New subscriber, love your journals. My first one is a lot like yours, lol, alligator mouth. I use my junk journals as my bible journals. It’s so fun to look through them from a couple years ago and lift all the flaps, look in the tuck spots and see my notes. See what I was going through at the time. They show my journey as I grew with the Lord.
Hello, Diane, I am so excited to see your channel growing so quickly. This is well deserved, and may you continue to be blessed as you give God the glory. I have never made a fabric cover, and I have never used Amazon packaging. I do save Amazon envelopes for this purpose, which is great. Your journal is beautiful, I love the fabric, and your tutorial was easy to follow, thank you so much. Before I go, I would like to share a Bible verse with you. I do scripture writing, and in December our topic is the names of Jesus. Today's name is the Door - John 10:9 - "I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture." Amen. Wishing you a great week ahead and I look forward to following along as your journal comes together. Hugs, Kitty.
I usually save everything, but I must admit, I’ve been throwing mine away but not anymore thanks to you, and I love the word of God, thanks for sharing your faith.💝
I have made journals using paper and plastic Amazon packages. I love the squishiness of them. I usually put fabric on the outside and paper card stock on the inside. I struggle with the closures and sometimes with the covers. I have never added a spine in mine so I am going to try this and I’m excited about doing it. Thank you for the suggestion
Yes I have made a fabric junk Journal out of a beautiful sheer, lacy valance on the outside. I used a piece of fabric from a dress that was silky taffata type of material on the inside. I used a file folder but I made it flip over like a calendar rather than sideways like a book. It was a Christian Journal as a gift for my sister who had encouraged me to let my inner artist out with with some spending money for supplies. I wanted to bless her in return. It was my first Journal and I was amazed as to how the spirit of God brought it together as if the journal created itself as I step out in faith. Just yesterday I was sorting through my materials so I can do another journal for a sister in Christ and came across some Amazon bags I had set aside for another fabric Journal. I too have been saving scraps of fabric from discarded items even a leather purse and a beautiful tapestry cloth placemat set. Today this video popped up and enjoyed your personality and toward the end was even more blessed to discover you too are a sister in Christ. I have subscribed and look forward to seeing your follow-up videos I hope they will be easy to find in order, do you put links to your previous one to help us find them among your multiple videos? I have not seen any of your other videos but had determined while watching this one and enjoying your personality as well as how good of a teacher you are that I was going to watch the rest of the series. Looking forward to receiving that what you are gifted to impart to us... I am glad He is answering your prayers to be a blessing to others and has connected us here. May I be so bold as to add I am hoping as I move forward that I will be able to figure out how to create my own TH-cam channel and put up some of the images I have taken of the different pages I've created to go in not only my sisters Journal but others in my life who I desire to bless as I let my inner artist out my faith. Thus far they have all been Christian and I not only made them with a Christian theme but also according to the personality of those I give themto. For example my sister likes pink and Lacey and pastels so I used various recycled colored papers . My friend of 40 odd years likes art deco and nouveau, glitz and glammer and Fine Furniture. I added pages which remind me of her and our precious friendship. I chose to enable her to add recipe cards and photos and even a few adult coloring book pages, etc along with a Christian theme. I made her cover out of I recycled gift bag that had glitter all over it reinforcing it with a spine similar to yours . I have been collecting materials through various sources mostly for recycling and an eager to create a fabric Journal for another Christian sister next ; has a thank you gift from my daughter who is the one who urged me to let my inner artist out by giving me mixed media art handcraft material of all sorts that she found when she had a booth where she sold vintage items she collected through estate sales. I will probably use one of the Vintage handkerchiefs and Lacey napkins on this project with one of the smaller Amazon bags.
Hope you don't mind but PS I liked what I saw thus far they were very pretty I'm eager to see what the pages look like inside as well as the ephemera. And I appreciate that you share the mistakes that you learned through for our benefit as well. Next I'm going to look at the one video that you said would be linked to this one of the finished product where you do a flip through I think. Again thanks ever so kindly for taking your time to share your gifts with others. Sorry for the typos and they comment above but hopefully you figure it out what I really meant to say.

Hello! New subscriber here. I love that you are doing God‘s work. I’ve made many journals as gifts for friends, and I asked for their favorite Bible verse and everything inside follows the theme of that verse. And yes, they were all gator mouth!! LOL!All were Hardcover books that I ripped apart and reconstructed. It is a joy to share His love and grace for us with something beautiful that we have made. ✝️
Yes! These make great journals!!! I haven’t used fabric on the covers yet but have used card stock and pretty metal corner protectors and I think they will hold up well! Nice tutorial - I was wanting to make some faith based journals as well!!
I am a newbie here and very excited about your videos coming up. I can't wait to learn more about this process and how to make different ephemera. I have made a fabric covered junk journal, and I found it so much fun. But, I think the most difficult thing for me was, what do I fill the pages with to get them to correspond with each other. God bless you for teaching this to us. ~ Janelle from Michigan
I have made fabric covered junk journals and like to use doilies I find in the vintage stores. Also lace from dresses or clothing. But I haven’t tried the paper bag yet, I either use book covers or cut my covers out of sturdy card board, and all mine end up being alligator mouth...lol. I also love to incorporate Bible verses and encouraging and inspirational sayings. Love this new journal you are making, waiting to see the rest of the journey.😍
I had some fabric that was like contact paper, the glue was already on it. I used it over a regular manila 9 x 12 envelope and retained access to the flap so I had a built in pocket. That was my very first jj. I made 3 more just like it for 3 sisters who lost their mom (my close friend) and they cried they were so happy! And yes, they were gator mouth I put so much stuff in. I actually use a faux book box to store it because it's just so fat. I'm happy I found your channel today! I include my faith in areas of my journal but so far have not made one just faith based. An idea for the new year!
Hi! I have a suggestion about the glue to use under the fabric - Weld Bond. It's a really nice, strong white glue. Big bottle with a big spout. You can put into bottles with smaller spouts for smaller beads of glue. It would work perfectly to glue that fabric to the paper because you can spread it out instead of leaving it in globs like the Fabritac. It dries clear and flexible plus doesn't stink like Fabritac. Available at Hobby Lobby and even hardware stores
@@faithartdesignstudio If you have a dollar general nearby, they have a set of 3 smaller empty bottles with small spouts for $2. Works great with this glue. Rita Jensen on You Tube was the first I saw use it. I use it instead of almost any other glue now except maybe a glue stick for some things.
Hi my friend, love your digital and would love to purchase more. I'm the one that you had to send them a different way so I could download it. I have made many fabric journals. I just want to say I sell my journals, and when I get feedback on who receives them, that journal was what that person needed scriptures and all. And it's all JESUS. Our LORD amazes me all the time. I'm always in awww 🥰

The fabric is so very pretty. Such a nice find! Congrats on all your new subscribers. Speaking of the paper bag journals. I finally found the cover you used on the #3 paper bag journal. I hadn't heard back from you about where I could find it, so I thought to check one more time. I don't know how I missed it the times before but there it was > in your Victorian Christmas Kit. It is now in my shopping cart :) Have a nice day.
I love using fabric. It’s a tossup as to which I love more, fabric or paper. But I have a lot of fabric and so I try to use it as much as I can. The challenge for me has been to find the right kind of glue and to keep the glue from seeping through the fabric. From watching several different creators, I’ve come to the conclusion that using a very thin layer of Mod Podge mixed with just a tiny bit of water, and applied with a wide brush works the very best.
