    Consultations
As a Software Engineer, I have consulted with companies that overlap with my TH-cam channel topics. Those companies are AtGames, CastleMania Games, Game Tech US, and RetroRGB.
In 2022, I consulted for Arcade1up for “That 1Up Show'', a live-stream show on TH-cam. The scope of this consulting is assisting Arcade1up with their TH-cam live streams, show planning, audio/video assets, and helping host sections of the show.

The incorrect aspect ratio and the filter make this a hard pass for me. I'd rather look into the GBA consolizer or search for a Gamecube with the Game Boy Player. It's a decent attempt, but if they're going to mess with the quality, the user might as well grab one of those emulation consoles and not harvest boards from a GBA.

Thumps up! I prefer edited videos on any topic. On YT, I am not a fan of livecast\podcasts because they tend to be overly long, random topic jumping, start a topic and then become sidetracked never to return to the topic. Live feeds often are just a stream of thoughts that are not well organized nor concise. Technical problems can drag things out or cause a live demo to be abandon. It's my impression that many YTers content creators like creating live videos because live streaming videos are much easier to throw together (little pre\post production), thus far far easier to create than an edited video that typically can take many hours over the course of 1-2 weeks to produce a 10-12 minute YT video... With that said, this channel's podcasts are above average and I am able to listen to the longer postcasts at a faster speed. This channel's host has a natural talent for podcasting, right up there with some of the best. Has some of the same natural talent as Mauro Ranallo.

Great idea but limited scaling options leave much to be desire. For a device like this Interger Scaling is a must!

Also, really surprised at that sub count. You're gonna be huge!
Edit: On second thought, seeing that picture quality makes me worry this won't make its KS goal. ):

Very good job on explaining what this product is and showing the product in action. I prefer playing portable systems portable. Can’t wait for the switch to finally let us play GBA. This product is not for me, but content like this is. I love both arcade and video game stuff.

Yeah. Really excited for GBA option on Switch. That option will probably really change the game. MVG has a good video explaining why he tends to think the GBA for Switch is real. Good stuff.
      Appreciate the feedback. Good motivation.

I appreciate it. I feel this format might be too fast. What do you think? I like how MVG is a little smoother maybe paces himself better.

I got so excited... but the more you talked.... Aspect ratio accuracy is a MUST for me
I understand not having the gameboy color aspect ratio, but not having the gameboy advanced aspect ratio itself... ehh...
Hopefully we get a mark 2 with better scaling and true ratios

The 16:9 option is stretched horizontally by about 18.5%, and the 4:3 option is squished horizontally by about 12.2%, if people want objective numbers. No clue why they can't have the firmware output in 1080x720 like it should be.

    • @ConsoleKits
      @ConsoleKits  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Awesome!
I wonder if they are just using a hardware scaler that simply doesn’t have the option. The chip that appears to manage the scaling has the info scratch off. 🤷‍♂️

It's an interesting product. I hope they go back to the drawing board on the aspect ratio before the Kickstarter ends.
A few years back I was actually able to get a Japanese Game Cube, and a Japanese GB player with disc* when they were still cheap. I think the Cube itself (no controller, av hookups, or power source), the player, and the disc came out to $50 total. Not sure how the prices are on those now. Combined with the EON Adapter I had for my US version, I'm all set. Since Game Boy, Game Boy Color, and Game Boy Advance carts are all region-free, this works out pretty well.
I would love to see them tackle a no-solder Virtual Boy solution, but I think that might be a little too niche to be profitable, compared to the GBA.
*I don't know if these discs were more common in Japan, or if kids in Japan just took better care of their equipment, but they're significantly easier to find than US discs.

This is one of the rare cases in which I wouldn't really mind playing GBA games in 16:9, but it's a big miss to not have a 3:2 option... it's as if they didn't even understand what the native aspect ratio of the console was, because it would've been just as easy to make it 3:2 instead of 4:3.

  • @mikehawk-hertz8668

Great video! Any luck connecting/pairing this with the Intec Controller for Arcade1up? With luck, having the 16:9 stretch option might benefit filling the screen on that particular platform.
