That reminds me, I have a 5 part version of “piobaireachd of donald dubh” from a 1936 book called Army Manuel of Bagpipe Tunes and Drum Beatings. I’d gladly share it with you if you want to use it for one of your 100 days.
thanks pal.... I only found there were more than 2 parts when I played with Dixies Band for the first time... things went quiet at pt 3, then no one was playing but Dixie at pt 5
Heyyy Neil!!! u sound amazing on the pipes tho ur sooo skilled at it!! Neil could u possibly play The Bloody Feilds of Flanders tune!!! It sounds really beautiful ☺
Splendid! But this seemed very slightly different, in only a few spots, from the setting I learned the six-parter from-- could the old Queen's Own Highlanders regimental settings book have had a similar six-part arrangement? Most other books only give a two or four-part setting. I need to check my music sheets (just house moved and all my piping music is still boxed or hideously disorganized!). The QOH version might be a tad altered from the SG's book.
Yes; is there a form where we can submit tunes for you to play tunes? The ability to play along with these cannot be underestimated for beginners. Metronomes are a must, but it’s great to be able to match you note for note.
Aye just let me know Jesse... Only difference is for these ones, I either have to actually know them or not be far off. Half the chanter ones I can familiarise myself with them JUST enough to record, then they're forgotten. Should be OK tho!
@@kevinhendryx665 I think the 5/6th WERE added at a later date..I've never heard them played outside the army, I tend to play them, as it makes the tune just a little more interesting. Even if they do sound a little like Piobaireachd of Donald Dhu...
Double-ya Double-ya Double-ya...you're the best, Neil! Thanks for the tunes.
I already love this tune a day series. Thanks for posting these!
You definitely got your pipe gain and voice volume spot on this time. Great job as always!
Fantastic piping, thank you for sharing!
Thanks for this - would love to hear Flett from Flotta or Loch Ruan soon!
One of the best tune from my favourite list.. 👍

Andrea, I've never heard of that, that would be fantastic. Thanks
@@NeilClark-FalkirkPiping I will send it through messenger. I also took photos of the book and it’s contents. It is out of print.
I'm interested in old piping music books. I have a 5 part Donald Dhu on a stand-alone photocopy that someone gave me. I wonder if it's the same...
Most likely. There weren’t many 5 parted versions out there!
Blue Bonnets O’er the Border if you could fit it in the 100 days
Magnificent Neil👍🏻
Brings back fond memories, nice playing once more

What Notes is Played In The Atholl Highlanders
Pirates of the Caribbean theam song tutorial please
After the 4th part it just sounds like a different tune haha. It’s almost never played by bands.
It's a major feat to get most bands to learn 4 parts, never mind 6....
I wonder if the fifth and sixth parts are attributed to a different composer? Need to locate and check my regimental music books!
