When I was two I went to kathmamdu
I was just there in March 2020 and oh my. I fell in love with Nepal everything about it. ThankYou for sharing this. I’m going back to relish in the magic of this beautiful county ❤️🙏🏻❤️
Sorry mate you had to come back becoz of travel restrictions.. Kathmandu is polluted so visit other places rather Kathmandu. You will have great time. And same goes to your country . It is a marvel place to live the aussie land
Bee-bus Cwakoti I went to Chitwan Lumbini Bardiya and Pokhara. Going back for a couple of months once all this Covid19 stuff has settled down to visit other places there.
@@hippieaussietraveller8587 I saw hippie in your name so if you are interested plz let us show you organic stuff from nepal and it's a call from one stoner to other ☺️☺️
saq myni paul how thoughtful of you. I’m not a stoner.
@@saqmynipaul513 the good times are sadly over. The young nepalies have no mind , knowledge, feeling anymore. It is the same at the kulu valley. I remember the qualities of 1977-79 at mustang, or Kulu Rangri. you have to go far away from tourist regions and if ya`re lucky ya find a baba who is in his balance...
I was in Nepal in 1975 (& 81, 84, 86 & 2011) and this well done video is a wonderful reminder of how strange, wonderful, beautiful and mystical and quiet it all was back then. I have very few photos from then so this is excellent. Modern visitors don't realize how different it was, though all the major sights are still there, 20 yrs. of civil war & anarchy have changed it greatly.
i was there in 84...and returned in 2014 and 2016....now it s a completely different world of noise, chaos and dust (well in Kathmandu and Pohkara)...
Thank you madom where are you from please come Kathmandu again now here's unbelievably develop and change
Aniways am take my home please you should come back again Nepal
its not 20 , 10 years' of civil war it was.
Thank you

Watching this during lockdown .. Lots of Love From Nepal 😍😍😍😍😍
40yrs ago Nepal was still the same as I was there 4 months ago. Dear friends, you should see this country before plastics take over.
You should have seen the world before plastics.
inggar3 very sad about the plastic situation. I struggled deeply with the whole rubbish situation. As an Aussie it was very uncomfortable. I clean and green and did my best to not leave a rubbish footprint there.
Yes u r right..
sadly. Plastic Covered almost all.
Damn this did age well sadly
Dear Mr.Michael, can’t enough thanking you for giving this generation a wonderful sight back where my father was barely started to walk. Honestly, I’m overwhelmed seeing this video now. How beautiful and Devine our place was.... we couldn’t able to maintain it or develop it in a proper swing. Thank you again 🙏🏻🙏🏻💐💐
I've always found Nepal and the mighty Himalaya fascinating ...my first journey wasn't until Feb / 1992... Wish I'd been able to travel there before that ! .......Yeti stories ..Jungle tigers ..from the 1970's and 1980's drew me closer ....many fond memories now ✨🙏🏽
Born Feb 92 Gorkha, Nepal
Amazing people then were very innocent all were satisfied at what they had. Thank you for the one who recorede and updated this video
Nice film ,I first visited Nepal in 1993 ,was in Kathmandu at big earthquake time, there last October for manaslu trek , Nepal 🇳🇵 is great 🙏 love from Scotland 🏴
Thanks for uploading this Michael I fell in love with Nepal spending 5 weeks there in 2007. I recognise some of the places, but how I would have loved to experience it in 1970. I’m so jealous.
The video gives such an immense peace to whoever is watching it. Always have been proud to be a Nepali.
Meanwhile pollution control must've to be considered seriously to preserve the true Nepali essence.
what a beautiful film...i was there in 1977 and returned in feb.2020...8:40 of the film showed a beautifil temple which now only has its steps and base left
it's still there under renovation
Thanks for this! I was in KTM '76 and this brings back memories.

watching this video on 2021 ....time flows so far !!!
Thnak you Mr. MichaelRogge for such a nice old video of Nepal!!!
In 1970 the government dope store was still open and the local chang ( fermented rice beer) was variable from day to day. Quiet peaceful time indeed.
Chang is still sold in shady gullies even today lol
And you can find dope anywhere in rural areas and chang is kinda legal in newari settlement's
@@saqmynipaul513 Is the hashish still AAA+?

I think I'm goin' to Katmandu,

thank you for sharing such a beautiful video of Nepal
What a beautiful peaceful place Kathmandu was !! I was there in 1999 cycling right across nepal from banbussa in the west up to pokhara and then across to kathmandu and then down again exiting at karkabita into west Bengal.
There were quite a few guest houses and a few of the old original farmsteads in the fields above fewa lake but you could basically walk from your $1 dollar a night guesthouse through the fields to fewa lake ,fastforward to 2015 and you can count on the fingers of one hand the number of old rustic farmstteads that have survived ,and barely a square metre of land has been spared down to fewa lake just a mass of concrete hotels ,so so sad ,kathmandu was then a very polluted noisy crowded south Asian city it' was that multiplied by 10 in 2015 , I guess they need to go to work feed their families etc ..
Kathmandu in 1970 looks amazing !peaceful, uncrowded, simple, happy and very mystical and charming , sadly you cant turn back the clock ,what a time to be travelling !!!!
God bless nepal and it's great people!!
Thanks for Sharing

If you could possibly remember the name and write there of so many places and temples where fortunately we can see them ,then it would be most interesting but that's okay. And I have been born after 23yrs of this video have captured. This is so beautifully recorded ❤️ and I'm so over whelming to see my country Nepal how it was many decades ago. Thank you so much for your video. I'm so happy and grateful to watch it.
Thank you 🙏🏼
Thanks sir you shared this old memories with new generation from our beautyful country
Wow....1970 even I was not born man... Thanks for the video
How pristine.....!!!
Thank you for sharing Michael, it took me straight back to 1975.
How ever captured this video may God bless him/her !! This time was fully of satisfaction and peace of mind what a golden time it was !!
Beautiful video. Great essence of time back then. Blossoming with time. Great treasure to be preserved is the ☮️ of mind. Hope we can bloom with same essence and hospitality.
It's great to see how much progress we have made as a society, we were once just a bunch of poor farmers, labourers and priests who always looked up to foreigners as the elite classes but now due to education we are able to work side by side with them

I didnt make it into Nepal until Jan 1979, came in overland from India, Raxual border, and we used to ride bicycles around Kathmandu, even out into the Valley, no problem, stopping for Chai on the way...
Very different today, and not in a good way.
