    Thanks for the video. It was incredibly helpful and allowed me to fix a hard to start and temperamental carb. I first put the carb together incorrectly. I didn't notice there was a base gasket beneath the diaphragm. I took the carb apart again, added the base gasket, and she's running like new!

    • @GeometryWars
      @GeometryWars 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      In my case, I also wanted to mention that the carb was in great condition. No dirt or sludge. I think what the problem was is that the diaphragm seems to be wavy and parts of it were hardened, likely causing it to not move as it should.

      @@GeometryWars did you replace the diaphragm? Glad it’s running now.

      @@SHONEY21Z Yeah, I bought an OEM carb kit off of Ebay so I replaced all of the gaskets (diaphragm too) and the needle. Oddly enough, it didn't come with a new spring-- so don't lose that sucker! lol

    Thank you for trying to show us how to clean a carb and then showing that the blower will run. I too picked up a Stihl Br380 and with an after market carb I am finding it harder to get the blower to run good. I guess we work with what we have, haha.

      The aftermarket carbs are temperamental, I always try to rebuild oem carbs before replacing. Oem carbs are more expensive but work very well.

    Awesome video! I have the same model. Can you tell me what the default carb adjustment screw settings should be? Can’t find this anywhere! Or, alternatively the rpm’s to shoot for (I have a tachometer). Thanks!

    • @SHONEY21Z
      @SHONEY21Z  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I usually start with 1 full turn on the high and 3/4 turn on the low. You want to be slightly on the rich side so I’ll adjust the H out until it starts to bog and then slightly back in until it revs high. I’ll adjust the L 1/4 turn at most of the carb is in good shape. Then I’ll use the idle screw to fine tune. Anything between 1500-1800 is good. With blowers, some ppl like the idle a little higher so it can still move light debris off sidewalks.

    Great video ,nice and speedy repair . I have one with a new carb. It has spark at the plug whether the switch is on either off or on position . Any thoughts would be very helpful . I also wonder how the carb picks up fuel without a primer bulb .
    Needless to say it is not starting , my neighbour got it for free after his workmate fitted a new cylinder and piston and gave up on it .

    • @SHONEY21Z
      @SHONEY21Z  ปีที่แล้ว

      Did you check compression? The carb pulls fuel with the choke and pulling the motor over. Check your plug to see if you’re getting fuel. If you are getting spark and fuel, I would check compression, maybe they didn’t put the right crank seals or seal the bottom end the right way when they replaced it.

      @@SHONEY21Z Thanks for reply . My spark has vanished and I fitted a OEM coil today still no spark . Was wondering is it possible that the magnets on fly wheel are too weak . Sorry for pestering but a new coil , new plug and no spark leaves me a bit distressed . Thanks a lot for reply .

      @@ringsidejudge4302 my next thought would be the kill switch at the handle. You’ll have to see if disconnect it gives you spark. It could be shorted and causing the coil to be grounded. The switch should be on the handle. You’ll have to take it apart.

    Mine only has 95 pounds of compression will this still run?

    • @SHONEY21Z
      @SHONEY21Z  ปีที่แล้ว

      That’s borderline. It probably will. Take the muffler off and look in on the piston with a light. Pull the motor over until you see the piston and see if it’s smooth or has big scratches. If it’s scratched pretty bad, it may not have enough compression. Let me know

    I have a br420 with 110 psi - u think that's too low to run?

    • @SHONEY21Z
      @SHONEY21Z  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Basic rule of thumb is at least 100psi. It should be enough to run but likely has some wear. If you didn’t already, try a compression test again with full throttle and see if it changes. Also check your tester on another machine to make sure it’s accurate. What you can do is remove the exhaust and slowly turn the motor over and examine the piston. There should be no wear or scratches. If there is, you’ll probably need a new top end, now or eventually.

    How did u put middle and spring

    • @SHONEY21Z
      @SHONEY21Z  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Very carefully. I set the spring and needle in first. Then with the pin through the lifter, I set it on the spring and the open end under the needle and hold it down while I grab the screwdriver and screw and place it in without moving the rocker/spring/needle.

      I do not get gasoline pulled through what other thing should I check
      When I spray starter fluid blower starts and stops do not run continuously
      So I was thinking some how it’s not getting gasoline can u help what it could be from here to start check

      I checked and made sure that fuel is coming through the fuel tubing.
      I reinstalled and cleaned complete carburetor.
      It cranks and stops
      But one thing I messed up is High and Low and Idle setting.
      Is there any way I can get that set back without blower crank.
      I do not have any special tools except I can turn high low and idle knobs because they turn with small flat screw driver.
      Please help and reply if possible I would appreciate your input thanks.

      If you get it figured out? If it’s not pulling fuel it could need a carb or carb rebuild. Also if the gasket from the carb to the intake is not there or on wrong, it’ll block the impulse and won’t run the carb pump.
