    I'm no pro at this, but looks like you might want some sort of stopper to prevent the screen from lifting so high after the spring/bungee pulls it up. Otherwise you'll be dumping (or even catapulting) ink if you aren't holding onto it in between prints. Should be a simple adjustment.

    I love all the people complaining about the price of the tools. Hand saw, pack of cheap screw drivers and a tape measure = $10. Get to work. Wait till you see the price of decent screens if you don't have the tools to build them.

      Or, they can try purchasing a shirt press instead and pay $250! Basic tools used here, you can use a cheap jigsaw or have them cut some of these pieces at Lowe's. If you don't have wood shop tools, this isn't the kind of project on which you can embark anyway!

    If you use a piece of thin card board with some spray tack on both sides inside the shirt, you could spray tack that down to this pallet and then have better print quality and possibly be able to print it again after raising the screen. Just in case you didn't get the print off ;) Come get some Catspit~!

    where did the 3in piece go? was it the piece you used to stop the arm from going back up to vertical? also do you have any suggestions to remove any play in the press? i picked up 2 different brackets thinking about putting them in the area near the screen holder. i just put it together about a week ago and tried it out yesterday and noticed some shift when the screen comes down.

    • @jamieryandowney9880
      @jamieryandowney9880 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      It can be done rather easily. I recently learned that if you use a piece of clear plastic like transparency film, you can tape that down, and do a print on it, then use the print on the plastic to line up with the previous print, flip the film over and print on the paper or t shirt and repeat.

    • @muhammedzaeem5795

      Jamie Ryan Downey. are you talking heat transfer stickers?

    • @jamieryandowney9880
      @jamieryandowney9880 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      No no. I mean...you tape a clear piece of plastic or mylar down that can be flipped out of the way (I personally have taped it to the right side. So after you have laid the first colour down, you set up the second screen and you do a print of the second colour on the plastic. then, put the paper under the plastic and register it the image that is on the plastic, then you flip the plastic out of the way once it's lined up and then print on the paper...because the plastic is taped down it will not move and the image shows you exactly where the screen is printing.

    • @heliumbiscuits
      @heliumbiscuits 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      OK, you are right. It can be done with simpler tools. How bout $150 in tools then? Or you could just borrow them.

    • @JackmanWorks
      @JackmanWorks  8 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Exactly! Don't sell yourself short. You'd be shocked with the stuff I built when I was a kid just by borrowing my fathers corded drill and jig saw.

      you can rent all those tools from home depot

    • @ManCrafting
      @ManCrafting 7 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I had a neighbor I called the borrower. He painted his entire house borrowing the tools he needed. He rebuilt the surround on his front door entrance with borrowed tools. He took down 2-3 75 ft trees in his yard borrowing chainsaws. He had party's at his home with borrowed tables and chairs and other things that many people can't live without. So I imagine, this entire build could be done for $20 or less if your patient and find/recycle wood and aluminum.

      gruff madness what I do is make different screens

    • @demora6006
      @demora6006 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      for example I wanna put a face on my shirt I make a screen with the shape of the head only color white then I let it dry then wash the screen and add the skin color. I get another screen to make the shades or any other details then at the end I have another screen with the outline so I use black or whatever other color you want. That's how I do it

      Really? No disrespect to Jackman but I've been researching screen printing for about a year and this is what I'd call "average" as far as home built screen printing gear (1 color)> There are many videos out there with much more engineering put into these things. Again, with no disrespect to Jackman. Looks like it works fine for him.
