enjoy the show........an amazing. Guitarist..viva vito bratta
Lady of the Valley... both solos fit the song perfectly. The second one (slow one) is so full of soul and emotion you can almost hear his guitar crying
There are technically better tappers out there But what makes vito's so great is the fluidity and smoothness and how clean they are, doesn't overdo anything Fuckin great phrasing too
Seriously, while the lead singer is good looking he's not really a good singer imo...proof that image was the most important thing in glam, especially in the later years hence grunge killing it with a more down-to-Earth attitude
@@TheGodYouWishYouKnew Agreed, he was very good at what he did and at what level and "poise", but Vito was just on another level, than the rest of the band. My opinon.
While he jams with the best of them, Vito's riffs just seem to have this ethereal, unearthly lightness to them, no matter how hard the melody. I love that. It's like walking on air, in combat boots.
One of the best Heavy Metal and Hard Rock guitarist ever.....so sad he is hardly mentioned and so underrated......a lot of people don't know what they are missing.
Just found this page. Ahh, Vito Bratta...... is without a doubt one of the best guitarists anyone will ever here. Pure Genius as was Hendrix and Van Halen. May you be blessed for sharing your talent with us.
Vito Bratta is probably the, idk if underrated is the right word, maybe the most forgotten about of that era. What I always loved, is you could see his progression as a guitarist. His early early stuff is more "flashy" meaning not necessarily played for the song but showing off. On Big Game it's as if everything was perfect for each song. From fills to solos there's nothing that doesn't fit the songs. Truly wish we hear more from this amazing guitarist!
My personal favorite ‘Little Fighter’ an innovative, melodic and memorable solo. Nobody talks about Vitto anymore, but during the 1980’s he was considered a great.
good guitar solos aren’t about how many notes you can play or how complicated it sounds or is. it’s about how tasteful the solo is. how it fits into the piece. and vito bratta checks all the boxes. he has chops, he can make a solo fit into a song and he can serve it all on a silver fucking platter. what an incredible musician. definitely one of the most underrated and under appreciated guitarists of the 80s. a decade full of amazing talent. he truly stands out and holds his own against the hoards of incredible guitar players of the 1980s bravo, vito.
My top 10: 1. Wait 2. Little Fighter 3. Don't Give Up 4. Going Home Tonight 5. Broken Heart 91 6. Love Don't Come Easy 7. Don't Say It's Over 8. Hungry 9. Warsong (the slow one) 10. Broken Heart '85
Dont know how to thank you for making video on vito bratta. The best guitarist who pay more attention on notes to make beautiful to hear along with technics
Vito was one of those guitarists where you wore the cassette tape a bit during every solo of every White Lion album. You just had to play the solo again! For me, it is "Little Fighter"!!! His best solo out of all the White Lion songs! These days, I can't play the song, on the CD, or on Spotify, or TH-cam, or anywhere, without playing the part where the solo is multiple times! It never gets old. One of my regrets in life was not getting a guitar and learning to play it! I could have gotten good enough to create a solo that would be world famous and part of rock n roll history! Vito kicked major ass! His solos of "Lady of the Valley" are insanely mesmerizing! They give me shivers, like pretty much all of his solos of the White Lion discography! I miss that guy! He pretty much gave up on really going to greater heights than his White Lion days!
Been working on the Little Fighter solo, to me its just one of the best solos of the decade. I cannot think of another one that has such interesting structure with solid melody
You know Vito solo vocabularies was big n wide, love that there's always a little EVH notes sprinkles in as well,, EVH solos like fallin downstairs landin on feet Vito solos are like slidin down n landin feet
If my mind is evil is just so good you have to listen to it like 20 times, then 20 more, then again and again. I could listen to it for hours and it doesn't get old. That's Genius.!!
Great video. Thanks from Turkey. My best solos are the 4th and the 5th ones among your picks. You forgot to mention his best solo, that is, his solo in "When the Children cry" is a sheer, simple beauty that fortifies the whole song's emotion. In the "big game" album (their best album), the solo of "Broken Home" is another ear-grabbing and catchy one.
What a great guitarist he was! Wish He Still Could've Played His Good Solos On The albums! He Was One Of My Favourite Guitarist Of Glam Metal In My Opinion With John Sykes And Harry K. Cody! 🤘
Thanks for keeping Vito in the discussion. White Lion songs have a strong poppy core to them, but the solos up there with anything anyone one else was doing at the time in terms of technical difficulty matched with a strong fidelity to melody. Though Little Fighter is not my favorite song, the solo is.
1 Wait 2 Little Fighter 3 If My Mind is Evil 4 Radar Love 5 Goin Home Tonite 6 Hungry 7 Tell Me 8 All You Need is Rock N Roll 9 Don't Say It's Over 10 Don't Give Up
He's very underated and briliant guitarist for sure, similar circle with EVH, Nuno and Paul Gilbert but each of them have their own style. Melodic, less complex but full of technique
Although Bratta has not released any music since 1992, many musicians, both singers and guitar players, have continued to praise his songwriting skills and technical ability. Zakk Wylde has stated that Bratta is the only guitarist whose tapped playing he enjoys. He has also praised Vito Bratta's originality and pointed out that he considers the solo in "Wait" one of the best solos he has ever heard. Bratta's partner in White Lion, Mike Tramp, also remarked that Bratta's skills as a guitar player and songwriter were unmatched:" Vito the guitar player and Vito the songwriter and musician, he was in a calibre all by himself. It shows in his great solos, and so many people love the way he played like Eddie Van Halen with the hammer-ons and all that stuff like the Van Halen solo on “Ain’t Talkin’ Bout Love.” I just love the way Vito played solos on “Wait” and “Little Fighter” and some of the others. He was like Mozart. Tramp also mentioned that many accomplished guitar players turned him down when he attempted to put together a new version of White Lion: We tried to do new White Lion with Warren DeMartini and Paul Gilbert and all these others, and no one wanted to do Vito. He was unlike anyone else, he had his own way of doing things, and plus he was a great songwriter. Had he remained in the business, Vito would have been bigger than Steve Vai and all those types of guys. With him the melody came before anything else, and that’s nothing but the highest praise. Guitar World Magazine named Bratta one of the best 20 guitarists of the 1980s. Producer Michael Wagener called Bratta his "favourite guitar player" on February 17, 2007, when he called the Eddie Trunk show-- Source: Wikipedia
Its good to see there are fans of Vito. He is at the top of the list to me of the best 80's rock guitar players. One thing, you used a live version of the "Wait" solo. The studio version is much better IMO and should have ranked higher. Also, I love "Radar Love" and wish it made the list. Great job!

I can't get over that Vitto isn't listed on Rolling Stone's 100 best guitarists. Vitto is truly underappreciated as a top tier guitarist
Those lists are useless. I wouldn't be surprised if it had Kurt Cobain or Phil Collen from Defleppard. Truly awful guitarists

One of the most flashy and gifted guitarists around. Very underrated
When I was learning to play (still am) and figured how to mimic the solo from "When The children Cry", I almost cried.

Thanks for sharing.
Lady Of The Valley is his best solo in my opinion, i miss that one, but great list
Yeah that’s a great one too, listed it as an honorable mention
Two great solos on this one!
