Kanna will never be cute
I like how this scene indirectly reminds the viewer that Kanna was kicked out because she pulled pranks on the older dragons. It's that bit of continuity that makes it just a little better.

And opens the opportunity for a third season becase they introduced the key character for the next arc
What makes it worse is that she pulled the pranks to get attention because she was lonely.

@@vakieh4381 I'd say that sort of thing depends both on your culture and time period. Depending, brings about gender roles and distinctions. Sure marriage was always a consideration, but that tended to be a bigger consideration for nobility, with everyone else working ill paid or likely unpaid labor, so when you were physically capable of labor, you labored.
I like that Tohru calls the humans foolish for destroying the cool things they create and fighting for authority. when the chaos faction and harmony faction do exactly the same whilst some dragons neglect their children ignoring something so precious
Their progeny remain infants for thousands of years. It's one thing to be a full time parent for a year, but something more important than coddling children is bound to come up at least once in a millennia.

well itas different for dragons as theyre fighting for different types of frreedom and peace. Harmony dragons choose to attain peace through mediation between the Gods and the humans whilst chaos dragons want to attain peace by eliminating the beings that threaten peace in their world, those being the Gods. Humans fighting over alittle land seem insignificant in comparison to her goals. Comparing a small amount of power/land to ultimate peace and freedom makes what the humans are fighting for, power and land seem foolish

she's actually not 7000 years old, i don't know where you get that from. I don't know if telling her age is a spoil or smth because i saw it on the wiki but in the present she's 300 year old and probably under her 100 years in this flashback

So basically Kanna's parents intentionally don't give her attention, since it's implied they rarely fight, which is why Kanna resorts to things like turning into a human and pranks as a way to compensate. That explains Kanna's relationship with Saikawa
It's going to be explored hopefully in the next season, because it's going to be a lot of Kanna and new characters.
It was said because they thought letting kanna explore the world by herself was the best way like torhu
It also explains why she's so snuggly with the people she cares about, in a really sad way 😢
Funfact: Kanna's Parents were guardians of a highly important barrier orb that... (Spoilers)
...Kanna was tricked into breaking by the Instigator of the Chaos/Harmony war as well as the War between many of the human factions on that world. (The conflict Tohru witnessed before finding 7000 yo Kanna, was one of the many engineered conflicts amongst the human factions the Instigator set up.)
It was a "Prank" so serious that her parents could no longer turn the other way from... And Kanna may have been smart for her age, but she never quite fully understood exactly how _serious_ that "Prank" was... Or that at the time, she had been tricked into ramping up the Harmony/Chaos War efforts by the one who claimed that "Breaking that Orb will make you look _cool"._
Its only much later that she learns the truth... Mostly because Kobayashi was told of exactly what happened, and because the instigator pretty much rubbed it into Kanna's cute little face.

Yeah, this anime does tug the heart strings. Rewatching this clip had the same effect as when I first saw this episode.

It weirdly shows what a good father the emperor of demise was in that
A.) he sent his daughter out to make up her own mind. Even if it meant she might join the spectators.
B.) Tohru never got in trouble for acting out to get attention because... when he could he gave her attention. He made time to raise her. Not all the dragons do that, some just cast their kids aside like "you're a dragon you'll be fine"

Kanna Kamui is a family name I'm guessing, like how irl some families always name their first son John or something. It just means one of Kanna's parents has the same name
Bad translation. It's supposed to be her father (previous generation of the Kamui family), whose last name is Kamui, but Kanna is her first name (just regular name, nothing about first name being carried on).
It makes no sense. It's like this person's name is John Smith, so you refer to their father as the "previous John Smith", while the father's name is Dylan Smith. Just flat out wrong.
Kanna's father name is Kimun Kamui. It's not Kanna. Again, it's just bad translation.
Historically, Japan had a ninja clan known as the Fuma. Their leader was usually given the name "Kotaro" and is a name passed down from one leader to the next.
Seems like a similar case that a certain name is being passed down through each succeeding generation.
There's bits of that I got wrong, but not the part about the same name being passed down.

That's not Kimun Kamui because his horns are different; maybe that's supposed to be some other relative?
I'm surprised that Kanna's father only made a silhouette in this episode, I was hope when he'd make an appearance, oh well, hopefully till next season that arc will be focused on it.
It'll probably be a movie since the Kimun arc ends like a last episode of a season and yet we'll only have 5 episodes worth of content between chapters 65 and 78.

This episode was perfect not in fights or animation, but perfect in storytelling and to understand the Character TOHRU!!
This episode shows a good backstory on Tohru’s reason, upbringing and finding a purpose in her life. She really does want to help those she care. She’s doesn’t do it for the chaos or harmony but fighting for what she believed in even she has to do it alone. When she thought she lost that purpose and felt lonely Kobayashi gave her a new life and purpose. She became a Maid because she wants to help those she care for.
Kanna and Tohru are so cute and wholesome together.

She browbeat Damocles (Tohru's father) into not interfering with Tohru's relationship with her. I'm pretty sure she can handle Kimun(Kanna's father).

There is, in fact, an arc about this. Kimun Kamui doesn't understand the concept of parenting, though, so it's more "please come back and join the war effort, comrade" on his part.
Why! WHY DID KANNA HAVE TO BE EVEN MORE CUTE!? If Saikawa saw this, she would probably have a heart attack, or worse
