Jeff Lain of the Kaddie Shack discusses jetting and venturi replacement on Kadron Solex H40/44 EIS carburetors for air cooled VW engines. This is a technical tutorial that goes into great detail about how to replace these components correctly, and how to avoid the pitfalls of common mistakes people make. He discusses main jets, idle jets, air correction jets, and venturis; as well as how to disassemble the carburetors and properly replace them. This is an essential "how to" for do-it-yourselfers to properly upgrade your carburetors and make them run properly.

Jeff... You... Sir... Are a god among men. I am learning so much about my Kadrons from you. They are working like CRAP right now. And I believe (from this video) I understand why. I'm going to need to upgrade my jets and my venturi as my 1914 was built with stock 40-28 venturi and stock jets. Calling you Monday for a kit to redo both my carbs!! I CAN'T WAIT!

Great video! I wish I had watched this video earlier. You are absolutely correct about the 2 screws from the valve body destroying an engine. I just had it happen to my 1776.

Great video. I have a set of solex 44…will be using to upgrade my stock 1600 dual port. Also, im upgrading from peashooter to AA sidewinder. Not sure which jets and venturi i have inside, but gonna giv em a try

I have a stroked 2054, it has the 42/37.5 heads and 120 cam, if I buy a dual carb kit from y’all can you make a suggestion and customize my new carbs to what you think I might need??

I have a customer who owns a 1978 Transporter that some clown removed all the fuel injection on (more than likely because he had no clue as to how to fix it) and installed a couple of these carbs. Anyway, got them properly synchronized but they're way fat off idle. Main jet is a 130. According to the case number, the engine looks up to be a 1973 1700cc type 4. It appears to have a stock exhaust and cam.
Not sure if you're monitoring this video anymore since it's quite old but do you have any charts for jet & venturi sizes?
