Back in the 80s when i was a kid used to clean out the barn at my grandpas with ol 1939 m with a old loader on it .Grandpa had hereford beef cattle .i cherish those childhood memories
Al, Jen is a gem following that spreader doing the video and digging an old feed sack out of a bucket of poo. I can only count one other woman I know who would do something like that....my wife. I remember as a kid riding on my granddad’s lap on the Allis chalmers WD45 hauling a full new idea beater spreader out to the hay field. Even though the spreader was behind us we invariably got hit with a chunks of poop. Good memories😁
You guys have a nice little operation. I still run a small dairy farm as well. Have been pretty discouraged lately. Appreciate you taking the time to make and share videos. Take care.
Got home from visiting this evening and noticed you added another installment, had to watch before I went to bed, keep up the good work, best channel on TH-cam!
To things I learned about a chain spreaders with a open cab 706 when I was a kid don't turn right and don't spread into the wind it doesn't end well lol
Ah man, that brought back some memories. We had a New Holland barrel spreader when I was a kid, they were simple and reliable, and spread EVERYTHING. I saw a tandem axle John Deere one for sale not too long ago, looked like it was in pretty decent shape.
We had 2 of the biggest new holland flail spreaders years ago. They were tandem axle. 371 I think was the model of those. They weren't really any longer but a lot bigger around. I have a starline flail spreader now about the same size as yours. It works really good as long as you don't pack the manure into it.
All props to you. $75.00 and a few add on fixing works just fine. Gets the 💩 where it needs to be 😂. You got some good little helpers there. And your wife seems to be a great 😊 cook 👩🍳
I remember 30 years ago going out to spread a load in the winter when a strong storm front was arriving and going into a 30 mile hour wind with both lids up. Only took about 5 minutes to unload, but was too long without a cab.
75 dollar spreader works great put paddle in back you can fix any thing got to price of equiment proud of all the hard work you all do God bless merrychristans
Wow this brought back memories. When the field was to wet we would drive down the road and spread out into the fields. Wish I had a dollar for every load I hauled with those. Still finding chains and paddles in the fields. Better to watch these operate on you tube and not in the open tractor seat
Howdy Friends, I gotta Thank you for the tasty marinade for the wild meat, I have a little deer meat left and was thinking how I could prepare something new, something I hadn't tried before, so Thank you again for a great new way I've never tried before, looking forward to trying it out 😋 Peace
Grew up around Litchfield MN on a farm just like yours - Older eq. - cut wood on a huge blade mounted on the front of an Oliver 60 - surprized no one ever got hurt.
We used to have one of those spreaders back in the day. We used to make replacement paddles out of I beam. Just torch the middle of the web a drill a hole to bolt to the chain. Works good, way cheaper than factory paddles.
Always a very interesting and showing us what you do on the farm thanks so much. Wow sure like that cooking at the end of the video thanks so much MMMMM.
Just got ready to pack venison up for freezer, change in menu tonight. Wife is goin to town for goodies. Gonna try that recipe. Merry Christmas, YES I SAID IT THE WAY ITS SUPPOSED TO BE SAID! GOD BLESS, BE SAFE! Love your channel.
It always surprised me those barrel spreaders work as well as they do. For slop I can understand, but for bed pack I would never think those chains would get up to speed, or would get caught up in each other.
Seeing that case 530 on the wood splitter that brings back another childhood memory my cousin had a homemade woodsplitter on his farmall 1206 back in the 80s him and my dad would cut firewood together my dad would use his 806 to pull trees out of the woods that was down pull out to edge of the fields of my grandparents cut them up and split them then load wood up in the loader of the 1206 take dump in old wagons to haul to the house. My dad would usually burn 16 to 20 loads of wood for winter alot of it was seasoned red oak
gotta say those are some good lookin calfs!! esp like happy and the white one with black on her face should be proud of them. i like the taste of meat dont want anything on it but salt but to each his one like your helper had 3 of them
Not having to haul manure every day, you can easily get by with used spreaders. I've seen some new vertical beater spreaders listed in the Southcentral Kansas area for $26k, pretty hard to justify that amount when the bulk of the farm manure goes in the pit.
Does that manure tank work something like a manure spreader? Jens rhubarb recipe looks really good, now it made me hungry 😋 🚜 it's snowing here and it's quite cold too
Al, is that a homemade wood splitter? What’s the gallon/minute flow on the Case hydraulics? Been thinking about making a splitter but don’t know what flow rate it would need.
This is Friday night Dec 10th. We're getting a foot of the white stuff tonight. Spent the day getting ready for it. How much you looking to get over there?
@@trinitydairy maybe the next storm... I was thinking about your manure lagoon. I will think about it more when I am hauling manure in the field on an open-cab tractor. :)
@@anthonyhengst2908 yeah, I'm sure glad that it's working, the forecast shows 49 and rain on Wednesday, then a high of 25 on Thursday, so that might cause some problems.

My neighbor did that in Spring when the frost let loose in the field. The ditches along his field yielded him many bales of hay every summer also.
Calf manure does a great job cleaning out the nasal passages
That venison recipe looked yum it makes me hungry.
Jelly on venison...well I never met a farm wife raising up a family that wasn't a legendary cook, so I guess I'll have to try it

Saw that strawberry jelly and intently knew it was gonna be a good sauce.
My Great Granny used to use jelly for her ribs. Was absolutely amazing
Good to see a family dairy still running. We sold out due to county pressure in 1993.

Good morning Trinity Dairy. Pile of snow coming here. By the radar it doesn't look like you have much yet. Have a great Sunday.
I think we've gotten about 4 inches. Hard to tell, it's so fluffy it's blowing all over.

Pretty cool spreader. I have not seen one like that here in Missouri. Keep up the good work and stay safe.

Don’t see those much in Maine. I used to know a guy who had a Deere flail spreader that was similar.

Mine got to the point that i had to keep putting bolts in some of the chains cause they started beating up the sides of the spreader!!!
Yeah, that's how this one is too.

I've seen chain spreaders for sale at auctions but never saw them in use.
Is that the one you put the hole in the back in the For the liquid manure
Yeah
Hi jen I'm coming over from the UK for dinner that venison looks good, try marinating it over night or for a couple of hours then braise it

Yeah, it just spreads out the side, instead of the back.

Have you tried the recipe on beef? Was wondering if it tasted somewhat the same. Thanksfor sharing.
I've thought about it, but we never have.
holy S@#$% that was something else
Al, is that a homemade wood splitter? What’s the gallon/minute flow on the Case hydraulics? Been thinking about making a splitter but don’t know what flow rate it would need.
Yeah, it's homemade, im not sure what the flow rate is. We have used the Farmall 560 on it also, and that worked pretty well also.
What model is that case? I can look it up
It's a 530
The 560 hydraulic flow rate is 12 gallons/minute. The 530 Case is 8.5 gallons/minute.
The 530 seems to have more power, but the 560 could be more worn too.
Going to try this recipe. But i wasnt lucky enough to get a deer this year... I wounder how this would work with beef and in a slow cooker?
Someone else suggested that. We were thinking of trying it.
That said steer really looks handy. Takes just a bit more room then a man with a shovel. Enjoyed the cooking segment. Do you make your own sausage?
We haven't done any sausage yet but I would like to try.
I can send our sausage recipe if you would like. What is your email?
