I know this is a Joe Alt appreciation vid, and he deserves it. But check out Scott Matlock, a converted DT (now playing FB) at about 10:40 in this vid...he gets his guy, but as the breakdown suggests, either 75 or 79 is supposed to get the other LB, and behind angle doesn't really show it, but he blocks his guy & then hesitates in the hole to shield the other LB from getting the tackle. It was obviously an ad-lib move but it's an exquisite one, especially for a guy who's only been playing FB for about 4 months.
PFF rates our interior three O-lineman as wome o fthe worst in the NFL.. and we are still 9-6.. My guess is that we will address this need in the draft. Remember that our veteran center retired in June. The center is the "QB" for the O-line, calling out adjustments at the line based on what he sees in the defense. THese guys aren't easy to replace.
@@BillinHungary I hear the criticism on the inside guards and center then i see these plays in slo mo these guys are doing a hell of a job against very good D lines. Mr. Bozeman #75 won me when he defended his QB ! I think Nick Hardwick is doing a very good job teaching and sharing his knowledge to the O line ! Go Bolts ! ! !
He’s growing. As a steelers fan, i wish Broderick had the same level of technique and will as joe. Joe is playing out of position and still making progress
Solid analysis. Alt is 100% a great asset you the chargers team and it's unfortunate that the majority of fans don't understand and appreciate the game enough to understand it.
I was happy when we drafted him, and I am even happier how this season is going. I was 100% expecting of going 6-11 at best 8-9, us being 9-6 while having an abysmal skill position group is amazing. Jim has been fantastic.
I did rip another video you did on KC and the refs on this channel, so I will give you a lot of credit on these Joe Alt videos. They are excellent. I will say that the comment about Alt and penalties is laughable. He has 7, and I think that like 3-4 are garbage calls. He is also getting the majority of the opponent's premium pass rusher. He is having an A+ season.
Nice analyses. I appreciate the direct, no wasted words approach. Herbert probably has learned to fade back on pass plays because his receivers except for McConkey have trouble getting separation.
1:30 one of the best stops of speed to power hes seen.. meanwhile slater is casually stopping the same thing on the other side on the same play hahah.. chargers fans are fuckin blessed rn
Some insight on Herbert’s “fade” technique. He’s developed this over time with the chargers due to having bottom 1/4 interior offensive lines. The only season he didn’t exhibit this as much was 2021 when they had Corey Linsley healthy for a full season
As a Chargers fan, I thank you. Easy to feel we should have gotten Bowers, as it’s so obvious how good he’s doing in nfl. OL easy to not recognize during the play, and I wasn’t even sure how well he is doing for such a high pick. 👌
im with you bowers or nabers are already elite playmakers. I still worry they made the wrong choice there is just such an obvious lack of weapons at the skill position level. That being said still a hit of a pick and they were probably scared of whiffing on a first round receiver with the qj debacle
Great analysis! I believe JA's sprained MCL might've contributed to some of his low ratings. Nonetheless JA will get more experience and just get better, which is extremely positive for Herbert's health. Need some interior line help in next year's draft/FA.
From the looks of it, Joe Alt is out shining Rashawn and eventually going to be the LT. Rashawn losing his footing shows the collapse of the pocket and Justin rushing that throw.
tell me you watch ZERO football without telling me you watch ZERO football... Slater is a top 3 tackle in the entire game regardless of LT or RT, absolutely blanked the man with the 3rd most sacks coming into this game, and outside of like 4 plays all season has been his normal ELITE lockdown LT self... homie Slater and Alt are gonna be here till Herbie retires more than likely

Matlock used to be a TE... so technically he is a converted TE, to DT, to FB. Beast
That double block on the Gus Edwards TD was a thing of beauty. So glad we didn't draft Nabers.
Once we get better interior linemen and a healthy running back imagine how much more dangerous we will be!
Drafting Slater and Alt within a couple of years is insane
Zion Johnson to but he's not turning out quite as well

He said Rashawn Slater was teaching him a lot about NFL speed.

This is excellent play analysis. Alt is a Brick Wall! Keep up the good work!
🤪

Joe is a BEAST!

Now how do we get a generational center? We will be SET
@CinemaJacket they fall to the back half of the first round every year!
@@CinemaJacketI believe they will try to get Ryan Kelly off of free agency

That’s some good film right there on the rookie
Chargers fan here, as much as we need receiver weapons, Harbaugh made the right call drafting Joe Alt.
Joe Hortiz had a good first draft
Getting solid production from alt, McConkey, hart and still
Don't forget 44 !!! Big help
He has gotten better. I expect him to be a beast in his second year.
LOL, On the Herbert scramble from his 5(ish), did anyone notice the "block" by Ladd? Great WR, but not going to be taking Alt's job anytime soon.
He is trying his best, bless him 😅
He’s tiny
Strong wind blows McConkey over
At least 3 of those 7 penalties on Alt this year were complete BS
Chargers have no breakaway speed in receivers so Herbert has to do that extra fade just to get them open.
30 seconds into the video they had 2 commercials on TH-cam it's terrible now
3:50 #79 made a huge block on that play also
you watch him and it’s easy to forget he never played RT before coming into the league
He looks and plays like a 5 year veteran
He has played RT in college but very little. Almost not worth mentioning but I wouldn't say he's never played the position before.
Alt or Mcconkey Jersey???
James
Well, they have a great coach!
The right guard is great too.
Good content ⚡️
Your doing a great job Joe protecting Herbert 😊

A good offensive line automatically makes the rest of the team better
I can't wait to see his 2nd year leap.
Joe Alt Delete
I like it delete D line ! Welcome to the NFL first game Max Crosby ....."WHO" !
Surprised the Broncos didn't blitz 5 or 6 more often. Like the Bucs did.
Large athletic human
⚡️⚡️⚡️
The interior O line is trash. I can't wait for the chargers to address this through the draft and free agency.
From the looks of it, Joe Alt is out shining Rashawn and eventually going to be the LT. Rashawn losing his footing shows the collapse of the pocket and Justin rushing that throw.
slater is the 3rd highest graded tackle in the league and completely shut down bonito all game. Hes not going anywhere

You're wrong and I dislike you.
Slater and Alt are not our problem. We need to upgrade the interior Oline.
