I believe Tour magazine tested the System Six as the fastest aero bike of those tested in December 2018. Beat the BMC by 8 watts with their dummy legs test. Looking forward to your future videos, especially with the comparison scores with the Reacto.
The only time I go over 40kph is going down hill. I have a love hate relationship with my current bike - a Trek Domane. I love the comfort factor, especially lack of road buzz through the hands, but I always feel I traded down, when I upgraded from my Fondriest TF2 ( I could at times nudge 40kph on the flats with this)... Comes to upgrade it will not be the Endurance / cobble busting bicycle again, I would aim for an aeroish bike.
I've got a Cervelo S3 in the same colour and is a photocopy of the systemsix. Crazy bike but I think you are correct the market is moving on with a bigger focus on comfort on the right day it's so fast. When I got it to be honest I was not happy felt like I was getting beaten with a stick. Changed tires, tubes, and finally changed wheelset and went tubeless now really happy with it. That first ride I wasn't sure I'd want to do 40k on it now I'd be happy all day
I think it depends. The top spec bike may have a harsher ride quality than the non Hi-MOD. I bought the "entry-level" SystemSix - with mechanical Ultegra. I'm sure the spec is lower all the way around - but it came with flat aero profile bars, and Vision 55's for wheels. It is a fantastic bike and as a recreational rider I have found it plenty compliant for all of my riding. I ride mostly on my own - pacing is low 30's kph when I push, and sub 30 when I take it easy. Longest ride to date is 110 km. I was hoping to build up to a century ride this summer - but life gets in the way. Don't rule it out if you really wanted it!!
Chris Gilligan Quite the contrary. I’m just thinking I may not get any more comfortable than my current CAAD12 set up 😅. Our local bike shop has the older version of the variant you chose. Ultegra+8 spoke SI crank set+Fulcrum wheels (shallow depth)+Metron4D+Trimax stem+Prologo saddle. I much prefer the model you got over this though. Oh and I’m not a great competitive cyclist by any stretch of the imagination. I’m mostly a commuter that prefers going fast and smashing PBs on a road bike 😎
@@clintnieves I'm not sure what the geometry is on the CAAD12. I moved into this one from a Specialized Allez-pro. I find the SystemSix more comfortable and faster. I really like and appreciate this bike. Part of me felt like it was way too much bike for my skill level....but I'm glad I got over that and went for it.
I think it depends what kind of riding you want to do. If racing is your goal than the system six is probably a better bet than the aeroad. But if you ride casually or go long distance rides like 100 mi or more at a time, the aeroad will be the better option.
This video steered me away from the systemsix last year, and I'm glad it did because I just bought one a few days ago in better shape with better components and wheelset for the same price :) The previous owner had tubeless 28mm gp5000 TL on it already and I immediately felt how comfortable the bike was compared to my 2021 Giant Propel Pro, 2021 Cervelo S-Series, 2021 Cube Agree C62 SL and 2020 BMC Roadmachine. Although it's quite heavy compared to the recent aero road bikes, it's still insanely fast for its weight. The tires the bike came with makes it way too stiff.
Greetings from the wintering 🇬🇧 uk , just taken delivery of my orro Venturi stc 2021 very aero , my first ride this Sunday, looking forward to see some personal best smashed , not sure I could give such a professional review as you Cam , and it is true New bike days are the best. , 👍🚴♀️👍🚴♀️

