I think the biggest thing that messed your trajectory in your game up was when you sent those two noble huts forward and they instantly got destroyed by his caroleans. That cost you a ton of wood, delayed your timing, and gave hime 200-300 xp for free essentially. Not to mention you had that treasure early on that he stole for 120 wood and he got your war chief. That means he got an extra torp early and his next shipment early came faster
In this match up I like the age III mace upgrade card which costs coin. I think it improves range and damage, they shred every type of musk then. But you still need something to block if they charge Great game as usual. Keep it up!
I’ve been having some trouble against Aztec recently and I thought eagle runners were supposed to trade quite well with musks but they were getting rolled by the Caroleans. Maybe with the charge they get into melee distance too quickly?
I looked some things up, looks like eagles do .75 multiplier vs infantry and Caro have higher base damage already. I was thinking caro might have bonus vs them at range but they only have bonus vs heavy cav. So caro counter them softly due to higher base damage and cheaper cost. Unrelated question - what route did you take to join the channel as a member, through desktop website? I've been looking into where the join button is available, seems like iOS it's buggy.

this is very map specific but if you ever have access to the berber natives with aztec its good i think to go for aztec mining card since it switches the cost of coyote and slings to gold and also massively boost your mining rate and yield. combined with the berber salt mines and vils you wont had run into that akward problem at the end having to macro for all 3 res to make both the war hut and noble hut units
Caroleans have 15 range and 2.5 attack rate while regular musk has 12 range and 3 attack rate. Also Carolean has ranged resistance, not melee resistance. I treat caroleans the same way as cassadors. Keep their numbers low because if the mass gets really big the only thing that counters them are skirms/lb behind a wall with artillery.
Mass JPN here would have fared better after the change of resistance to the Caroleans than otontins...but Soldier was behind all game because of key losses early on
What really makes them so difficult to deal with is in age 4 they have a card that switches their melee resist to ranged. That makes skirm much less effective vs them. They start the game with melee resistance. But yea, the range and rate of fire helps them a lot
you were wondering that the priests are taking longer to train.... i guess you didnt have the age 1 card inside your deck where the priests are getting better and i guess this fullfills the priestboom much more.
This game is a good showcase of why imo aztecs are rough to use. People can just spam musket units without being kept honest. No cannons to do so. Good age 2 civ but late game is brutal. Also pathing can be brutal with skulls and jags, especially into good micro
You should add the card that gives you free food and gold upgrades. And also the ones that makes all farms cheaper thatway if your rush fails youcan recover your eco fast and add 8 vills card. Thar wayyou eill be able to recver fadt from rush and mass jaguars yo kill those musk.

I think you're talking about the age 3 Ottontin card, which gives the +2 range and +25% hp. The age 4 card gives them +20% hp and damage
Soldier, at 11:35 you could have saved your war chief by switching your plaza over to boost his HP :)

They doubled the cost, it used to be 50 of each res, so it's a little more expensive but it's probably still worth it, just not as early in the game.

But that also makes cav a lot more effective against them.
@raptorhacker599 kind of. Caro still have their bonus vs cav at range, though. This is why they are extremely hard to counter in IV

i didn't know attacking and then changing your mind and retreating losing 15 units in the process multiple times without attaking back was an strategy
