Woohoo! We made the final edit!! This was a big highlight for us on our trip! Not bad for a Mojave! Thanks to all the folks in your group for being so friendly and welcoming. Even got to film a little when Matt was stuck.
Matt was just talking calmly about the amazing trips that they’ve had, not even fazed by the massive drop off on his side. That’s when you know you’ve been at it for a while. Great video!
Matt, I like how you describe each trail that you take. Very informative. The content not only shows the landscape but you add the trail details in as well.
Myself and my buddies were the fans at dinner you mentioned at min 10 😂 I was so pumped got the wife and kids to come watch. lol. What a great trip can’t wait to return to the San Jaun Mountains.
Just wanted to say thank you for being consistent and for providing great content. You and your wife’s adventures inspired my wife and I to begin our own TH-cam adventure. We’ve been long time supporters of your channel and I just wanted to let you know how much respect I have for the amount of time the two of you dedicate to advanced thought of camera placement, filming, editing and making sure we (the audience) feel like we are right beside you each step of the way. We are really new at making videos and are making a lot of mistakes, but failing forward and getting better each time we hit publish. If you’re ever in Texas again, let us know. Would like to buy you guys dinner and pick your brains on how you do it. We are taking our first camping trip in the JT inspired by you guys. Super excited but feel the ground tent is gonna be hot in our Texas 100+ degree weather. lol. Thank you once again.
We seen a moose too! filmed him for an hour! right before animas forks...then we seen 2 bears at the bottom of corkscrew at our campsite just before hwy 550
I feel like most of your videos is us being on a tour and you're the tour guide. Love the dialogue that you put with the views you capture man. Once the baby gets older, we're wanting to get out of the Ozarks (Glade Top is our "hardest" trail around these parts ha), and go visit some trails in Colorado.
Wow! We JUST missed you guys! we stayed 8/16 to 8/23! Mineral creek & Poughkeepsie to corkscrew were actually my favorite! You did an excellent job at showing the "consequences" of the shelfroads (not my favorite, lol) & the wall. We saved black bear/imogene for our grand finale Unfortunately they closed black bear our last day due to multiple mudslides AND Imogene! We got to do the 1st half of Imogene but never made it to Telluride, had to turn around 🥺😢 We almost missed it as well! we got back to the entrance by Ouray & they had road closed barricades! Atleast we got to do half! Now the snow's about to fly. I guess it gives us something to look forward to next year.
We were doing Creepers Jeepers, my son had wheel hub failure, our first run it was a rear wheel, caused a rear seal leak, spent 2 days in a shop. Vacation was not totally ruined. Doing it again next year
Exceptional video as always. Look forward to getting out to Colorado to do these trails once I'm finished with the Gladiator build. Not quite the r e but soon. Love what you guys are doing. My wife and I will get there soon enough. Great job as always Matt and Kara.
Definitely hated that dusty way in. Had to blow out the old cabin filter the next day! Agree mineral springs is the best way in. I was there a week or 2 after you and got sleet going over cinnamon pass. Stuck in a Horrible storm up there.
Crazy part about Adios curve on black bear pass aka "the switchback everyone is worried about" is that if you are in a 2 door jeep or an FJ cruiser it is literally not even a switchback... you just turn right and its a non obstacle. Trucks have to do austin powers thing. There is a video where family did it in Ford F350 diesel but they could not find a way to turn their even larger truck so they backed up their truck along second switchback until they reached the third. I should also note that Matt got incredibly lucky on this trip because as he said usually when trail opens up... its a zoo. In 2021 when i was on the trail for opening on July 4th... traffic backed up all the way from waterfall and switchbacks up the mountain towards where you saw lakes in the video bumper to bumper. It takes about 37 minutes to get to top of blackbear pass from silverton pass but if you got stuck in traffic on the other end... I heard stories where it took them like 12 hours to get down to Telluride. Normally entire trail takes about 4 hours with usual traffic when dust settles and its mid to late into season. When trail opens its not uncommon to have snow over top of roof of your vehicle leading up to top of the pass. It melts rather quickly though.
love Colorado, my first and only trip so far i did Imogene from telluride and had a jeep stuck off trail on ice cause they about went off from the slick ice just on back side of the top section so couldn't complete the whole trail. i will be back soon to do so. : there was a few jeeps assisting them but it was getting late and wanted off trail before dark.
Wow Matt that is for sure an awesome trail while my rig would be up to it. I don’t know if I’d be up to it. Thanks for sharing those as always great to see the location you get to.
Amazing video!! Matt did you get rid of your stealth antenna and get a bigger one? I am contemplating getting a stealth if they are worth it? Keep up the amazing work!
I did Poughkeepsie Gulch in my SxS on 7/19/24 and The Wall could’ve been renamed The Waterfall. We did the trail in an absolute downpour and the entire “Wall” area was just a huge muddy waterfall.
I totally freaked out on Mineral Creek. Had to get out and walk. Putting my feet on the ground was the only thing that helped me with the drop off from the passenger side. Gheesh.
I saw a dust devil in New Mexico just south of the Colorado line. Bright sunshine huge dust swirl going up couple thousand feet in the air. I’ve always wondered if it was as powerful as a tornado
Wow! When we’re you guys there at the Rivers Edge Lodge? We were there July 25 through 29 this year jeeping. Did Imogene, Ophir, and Yankee Boy. We loved it there, we will return.
To bad you just blasted through Susanville after you left Mt. Lassen on your way to Reno. There are a ton of places you would love to see here. Do you carry a spare 38? What happen to your buddy in the Mojave? I was curious how well it would do since that is what I drive.
Hey Matt can you tell me what the bags on your tailgate are? Ive been looking for something like that, that kinda pivot when you put the gate down? Didnt see them on your amazon link. Thanks!
This makes me sad that I had to reduce my original Colorado & Utah 2-week trip to just a 1 week Utah only trip for this year. Next year I will make it happen! (especially since I am moving there)
You hit it on the head about Black Bear Pass. I tell everybody when we go that the driver has to pay attention and not be gawking around. If You want to take in the views let someone else drive. It's not hard but it is costly to make a simple mistake. Love that area but too many SXS now. At least not any on Black Bear because you have to trailer to trailhead on both sides..
We were doing Creepers Jeepers, my son had wheel hub failure, our first run it was a rear wheel, caused a rear seal leak, spent 2 days in a shop. Vacation was not totally ruined. Doing it again next year

