Thank you and I sometimes do keep fish occasionally for table. Mahseer are very hard fighting fish and a lot of times they open the hook during the strike. Imagine them like very fast swimming groupers. If you're coming here all the way for Mahseer, then the Golden Mahseer is something to consider, but they're only in the northern parts of the country and I've never caught them, but they're on my list as well. There is decent Mahseer fishing about a 3 hour drive from where I live in the southern part of the country, but they're not Golden Mahseer. I started fishing for Mahseer only last year and I'm yet to fish for them this year as we had a lot of rain and the rivers were flooded. The conditions are better now and I'll be fishing for them from next week and I'll try to explore a lot more this year. Here's something for ya, Mahseer love top water lures including poppers and spooks 🙂 Also, if you're targeting the Mahseer in South India, then you're also not too far from the ocean. Please let me know if there's an email or something where I could share my Mahseer fishing reports from this coming season if you're interested.

Cavy golden mahaseer fishing is great in Uttarakhand (In the foothills of the Indian Himalayas) & in the near by rivers of Nepal. Many different rivers & sites , but not all are legal to fish in, you need to get permits & shit

Since I am very new to freshwater fishing, it is a bit of a challenge to figure things out, besides, there's not much information available out there for lure fishing Mahseer. Hopefully, I will get to catch those big Mahseer out there.

Try to find deeper pools where the water flows into and those places hold Mahseer. Also, if there are big rocks or any similar structure, the mahseer will be waiting behind the structure for the current to bring in food.

That depends. If it's a small fish it still could take 2 minutes to land. A big one could take about 20 minutes or more to land after you hook the fish. To hook into a fish, there's no definite time at all, as it involves too many factors....

Since, the fish were upstream, there was a lot of slack and it was hard to hook them properly. I was using a Zerek vibe lure.
