I can confirm that save editing your auto builds will allow you to spawn some illegal things. Npc ai gets a bit broken though. I haven't tested it on a horse yet
You are correct. You can spawn almost any actor ID with autobuild. It's pretty easy actually. You hex edit the actor ID of what you want in an autobuild plan saved in your save with what you want. It can be a bit buggy depending on what you are replacing. But it mostly works. I also had found the byte that controls how many objects are in an autobuild plan and set it to one. Non standard autobuild stuff don't actually consume any zonaite despite the UI saying it would cost 3. (you still need to actually have 3 zonaite for it to let you spawn it though) I was able to spawn Purah in the depths and she stuck around. I did not think to test horses but that should work too though sadly I don't think you'd be able to do much with them. The issue is autobuild spawned stuff lacks a few properties like player collision and interaction. The Purah NPC I spawned could not be interacted with. Couldn't talk to her and objects wouldn't interact with her. This is also evident in the Link clones I spawned with it. They could interact with the terrain but not with dynamic objects. (though they could still mount horses and use zonai devices so it doesn't prevent Link clones from interacting with NPCs and other things. :P ) Sadly spawning backpack koroks with autobuild doesn't work. The camera zooms off into the void somewhere and comes back a short time later with autobuild canceling itself. I can spawn them from stables and the figurine stand via save editing just fine but not from autobuild. Since there's no stables in the Depths no Korok buddy in the depths. :( I did at one point save edit the position coordinates of my Horse (or korok buddy in this case as it was a korok swapped in replacing one of my horse slots) to be down in the depths but sadly the game still does the special check for "if horse should be here or not" and doesn't let it spawn and thus have to go to stable to retrieve it routine. :( I think map editing will have to become a thing before we can get functional horses in the Depths assuming they don't just don't despawn the moment the stable tries to spawn them. :P

unless dragon parts have a failsafe where they'll survive the transition from overworld to depths (for example, in case you shoot a dragon and its material falls into a chasm) i dont think that would work

@TehCactusPlant Stalhorses exist in the depths and in the overworld. When you transition between depths & overworld maps, your zonai build devices don't despawn. That means the game examines all the objects around LInk, and decides for each one of them, whether to update it to use the other map or not. The game sees your zonai devices, and says "Yes, transition this to the depths map along with Link." The game sees your horse, and says "Is horse? No, don't transition to depths map with Link." So .... perhaps you can put a wild horse in a cage, or put a stalhorse in a cage, or even tame a stalhorse. So the game will ask "Is horse?" and the answer will be no, so it will bring the horse along with you.
As someone who just ran holding a screaming chicken from Kakariko village to Gerudo Town wearing the Boko and Lizalfos masks interchangeably… this video is right up my street. 😂
I got my horse into Tobio's chasm, and then chased it further down the tunnel by lobbing things at it to scare it. It's just at the limits of what you can see through the sheika scope, and it's only about 1/3 of the length of the chasm. For reference, the point where the dupe glitch can be performed is about 2/3 of the way down.
the spawn anything ID theory is interesting but the tarrey town sculptures make me think they already had the code to "render" just about anything into an ultrahand-valid solid, and that's also what they're using to add things like apples to your autobuild, so it might not spawn a bear but a motionless solid green version, similar to the "most of a horse" situation.
People have added bears and other entity files to auto builds via emulator and memory editing. Entity spawned in and ran off like normal. So luckily we know it functions if we can just make it happen without external sources.
What about the poes statue eyes around the casms on the great plateau? could fusing them to the horses harness above the chasm affect it's overworld tag, given you can drop the eyes down the chasms without them despawning?