It was great meeting you on the side of the road by the moose!
We seen a moose too! filmed him for an hour! right before animas forks...then we seen 2 bears at the bottom of corkscrew at our campsite just before hwy 550
Wow what a great video they just keep getting better and better!! Which means your adventures just keep getting better.., Thanks Mat and Cara.

Hi Matt and Cara, what a beautiful video. Thank you so much for sharing. Cara, you gotta see the sound of music. It’s an absolute classic.🚙🚗
Just there 3 weeks ago and so cool to see again.
Hoping to get out there and explore next year, love all y’all’s content and gives me inspiration to keep trucking. Cheers!
I hope that you guys enjoyed your time in Reno! Thanks for sharing your adventures.
THE HILLS ARE ALIVE... WITH THE SOUND OF MUSIC!!! A doe, a deer a female deer... Great movie based on a true story.
YES!! Watch the Sound of Music!!!!!!
Met you one morning on Stoney this yr in mid July '24 nice to see the real thing.
Great video ( as usual ) and looking forward to meeting you guys next week in Colorado!
We were doing Creepers Jeepers, my son had wheel hub failure, our first run
it was a rear wheel, caused a rear seal leak, spent 2 days in a shop. Vacation was not totally ruined.
Doing it again next year
you guys are crazy getting in the lake
That is something my son would do
I am totally enjoying your video.
Wonderful content once again, thanks for sharing, I always enjoy your videos from Colorado
That is an awesome video, as always. Thanks for the tips; we will be up there in a few weeks.
Awesome video again guys, thank you so much 🙏
That's ones again a stunning production.
Thank you!
Exceptional video as always. Look forward to getting out to Colorado to do these trails once I'm finished with the Gladiator build. Not quite the r e but soon. Love what you guys are doing. My wife and I will get there soon enough. Great job as always Matt and Kara.
Man, we stayed in that exact room for a week a year ago. I miss it so much.
Absolutely a great video.
I am not a shelf road girl, but fun to watch you guys on them!!
Definitely hated that dusty way in. Had to blow out the old cabin filter the next day! Agree mineral springs is the best way in.
I was there a week or 2 after you and got sleet going over cinnamon pass. Stuck in a Horrible storm up there.
Beautifull scenery thank you !....your dog was trying so hard to sleep on your arm 😅😅😅

Poor Goose was trying to sleep on your forearm but you were talking Italian! (With your hands😂😂)
There is a really cool campsite right there where y'all met up at the intersection of Mineral Creek and Poughkeepsie.
Yes there is.
I can't believe that you did Black Bear the day after we did!
Great video once again.
I was just out there rhe last 2 weeks in my gx460. Great trip
Great video as always hopefully we can get some travel jobs out this way so we can do some of these trails.
We saw you driving through Ouray while at Ouray Brewery!
We have done the loop and recognize it all. Would like to see more at camp footage. Cooking, mingling, ect.
Liked the longer style of video!
Fantastic video!!!
Thanks!
Awesome video. We were up on Engineer Pass on 8/5. Turned around and went back to Silverton. Wish we would have gone ahead to Lake City.
Karen, you have to watch the movie, Sound of Music, it is an old classic
the scenery in the movie is awesome
Could have used this last week, just finished our trip. 😀
Cara! You need to watch Sound of Music! It is one of the few movies I’ve ever watched more than once!
love Colorado, my first and only trip so far i did Imogene from telluride and had a jeep stuck off trail on ice cause they about went off from the slick ice just on back side of the top section so couldn't complete the whole trail. i will be back soon to do so. : there was a few jeeps assisting them but it was getting late and wanted off trail before dark.

