Wow my nephew was watching this video and heard a familiar tune. At first I thought he was watching Thomas The Tank Engine but the song sounded different. I instantly recognized it Henry's Flying Kipper theme. But when I saw it was LaZeRJET I couldn't help but smile at the fact he used a song my nephew is unfamiliar with. It reminded me of my childhood.
I'm glad you not only managed to ride behind Tornado but also saw Clun Castle under steam! I've only ridden behind one full-size steam loco in my life, and that was back in 2013. I've also only seen more than one active steam loco on the same day only once! I hope you and your family have a Merry Christmas and a happy 2020!
Hi Oliver, it was nice to meet you briefly on platform 10 at last. If I had known about the meetup before I would have come but I course I decided to get some footage of Tornado and Clun Castle for my own channel. Anyway hope you had a good time up in York and Merry Christmas.
That castle class was called clun castle it's based at tysley locomotive works in Birmingham the driver of the loco is called Ray Churchill while I'm at it the train she was pulling was the white rose I have seen her many times as I live in Birmingham she's a nice loco but anyway there's some info about the castle class you saw
I have to say, this was really well filmed & edited :) The music that accompanied the Tornado at speed shots was really well chosen and fit the shots well! I do feel like some of the narration was a tad overdramatic, but overall this was really well made!
Wish I could've been there. But with supersonic travel only a few years away from returning, it shouldn't be much longer before I can. (btw, are steamers now allowed to do 90 mph on the mainline after Tornado's run?) Glad it was great! You're really lucky to get to interact with such famous engines the way you do, and have such a following. There’s the same rail tour this year I think on the 21st December. But better! It’s going to be 60163 tornado from London kings cross and 6233 duchess of Sutherland on the way back. Seen as I live in Leeds I’m going to try and beg to my mum and dad all year so I can go on it.
That trip sounded fast and exciting the way main line excursion steam locomotives around the world like it. But, I wish Peppercorn A1 No. 60145 Saint Mungo was saved from scrap along with a few other Peppercorn A1s so they wouldn’t have to have built Tornado these past 13 years.
