you should have added 2 sticks to the handle. that will make it more stable. and add super glue to the handle.

How long did it take you to do it?

Since he didnt answer imma answer how long it usually takes me to do cardboard projects
Since this project is relatively small comparing to others id say
Drawing and cutting claws would have taken him around 30 minutes or a little more
Assuming no breaks are taken in between
Hot gluing/gluing, seperating the claw into 2 parts and stuff , like about 40 minutes or more
The entire project in theory could be done in a day or 2 max if you take breaks
Talking from experience i usualy take pretty long to make things cuz i take long breaks in between
Hope that helps
Edit: Ps:also jou could super glue the cardboard blades and sand them down to make edges then filling the small holes with some paper mache or something , than sanding down again
Same effect but more resistant blades and i imagine it takes a bit longer and more money cuz super glue is pretty expensive from where im from