New Shrientist here. Just made a double cage 6 wheel atv. If you maneuver carefully enough at Passeri Greenbelt to grab cages, you can Ultrahand em over the fort (leaving the blood moon dude just exposed)
Ok interesting I saw someone try to do the quest of finding a skeleton horse for an npc by pulling one out from the depths and they also encountered the depths/ overworld barrier. I almost hoped this would be an option for a horse to get through since those exist in both places but no dice.
Unfortunately, I don't think you'll ever be able to have a horse "in the Depths", because the actual area geometry won't be loaded. When Link is standing in Overworld and looking down at a Horse below the transition, the overworld is loaded. I wish you the best of luck, but I really doubt the horse model will be in memory at the same time as the Depths geometry :(
Iirc The 4 dragons (fire,ice,electric, and light) materials have a despawn range of 2000. Would doing this depths horse test change if you put a dragons material on the towing harness?
From what I can tell from messing around with it. The horse and harness are different entities and not connected in the sense that glued objects are. Ultrahanding or getting far enough away will despawn the horse, but not the harness in that scenario. Ultrahanding the harness on a harness will hold the harness for a few seconds after the horse despawns. That gives me a dumb idea. Won't help the horse. But is a dumb idea to try lol
What if you spawned a hover stone on an elevated part of a platform so you could stand where it is go to the overworked and godown to the depths where that stone was and when it spawns back link is clipped into it

We tried that too. Still counted as overworld and despawned, respawned back in the temple which is why we know the wrong warp sets the horses respawn coords, so that's nice.
Considering a glued contraption persists, and it despawns while attached to that, very unlikely. The harness itself does not appear to be attached to the horse in the same sense as other objects gluing.
Can’t you set your respawn coordinates to the depths, while your horse is in the overworld, and, without touching the ground, use zonai devices to fly out of the depths, capture your horse (again without touching the floor) than fly the horse to the lost woods and wrongwarp it to the depths.
I'm not sure if this would even accomplish anything, but what if the horse was positioned in such a way that it was on the barrier, and Link would only cross it when mounting the horse?
I guess the mount prompt might get you over the load threshold if mounting is a teleport, but I suspect it'll only work going up if it does. ....Maybe a stearing stick?

I tried this just now, it doesn't work. The horse will despawn even if link is riding it. I did this by putting horse in cage, attaching a hoverstone and two stakes to the cage (the stakes aren't for sticking, just weight), and a rocket pointing over a chasm. Rocket over the chasm, then recall to put yourself above the opening. Mount the horse and wait for the assembly to slowly descend. The horse will vanish at about y 48 in my experience.
@@teddy4271 The idea is not to ride the horse, but to use the 'mount' prompt so that you 'teleport' past the threshold that changes things from "depths" to "Overworld". Or a stearing stick, to the same effect. I don't have high hopes in it working though. If the game just constantly checks links height, rather then updating it at the threshold, it's a no-go.
I don't but I do believe they are segregated like how the desert is. Its possible to take a bunch of different entities up there(for example, bears), and they are fine. Which makes sense, as the depths is basically an entire world, but the sky islands are an extension of the main world and just extra bits all over the place. That's my two cents at least. Future Shrience will figure it out.
Notice the horse icon always appears on the map where the entity exists. Even though the horse is actually in the chasm, after the map-to-depths transition occurred, the horse icon still appears on the surface map. When the horse is in the sky, does its icon appear in the sky map, or the surface map? Your pro HUD doesn't show us the map. ;-)
Wrong warp into stables was the amusing way to put it. In reality it likely fully unloaded the horse from the overworld, and the stables just check if one is loaded somewhere rather than keeping track of one being boarded or not. Wrong warping with other entities they are just removed from memory and would cease to exist(as if you warped away from a bear for example).

I rode my Royal Horse descendant everywhere until my battery was good enough for the hoverbike outside of short jaunts.

The eyes actually do despawn if you throw them down not attached to anything; the game then spawns a new one where it wants them to have landed.

Unfortunately, I don't think you'll ever be able to have a horse "in the Depths", because the actual area geometry won't be loaded. When Link is standing in Overworld and looking down at a Horse below the transition, the overworld is loaded.
