Such great advice. I have never seen those plastic palette book with tear out leafs. Yes dried watercolours never seem to loose their quality, no matter how many times you rewet them. I love the colour reveal from swatches but I hate swatching. I don't think I will ever buy a palette again, I will just make my own like I did with the skull one. 😍🙌 I sometimes don't care about colour order, I have my Dainayw palette that has colours all over the place but Im like meh, lol.
i used to use an icecream lid for every medium .. but i gave up icecream lol .. i have a container palette now for my watercolor.. im new to watercolors, still getting used to them.. My meeden palette is very similiar to the one you show.. and i did swatches for the first time, because i had no idea what the colors were lol this is a great video kerrie, very helpful.. and some great points x
Thanks, Lori. I'm not an ice cream eater either, but I do have a house full of willing volunteers! 😅 I keep seeing those Meeden palettes - will be interested to see what you think of the paints
This is a very good and informative video. I especially like the advice about making it easy to start painting. It is soo true that having to make room for a huge (wonderful) pallet does make it kind of tiresome to start painting. I got a huge porcelain pallet that I have got for three years now, just leaning against the leg of my desk, totally unused. I need more room on my desk for it once I fill it with paint, -as well as a whole shelf to keep it on when I do not paint.
I really don't like doing color swatches either, so I usually only do it if the color that comes out is significantly different from how it looks in the pan, which I have had happen. I've experimented some with different palettes, and I've found I really like small ones.
Great tutorial. Lovely video, Kerrie. Have a lovely weekend 🔔👍

These are some great tips, Kerrie! I still have all my watercolours in tubes, so these tips came in handy!
I'm so glad it was helpful Ella!

Yes that's exactly right - the big ones seem so glorious but they are just impractical. So glad you like the video Xargot!
Very nice
Thank you!

I'm glad it's not just me Annalisa! I'd much rather paint a picture that a swatch chart!!
