The story isn’t too far fetched. AD is from the Midwest (Chicago) and the pacers had a great team. AD also was stuck in New Orleans in the western conference getting destroyed every year. If he would have went to the East that would have put the pacers over the top.

I can actually see it. Since hes left the team, Indiana has been a fringe playoff bound squad with allocated pieces that present nice players but no lone game changer. Their inability to pull the trigger on an Oldaipo or Myles Turner trade showcases theyre not ready for a full blown rebuild rn, but instead are content with being competitive out east.

yeah but you should look at Secret Base's mini doc on the decline of the Pacers starting at 2013. They werent team building through the draft like the warriors at all. They blew up a pretty good team around PG after his horrific USA basketball scrimmage injury and began making some bad free agent signings. They werent trying to progress through a slow draft rebuild. They were patch working things around their lone star at the time.