Hey Cam - great content all the time about training, and bike reviews! I have to call foul on that hate part of the SystemSix ride quality. Granted I haven't ridden a ton of bikes to compare it against. But I'm a pure recreational rider who has never had the legs for 40 kph sustained pace and I love everything about my SystemSix, including the ride quality. I ride generally on tertiary roads in where the pavement is anything but smooth and new, and I have taken it out for as long as 3.5 hours continuous (no coffee shops - get on the saddle and ride for 3.5 hours) and have never felt that "get me off this bike it's punishing me" feeling.
@@CamNicholls Thanks Cam. I'm not sure if it would affect the ride quality - but I bought the bike as motivation to get back into riding and being out of shape - I am a long way from "slamming the stem" to get the full aero experience of the bike. I train mostly on my own and there is no doubt that the aero makes a difference....even at my modest pace in the low 30's kph.
Again I'm not sure how much difference it makes in terms of compliance....but I don't have the top of the range model. Maybe there is some additional stiffness in the "Hi-MOD" frame, wheels or whatever else in the top spec. I'm also rolling on 25's at 80 psi which helps the comfort.
Looking forward to the review of both bikes... I was looking at a system six, but was told it was sluggish climbing hills and passed on it. I’m sure there were other reasons that I’ve long forgotten...
@@CamNicholls For me that's the main factor when buying an aero bike, I'm from Colombia and everytime I go for a ride with my mates there are +30min climbs, and I just can't find a review where someone tackles that kind of terrain in an aero bike. Maybe you can shed some light on the issue!!
Cam, you might find a nice set of 28s at 80psi will deal with harsh ride. I agree it’s a bit fidgety, but guess that 10cm wide seat post is the culprit. When you get the Knot 64 wheels on as well, it does fairly fly above 40kmh.
I'm rolling 25's at 80 psi and for me it is plenty compliant. I haven't even had the time to go tubeless....I think it might be even better next summer when I make that switch.
I've riden a lot of modern "aero" bikes but I keep going back to my Gen1 Venge. It's just such a good all rounder for an aero bike and in the real world gives little away to the "latest and greatest". Not to mention Bruce McLaren was a Kiwi ( some of you will get this statement ) ;)
Not surprising if the system six isn't as comfortable as something like the aeroad. The system six was designed to be the most aero bike for racing with some wind tunnel tests saying its THE most aero. That's probably why Canyon decided to sacrifice some aerodynamics for comfort with their latest models.
Haha! I am a 57 year old female and I find the System Six to be my most comfortable bike 🤣 I'm not going as fast as you but even going at my modest pace it's awesome!! I also have a Trek Domane and it's NOT as comfortable, perhaps the fit is off slightly... Thanks for the review though, you made good points and I agree with all except the slower speed comfort.
I've had a SystemSix for a while and can endorse the points made on speed. I have the KNOT 64 wheels and ran them from the start on 25mm tubeless. At 70 psi they roll nicely and cope with rough British roads pretty well. Whilst it's not as smooth as my Domane, I don't ever get back from rides feeling beaten up by it, well not by the handling anyway 😄.
Cannondale are a little disappointing not letting you race the bike, you have real credibility as an honest person and making quality videos. Thinking you have taken the batton from Cycling Maven 👍
So basically, it's like driving an Enzo when what you really want is a grand tourer like a Portofino? That SystemSix screams "dedication to speed" while SuperSixes are everyday rigs for the road. Gotta love both of them.
Luescher teknik has a couple, but unfortunately they are broken, due to a pin they fit to stop the steering travel. Go check it out, not exactly a great design and all i can say, but drop this bike, it will be a write off!

That’s some fancy backdrop bike! What’s wrong with it ? 🤔
Nothing. Trying to sell it though.
@@CamNicholls I found your channel with the “Dream bike build” but I only saw you ride it a couples of times. A few months after I bought a Tere 🤓 sweet all rounder IMHO
Hardest crit race, Harder than Glenvale?
Fastest! I’ve had plenty of Glenvales that were twice as hard as this!
His wife is super cute
I have no days over 40 km/h :(

Why does every bunch have a Karen?
I think the use of "dickhead" language is uncalled for and very rude.
2 Things do not trust in this life. 1. A guy who upload videos to make money 2. Going with 50km/h is fast with 21m Elevation gain :D :D :D
I don’t make money from TH-cam. Well peanuts. I make money from coaching. I just like making videos.
@@CamNicholls This is bad for youtube policy... you have tons of videos and you help ppl, or you mean they dont pay enough?
WAH STOP SURGING
