- The pan-Yoruba socio-political group Afenifere has strongly cautioned the Federal Government regarding the World Bank's recent recommendations to reduce support for social services in Nigeria. This advice comes as the World Bank advocates for long-term economic reforms aimed at positioning Nigeria as a competitive force in sub-Saharan Africa and globally. Afenifere argues that such measures could be harmful, especially since President Bola Tinubu's administration may conclude before these reforms produce any benefits. In related developments, tensions within the Labour Party have escalated following the arrest of national vice chairman Ceekay Igara during a meeting, with police citing allegations of impersonation. Additionally, the All Progressives Congress has secured all seats in the Kaduna local government election, while opposition parties in Kogi have protested against suspected election material diversion. The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission has also announced plans to transfer the management of the national grid to an independent operator after a recent grid collapse.
