It was leased because they gave 5 months free at that price, so its technically leased for much less than what was advertised because of the free months
yeah that's the only way something this overpriced would lease in today's market.
If I could afford to live in New York City, I would like to live in an apartment something like this versus brand new construction. I love the character. Doesn't feel cookie-cutter.
These videos just make me feel so grateful for my boring old house. With its boring yard, and its boring basement and garage. And a mortgage that's less than what it costs to rent a closet in New York.
It will never not bogle my mind to see these NY Apartments that are 1 bed for 5.4k USD that have the classic landlord painting over wall outlets, cheap cabinets and have the audacity of charging for gym and parking, and $475 non the least.
NY Landlords are insane.
Wow! I'm impressed! I grew up in that area when those buildings were factories and warehouses. I would have never dreamed that Downtown Brooklyn could morph into such a beautiful place. Great memories and a great video.
You should see industry city. A lot of warehouses were converted to condos, apartments, and businesses

I kow that apartment is in a great location in new york city and its newly renovated, but please 5395 dollars for that is just outrageous.

@@MamaCarola1 True, but it doesn't really matter for the sake of this comparison. Some parts of Brooklynn are more expensive and exclusive than Manhattan, and the apartment is still a bargain at $5395.
This is actually good space for the price!!! You can pay five or 6 grand for a 1000 square foot two or three bedroom.
This apartment is absolutely fabulous ! And it has really neat amenities and character ! But Rachel….girl this shoes 👠 are ICONIC !
Fewer millionaires and more working poor people please. Seeing what can be done by people with limited resources is so much more inspirational than seeing what the wealthy are up to.
Agree, but Cash has to make a living. I’d love to know how many of these places get rented to people who have seen the channel or are we all just a bunch of voyeurs from around the world?😆
5.5k/mo / 4 = 1375/mo, and $50/mo for the whole apartment to have gym access, seems like it could work. The 4x use would require some creative carpentry for a few k, but would probably be worth it. If there are occupancy limits in the lease, it may be only 3x I reckon. Remember how deep and high ceilinged that "living room" is.

To rent this unit u will need to make x40 the rent (Minimum rule in NYC) 5.5K/mo = You need to make 220K per year on a permanent work contract to even be considered for this unit at minimum. For newly refreshed units like these its x45 the rent or x50 the rent. :)
He’s well balanced, he does multiple tiny apartments and rare cheap finds. Cash if you’re reading this, I and others appreciate the variance of both and its balanced like your reporting content. And New York is like that, poor and rich all in one area

I love warehouse conversions! I've checked out this building before online, the larger apartments with the interior windows are odd, but that's the beauty of living in a warehouse. The high ceilings and original features all look great. Parking is definitely too expensive. A very instagram friendly neighborhood.
PS: I love the agents twist on the old "blue jeans with a white blouse" outfit: cropped, with the nice yellow shoes: Very stylish!
Love these warehouse conversations. Looks solid and this specific apartment looks well finished - not like some others where it is to see that costs are cut. However, the entrance hall is fantastic.
You'll be able to hear everything from your mext door neighbor also thru the thin walls

Ok...I'm talking about NYC prices, which are outrageous already...but this place isn't priced too bad, when you see how big it is, great storage, with a nice kitchen and the warehouse industrial character. The old building is great with good amenities and a garage. It's in a very nice, iconic neighborhood. Of course, any other place...this would be crazy expensive, but compared to seeing other apartments similarly priced in NY....this is not a bad deal. Very nice.
If I could, I would definitely live there. They did a super job on the conversion and the amount of space i awesome.

That's typical for cars in NYC, in fact, I've seen open lots in Manhattan that are $900+/mo per car.

Cash- This is a magnificent building. Great use of space. If you are in the correct income bracket it would be doable . It actually looks safer than many areas in NYC. Too bad they can’t use all the empty warehouses and turn them into rent controlled apartments for the many worthy citizens of NYC. We can only dream.

4:20 That preserved shoe factory lobby reminds me so much of the Bradbury Building in downtown LA.
The whole interior was covered with plaster, and the building was going to be demolished ... when they started taking off the plaster, they found the beautiful brickwork behind it, and all the wonderful wrought iron ... and now the building is saved.
$500 a month for a parking space is NOT reasonable. WTF..
Great place. . .Rachel is so charming. Love the neighborhood. . .but the area could use some trees. . .its very industrial. Dumbo and Redhook have really become hot spots.

Good morning Cash. Thanks for the tour with Rachel, she is very pleasant. The apartment is great love the windows. I just don't understand why buildings that have gyms and parking charge extra for those the rent is high enough in most cases too high.
$475 monthly for car parking is steeeeeep. These people will never see the fruits of their labor and hard work paying (wasting) these ridiculous prices

Dumbo is actually the second most expensive area in Brooklyn, the first most expensive area is Brooklyn Heights with the most expensive townhouse sold about three years ago for $23M

DUMBO (which is not "downtown Brooklyn" as it is being called here) is an absolute nightmare to live in now. It's expensive beyond belief, packed with tourists during the weekends, parking is impossible and come night time 90% of the neighborhood is shut down. If you're gonna spend such a high amount of money to live in that area, head one or two neighborhoods south to Brooklyn Heights or Cobble Hill. You will be much happier!

For the last 10 years I’ve lived down the near the train station and I don’t really hear it anymore. The train has never stopped me from sleeping.
I lived in this neighborhood, right behind the building that's under construction close to the bridge. They have two sets of windows and it's completely silent inside.

You will definitely need a few ceiling fans in this apartment otherwise all of your heat in the cold winter will stay up near the ceiling and you’ll be freezing your ass off paying alot of money for heat you can’t really feel, yikes 😳
It's cold. Would be great for tap dancing or rollerskating though. I like heavy carpet and a small space with no echos.

Watching this from Europe and seeing you being all “wow” about basic things like shelves in kitchen, tumbler or …normal water pressure, I cannot imagine how bad the conditions must be in “regular” apartments. so many things we in Europe consider absolutely normal that you guys seem to find a great luxury, and all that for a price of a villa in Europe… wow
That Dumbo spot has an open bar and market on the weekends when it's nice out..That's an amazing area.

This apartment needs a good size kitchen. After paying rent plus all the extras, it will be about $7000 a month. There will be no money left to eat out.
I love it when they restore old buildings. There is great architecture back in the day. The new stuff it's just crap.

Love the layout. You enter the apartment straight into the kitchen, but it doesn't seem like it with the movable island.
I love converted warehouses. We have a few in DTLA and they're so nice, but it's just sad how unaffordable they are.

Dude how do people survive? You spend $7k with everything just to live in NYC. You'd have to make at least $8k a month. And there's barely any savings left.
Finally, an expensive Brooklyn neighborhood that is worth it. Did Cash say most expensive? I thought some of those in Manhattan were worse.
Good value, this place, but what an HVAC! Central air, though (I don't understand why so many "new" apartments there don't have that). You're probably gonna pay up the wazoo for gas heating, though.

Rachel is really great for giving scale to the place. I usually can't tell how big real estate is with all the crazy lenses used.
Only thing I don't like, is the wall division, with the cutoff windows.

The livingroom and bedroom seem small because they are narrow. The kitchen is amazing though.

Its amazing people are use to paying so much and getting so little in return in NYC, I'd have to move first. It literally makes no sense to live there unless your yearly salary is $200k or more.
I cant fathom anyone saying they would live here... 50 dollars per apartment for a basic gym and 475 to park is utterly absurd. I know there are people who make upwards to 5 grand a month but at that point buy a house