you can do it!!!
We always like to hit Galconda mine and up past Carson city to heart lake when we do the alpine loop.
Amazing video!! Matt did you get rid of your stealth antenna and get a bigger one? I am contemplating getting a stealth if they are worth it? Keep up the amazing work!
Yes. I moved my antenna mount to the cowl and switched the 6db antenna. So far I love it.
How can anyone call themselves an American without ever seeing "The Sound Of Music".
C' pass is a very easy pass, I hope you stop in Lake City, great little cafe there
I did Poughkeepsie Gulch in my SxS on 7/19/24 and The Wall could’ve been renamed The Waterfall. We did the trail in an absolute downpour and the entire “Wall” area was just a huge muddy waterfall.
Great video

I totally freaked out on Mineral Creek. Had to get out and walk. Putting my feet on the ground was the only thing that helped me with the drop off from the passenger side. Gheesh.
I managed to hi Engineer last year. I hope to get back out there and knock out Imogene and Black Bear. One day!!
I stayed at that hotel as well a few years ago with the dogs. I almost got tackled by a deer running through the parking lot, lol
Is Poughkeepsie a one way trail? We will be in Silverton then moving on to Telluride and wondering if we can run it south to north.
Its two way
I saw a dust devil in New Mexico just south of the Colorado line. Bright sunshine huge dust swirl going up couple thousand feet in the air. I’ve always wondered if it was as powerful as a tornado
Great videos! where did you get the map overlay that is on the hood of your jeep?

We were there a couple weeks before you.

lol I just finished a backpacking trip out in the San Juans
Great video!! Can anyone tell me what from bumper Dave is running on his wrangler?
Hey! Yes, he’s running Smittybilt SRC bumpers front and rear.
Hey Matt can you tell me what the bags on your tailgate are? Ive been looking for something like that, that kinda pivot when you put the gate down? Didnt see them on your amazon link. Thanks!

@OzarkOverlandAdventures oh man thank you so much! Ur a true gentleman.
At this point, I don’t know if I’m too late. But that really sounded like a CV axle in the front as he was slightly turning. Outboard joint.
Nope not a CV. Just my tire deep in the fender.
@@OzarkOverlandAdventures that’s good.
Kara.. you NEED to see the Sound of Music!!!
Your Frenche is adorable
Thank you!
Don't worry Cara, I've not seen The sound of music either 😂🤷🏻♂️
I spent half of this video thinking you were on the San Juan Islands in Washington. Silly me.
Hey Matt and Cara, are you gonna be at Overland Expo East? My girlfriend and I would love to meet you and talk shop.
No seat belt? Having rolled over in a 4x4 I found it useful.
Thanks mom. 😂
Nice video, enjoyed it!. Your hair is a bit much though....
You’ll get used to it. 😂
👍👍😃
This makes me sad that I had to reduce my original Colorado & Utah 2-week trip to just a 1 week Utah only trip for this year. Next year I will make it happen! (especially since I am moving there)
That is very sad!!
Are you guys going to the expo in Colorado??
I will. Cara will not.
Are you going to Overland Expo East?
We will not.

Damn.
Clicking? Ball joints perhaps?
You hit it on the head about Black Bear Pass. I tell everybody when we go that the driver has to pay attention and not be gawking around. If You want to take in the views let someone else drive. It's not hard but it is costly to make a simple mistake. Love that area but too many SXS now. At least not any on Black Bear because you have to trailer to trailhead on both sides..
Would JT last 200 thousand miles if someone decided to overland full time on a jeep JT Rubicon?
Mine is currently at 107,000 miles in 3 years with no issues so I’m optimistic. All I’ve done is a good job of keeping up with maintenance.
At 1:02:17 the spotter should not be standing on the downhill side of the jeep! Dangerous spot to be if veh starts to roll over….
C’mon Cara, Sound of Music is a must see classic. I’ve seen it, and I don’t even like musicals.
You-ray, not yer-ray
We were doing Creepers Jeepers, my son had wheel hub failure, our first run
it was a rear wheel, caused a rear seal leak, spent 2 days in a shop. Vacation was not totally ruined.
Doing it again next year
