Wow. She's beautiful. When I go on my cruises, I always go a couple of days before my cruise, and I stay on the Queen Mary 1, which is right across from the ship I cruise on and it's absolutely beautiful. I wish I could see the QE2.
A video project of this size should have had a competent sound editor. In many places the background audio track overwhelms the narrative. The subject is good, the story well presented, but it needs to have an audio remix to put it right.
I went from watching a documentary about street children in Manila, to watching this. Half way through I had to stop watching. I think it's obscene that we have such contrasts between lives on this planet (((
Someone mentioned that the QE2 should have stayed in the UK instead of going to Dubai. A similar comment under a vid about the Queen Mary (1934) mentioned it should be in the UK, not the US. However, tougher weather going back to 1967 (when the QM was retired, right around the time the QE2 was launched) would have worn out the ship even faster. As for the QE2 (1967), it lacks the old-time charm & history of an older liner. The QE1 (1938) would have made more sense as a converted hotel. But it caught on fire in 1972. The only other ship that would have worked better as a hotel & museum would be the SS Normandie (1932), which was from France, not the UK. It was decked out like a 1930s movie palace. That would have wowed visitors in Dubai. But as with the QE1, the Normandie in 1942 also burned down.
I was lucky enough to sail on the QE2 with my parents in 2003 when I was just 17 and become one of her only 2.5 million passengers!!! It was a Norwegian Fjords voyage & was so memorable. I had one of the best steaks I've ever had. I met and had a photo with Captain Ian McNaught (who later became captain on her final voyage!). I remember looking out of the window one night and we were so far North it was dark, but I could weirdly see both the sun and the moon in the sky, and dolphins swimming alongside the ship. I still have my certificate for singing on karaoke :-p
The music and some foreground talking drowned out the narrator. It was a shame since this was in interesting video but I couldn't follow much of the dialog.
You defiantly sound like the type that would say " Ugh, instead of spending 10k on a handbag, they should use that money to help the poor"... Even though it's their money and not yours ! You only have one life to live so live well !

I gotta say the claim of it being "the most famous ocean liner in the world" is quite the claim lol. Considering even people visiting said ship today compare it to "looking like the Titanic." Which should say something about the actual "most famous ocean liner in the world." Not to take away from the history of the QE2 but the Titanic simply holds that title bar none. Everyone knows what the Titanic is.
For goodness sakes, WHY IS THE BACKGROUND MUSIC SO LOUD???????? I want to concentrate on the commentary; not have my ears blown off by loud music!!!!!!
It makes me a trifle sad to see such a venorable British icon find her final resting place in such a debauched and heathen place as Dubai. The whole video was worth watching, however, just to meet that wonderful fellow who used to serve aboard the ship and is now conducting tours on it.
A city that was built with slave labor. The Dubai government brought in poor from impoverished countries. They promised them good wages, safe working environment and lodging while there. What happen is that they took their passports when they got there. Didn't pay them, and if they did, they charged them for there housing. Many workers owed them money, even if they're working 12- 14 hours day, 7 days a week. And this is all encouraged by the Dubai government. That whole place is built on blood. A terrible place run by terrible people.
These crap documentaries make interesting subjects boring. There are way too many words for the information communicated. Just explain the ship and not the life story of all the staff.
I wonder if my old crew cabin is still the pigsty that it was when me and 3 others shared it.4 deck aft and I remember 6 deck was a long alleyway from Bow to stern with ships office, print room crew bank and ships laundry.1987 was the year.
Music is too loud. Good editing but the music volume is a distraction.

I am happy that this grand old ship has been saved and repurposed

Geez! Get rid of the background music!
How are we supposed to hear what you're saying with such loud music?
Rich people are so ridiculous. I'm shaking my head through this whole thing. What I appreciate is the staff.

Occasional decadence is good for the soul and it is for everyone not only the rich.

Never been to a floating hotel.....very fancyyy
Why is the music drowning out the narration?!?!
Did Christopher Nolan mix the sound on this?
What an undignified second life for the QE2.
Do you maybe mean: dignified?
Music over powers the the whole video. Please think about that first before editing. It's a little frustrating great video though.

Why is it hideous interiors live far too long?
The "Background-Music" is not at all background, it disturbs the understanding of the narrative and this is really a bad sign.
It likes to think of itself that way, but really, no it’s just an over bloated stodgy cruise line.
For goodness sakes, WHY IS THE BACKGROUND MUSIC SO LOUD???????? I want to concentrate on the commentary; not have my ears blown off by loud music!!!!!!
We need it for our immigrants as we are running out of 4 Star Hotels it would be cheaper just put them on a world cruise.
Executive chef is chewing gum, not very luxe image....
Why i can only watch this with USA VPS DAFQ?
2020 documentary

Well, what did the British do to keep it in the UK? Exactly, nothing. So boohoo
Vegetarian Haggis?
Why is she castrated???!!! Put back her life boats!!!!!!!
This is Dubai, lol. You couldn't pay me to go there! And no one else should either! Ok, cant watch!
Looks like an outdated Carnival cruise ship. Lol!
QUIT COMPARING MODERN SHIPS TO 'TITANIC'!
The very most opposite of my life experience preserved for all the piggies to aboard over and over and over

So much unnecessary stress and pressure on the workers. This is not what life is about.
Ugh! That background music....make it stop! :S
