    Beautiful and harmonious techniques that would wreck an untrained opponent.
    A determined attacker will not let you see the knife, will not present the knife arm until it's hurting you.

      Exactly!!! Before twisting an arm of or throwing an opponent, you need to kick or punch the opponent to weaken his power like Shorinji Kenpo techniques.

    Again, nice to watch, works in a school setting, but a few of those methods will fail on the street. Especially true if you must defend against someone who knows how to actually use a knife. Knives up close are far more dangerous that a firearm at the same distance. One mess up and you're dead, even if you are the ultimate master of every martial art.

      I once blocked a kneestrike with my elbow and the other person couldn´t put any weight on that leg thereafter...
      It doesn´t even need to be a nervestrike, a solid hit into a muscle is bad enough.

    Incredible, what technique s would be best to use if the person is moving the knife around or in a thrashing tyoe situation. Also, how does one defend against a knife hostage situation. Thank you for sharing this!!

    • @FreeSalesTips
      @FreeSalesTips 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It works in the same way. Aikido has significant training in controlling the movement of the wrists. The aikido people get significant training in seeing the direction of the wrist movement. They use the aggressor's energy involved in that movement to throw the aggressor to ground or otherwise lock their joints with the threat of breaking the joint.

      No you’re not, nor would they attack that slow. A real attack would be faster with both slashing and stabbing coming at random angles. The techniques shown would work in a controlled environment but doubt they’d work in a real fight.✌️

      It is supposed to diengage your opponent from fighting because aikido means way of harmonious spirit. They defendnot kill. They do not punch because they solve the conflict quickly.The lead the opponent into positions that in one more is done they could dislocate your shoulder or snap your elbow and those slams really hurt. Asian martial arts unlike the west have taoist principles(ki,chi,qigong breath wellness yin and yang) that are not agressive. The shoalin monks created their kung fu to stop wild animals and bandits that lived in the moantains. They toughen their body for spirit. Some hit harder than others but it comes down to your skill.

      @Tai Chi Tube Yes, there's a lot of better and more realistic way to disarm a knife. in a real situation it's better to run away, than risking your life doing an ineffective knife disarming technique. if you want to know how effective the technique in the video, try practicing with someone that's actually resisting..

    I've seen quite a few of these videos now but what I don't get Is why the person with the knife let's go of the knife so easily.
    Also why there are no counter attacks, the knife is in one hand and the other hand is free but he almost throws the knife away and just stands there.
    Perhaps if we saw this at speed and used a coloured diy to see if there would be any injury while attempting to do such movements.
    But get someone who can actually hold on to the knife.

    I admire but there is a gap in the movement- the stoppage, while the other apply the technique. in reality when one stab somebody the thrust will not stop when it s parried or block but continue. so if the defender did not goes out of the line of force it can be stab.

    Only in the dojo. I was sold on these techniques until I got the proper training. The knife moves about and is hard to catch IMO only the Filipino practitioners do it properly and then you have to spar with a knife just like you would in boxing if you plan to stand a chance against someone attacking you with a knife.
    No one is just going to hold their arm out there for you to grab it.

    • @FreeSalesTips
      @FreeSalesTips 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      You don't understand aikido because you don't aim for the knife when being attacked; you step off the line of attack and you can manipulate the wrist. No one is just going to hold their arm out there for you to grab it, that's why they don't block the attack and instead they let the attack continue to travel. It is during that time frame that allows the aikido guy to make contact with the body; this contact could be anything which includes the wrist, the attacking arm, the knife itself, the neck, the shoulders.

    Good fluency and hard work on every technique for this video,I enjoy the art and everything..but is very unrealistic,no gánster in a street is going to stab you with one single movement,I’ll attack aggressively and over and over again,I would like yo see a more realistic video of aikido about how to defend in a real life situation in a street cause I don’t see the art in that concept but anyways 👍🏻 good job

    No one attacks like that with a knife. He leaves himself wide open!

    Im a knife fighter & I always go to sites looking at so called knife defenses. Here's yet another that only focuses on knife thrust, I never use a thrust always super fast slashes and not 1 video showing someone realistically defending against it.

      @Gomer Gilligan None, smart ass - knife fighter is whats used to describe the training to fight with a knife. Im not gonna go back n forth with a brave youtube warrior either.

      I study myself aikido for some time (just 1 dan) but I am sorry to say that the techniques we learn are of no use in a real life situation, Moreover, they are really dangerous as they give you a sense of (false) security, because, you KNOW how to disarm a knife... I happen to know a guy who fought as a special commando "operator" - and he also study aikido (4 dan), BUT... the way he does the disarming knife techniques is very different (and, of course, EFFICIENT). Just a common sense advice: search for someone who fought for his life against knife-armed enemies. They do NOT make TH-cam videos, unfortunately. Just the fake ones, for reasons as old as mankind: money, fame and, again, money...

    In my opinion someone using these techniques against an antagonist with a knife intent on inflicting damage at best is going to get cut, at worst is going to die. Sorry as I have the greatest respect for aikido and the beauty of the art.

      Your respect for aikido is low if you don't understand where it came from. Aikido is derived from an art that deals with melee weapons. It was designed to defend against knives, daggers, short swords, long swords, and pole weapons. Aikido today is a reflection of the art to defend against melee attacks.

    Beautiful, but not for real fight. In the real fight agressor will attack much faster and shorter. He won't move all his body towards. He will make many short fast punches with knife which can't be catched by defender.

      @Tai Chi Tube Against a knife, the agressor hide his knife (or any weapon...), and you dont have time to see what happen... like this video th-cam.com/video/2xpcrDzy344/w-d-xo.html
      And what look a knife attack th-cam.com/video/E61jnJe_1SI/w-d-xo.html

      The faster and shorter the movement, the easier it is to catch. The stronger the aggressor is, the easier it is to catch. Ju jutsu works because it uses the aggressor's own energy to throw the aggressor.
      @@lunelie7724 Aikido works well with a knife because everything about aikido is about defending from melee weapons . From the very second lesson (the lesson after safe ukemi) aikido people are taught to move away from the line of energy. You don't ever need to see the knife to move like that, all you need to see is a wrist and arm movement.
